Where are they now?

FOND MEMORIES OF 2

XENIA PREP LEGENDS

===Chick Ludwig wants to know who some of your favorite high school heroes are. Among my favorites are Colby Latimer of Dunbar; Rodell “House” Guest and Raynard Gover of Jefferson; Joe Domsitz, Maurice Douglass and Tony “The Pony” Cospy of Trotwood-Madison; Ron Todd of Belmont; Keith Byars, Chuck Taylor and Steve Smith of Roth; Kirk Herbstreit of Centerville; Shane Hannah of Valley View; Jeff Teeters of Jackson Center; and tons of guys from Alter, starting with Dave Greive.===

Seems like only yesterday when I was seated on the veranda at Community G.C. in Kettering, sharing a soda and a few laughs with Xenia High School superstar athletes Scott Phillippi and Billy “Bulldog” Harris at a junior golf tournament.

But it was back, way back in the early 1980s …

Billy “Bulldog” Harris, who went on to play nose tackle for the Michigan Wilverines, died of kidney failure some years ago.

As for my other favorite Buccaneer, Dr. Scott Phillippi (Xenia H.S., (Class of ‘83), has returned home, joining the “Brilliant Smiles Xenia” team of dentists in 2007.

Scott earned a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry.

Scott punted in college for the Stanford Cardinal although his name doesn’t show up on Stanford’s all-time letter winners.

I’ll always have fond memories of Scott Phillippi and Billy “Bulldog” Harris.

How about sweet-shooting Jimmy Pollard of Northridge? Marty Bidwell of Fenwick? Keith Byars, of course, on of the best. Dwight Anderson, before he lost his way, was absolutely unstoppable when he wanted to be. How about coaches? Bob Gregg of Centerville, Randy Waggoner of Dunbar, Mike Haley of Roth/Dunbar, Jim Place, now at Hamilton, but has left him mark all over the Miami Valley. All of the great coaches and men. The list is unending…

How about Tony Nicely Meadowdale class off 77, who signed and played for Pittsburg Pirates for a short time.

Jeff - Tony actually lives in Springboro and works as the General Mgr. of Extra Innings right here in Miamisburg! Extra Innings is an indoor baseball training facility. He is a grat guy. Brings in a lot of talented instructors.
