No spot for returning Graham state champ

ST. PARIS — How loaded is Graham’s wrestling team? Strong enough that a defending state champ for the Falcons can’t crack the lineup.

That would be Tucker Armstrong, who claimed the D-II 125-pound title last season. But as the early season unfolded, he found himself behind heralded freshman Felipe Martinez at 130.

With defending state champ Zach Neibert at 125 and the nation’s top-ranked wrestler, David Taylor, at 135, Armstrong was out. The junior was 39-6 in his championship sophomore season.

According to coach Jeff Jordan, Armstrong has left the program.

This stuff wouldn’t happen if the kids of St. Paris wrestled for Graham instead of bringing in the best wrestlers from across the state to wrestle there.

wow, the freshman better take the state title, how do you not give a state champion a chance to repeat?

when you’re the best, people come to wrestle for you. jordan also runs one of the best wrestling camps in the country that bring entire teams in from all over the nation. and if anyone paid close enough enough attention, they would see alot of them come up through grahams programs. the peewee and jr. high programs are all recognized as powerhouses too. regardless of where they are from (at a young age), jordan puts his best 14 on the mat every week. tucker had the chance to crack the lineup, but forfeited his right to a “wrestle-off.” apparently he knew he couldn’t beat felipe or zach. so put your head between your legs and make room for another state title trophy.
