Elder crushes Colerain, 20-7
PANTHERS NEAR-PERFECT
ON NATIONAL TV (ESPN),
SHOWCASING ‘THE PIT’
Senior quarterback Mark Miller threw two touchdown passes and senior Tony Miliano kicked two field goals as Cincinnati Elder defeated Cincinnati Colerain, 20-7, in a nationally-televised high school football game at Elder Stadium — affectionately known as “The Pit” — on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 6.
A sellout crowd of more than 10,000 packed the stadium in the Price Hill section of Cincinnati for the Old Spice High School Showcase presented by the United States Marine Corps.
The game was broadcast live on ESPN at noon prior to the Ole Miss-Memphis college football game.
Trailing 7-3, Elder scored the final 17 points as Miller fired TD passes of 10 yards to Shelby Chidemo and 29 yards to Tim O’Conner before Miliano added a 37-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to the 22 yarder he booted in the first quarter.
Chidemo’s leaping TD reception in the back left corner of the end zone came with 20 seconds remaining in the first half and gave Elder the momentum.
Miller was named the game’s MVP.
Hundreds of Elder High School grads live in the greater Dayton area and faithfully follow the exploits of the Panthers.
“It’s a purple thing,” they like to say.
Colerain - 0-7-0-0—7
Elder - 3-7-7-3—20
E - Miliano 22 FG
C - Durham 23 run (Tabar kick)
E - Chidemo 10 pass from Miller (Miliano kick)
E - O’Conner 29 pass from Miller (Miliano kick)
E - Miliano 37 FG
Records: C 1-1, E 2-0.

The whole country got to see what people from Cincinnati and Dayton have known for years. Elder fans are the most obnoxious pricks on the planetBy Joe

If you are going to write a column, make sure your words aren’t totally bogus. 20-7 isn’t getting crushed. The score was 10-7 at half and Colerain was stopped on 4th down deep in Elder territory with a few minutes left in the game.By Dave76

“Elder fans are the most obnoxious pricks on the planet” Wayne67, If your implying that people who support their school, its students and athletes, as well as their community and who are some of the most outstanding community leaders and solid citizens are “pircks” then I’m glad to be a prick.By Dave76

First, it’s two cincinnati teams, who cares? Oh yeah, Chick Ludiwig WENT TO ELDER, no wonder he was there. Second, check the facts. ESPN reported that there were 13,000 people there. Third, who cares? It’s two Cincinnati teams. For a newspaper that won’t cover the Bengals or Reds anymore, they sure are devoting a lot of time and space to Cincinnati schools. Fourth, who cares? These are Cincinnati schools. Cover Dayton schools.By RM, Fairfield

So when Wayne wins a HS FB State Title and gets to be on ESPN, then I guess we can say that Wayne Grads are p ricks, RIght? I live near some Elder grads, can say they are the nicest most caring and helpfull friendly people I have ever lived next to. So if they are P Ricks then I want more P Ricks next to me. Elder and Colerain has won 3 Big Div One FB Titles,Elder in02-03,Colerain in 04. So ESPN had a great reason to showcase this game. Sore losers each year when Wayne is beaten by Elder/Coerain.By RM, Fairfield

That should say Colerain, One thing more. Total Seating in THE PIT, is 10,000. With room for 3,000 to 5,000 standing room tickets. So ESPN is right with 13,000. OH Did you hear how much the Split The Pot was.. I did, try this jackpot at Wayne. Winner took home over $6,000. Had it been a GCL game the jackpot would have been closer to $8,000.. BUT like you said. Elder fans are P Ricks. Real Class their Wayne 67. You really showed those Elder boys up.. Yep P Ricks.. Looked in the mirror of late.By Ithat1guy

Wow if only my highschool stadium was like that!!!! That place looks like an incredible place to watch and play a game! I have to admit I loved the student section for Elder they were loud and obnoxious the whole game, but what more would you expect from a thousand boys?By RM, Fairfield

Ithat1guy, YEp the last thing you want your student section to do is to sit on their hands the whole night and not make nosie. Please..lol. I stated above, I have Elder Grads living next to me and they are the best down to earth people I could ever meet. Wayne67 could be a really nice guy, but didn’t show it here on this post. In 07 I had surgery, was unable to cut my grass, take trash out, etc. So these P Rick’s Wayne 67 called them, did it for me. Even BBQ a few times and had my wife and I over for dinner. Yeah real P- Ricks they were. Wish all those around me were P-Ricks like Elder Grads.By joe

All of this is just silly. Just because you graduated from Elder doesn’t make you anything. Both sides are trying to make a point that’s just based on your experience. Prejudice in action. Who cares, it’s high school football. Get a life.By Dan

Wayne 76, I’m not sure what your hang up is.. Seems to be a bit of jealousy. Go Panthers! Please have a little class, I have a funny feeling I’m asking to much.By Dan

I disagree with anyone who is calling Elder fans “pricks.” The westside of Cincinnati is a place unlike any other, so if you don’t live her you wouldn’t know what it’s like. Elder has great spirit and is supported by everyone around them. This was a great game to be televised and it was one that alot of people will remember, especially the boys out there playing it.By Fan12
