We’re back! Active blogging returns to GOTB
After more than a year hiatus, Get on the Bus is back active starting today, and we have some new writers contributing here.
This blog, begun in 2005, was one of the nation’s first blogs about education on a traditional news Web site. Back then, I was the Dayton Daily News’ K-12 education reporter and I was the only contributor. A lot has changed in the interim. Here’s what you can expect going forward from GOTB’s now three contributors:
—Scott Elliott. As an editorial writer who focuses often on education issues, I’ll contribute commentary, criticism and analysis of local, state and national education issues.
—Margo Rutledge Kissell. As the DDN’s new K-12 education reporter, Margo will contribute news and analysis about local and state education issues. Margo has wide ranging reporting experience, starting as a Greene County reporter and more recently covering military affairs, from the perspective of soldiers at war and their families on the home front, and social services.
-Chris Magan. Moving over from the Greene County beat, where he did lots of good work covering Greene County education issues, Chris is now the DDN’s higher education reporter. He will contribute news and analysis about local and state issues that relate to area colleges.
If you visited GOTB in the past, you know that what made this blog work well was the respectful interaction and thoughtful debate among the commenters. We hope readers will continue to participate by posting their thoughts and following the three simple commenting rules — no profanity, no hate speech and no libel. Margo, Chris and I are looking forward to recreating a vibrant online community here.
