Icer Breslin draws ire of opposing defenses
They are waking up the echoes at Centerville. The school’s ice hockey team is off to a strong 9-3-2 start. The Elks skaters swept through the Dayton Mayor’s Cup over the weekend, dispatching Troy 9-2, Springboro 7-1 and Beavercreek 3-0.
Doing a lot of the damage was scoring machine and adept stickhandler Joe Breslin. He registered hat tricks against Troy and Boro. His talent is instinctive — his father Jim starred on the 1979 Elks hockey team that won a state title.
Breslin, a center, has 25 goals in 14 games, leading the Elks back to respectability.
“He knows how to score, and sees things develop on the ice that others don’t,” said coach Adam Frank. “He’s going to end up being the school’s No. 1 point producer.”
