Another Mauk leads state in passing

Here we go again with a prolific Mauk at Kenton High School.

This time, instead of record-setting Ben, it’s sophomore Maty, who leads the state in passing with 2,937 yards (367.1 per game) and 31 touchdowns while completing 64 percent of his passes.

Ben Mauk, who played for Kenton from 1999-2002, holds state records in career yards (17,364) and touchdown passes (178). He went on to play for Wake Forest before transferring to Cincinnati to finish his college career.

The second-best passer by yards (Zac Dysert, who went from Ada High School to Miami University) trails Mauk by 6,190 yards, and the No. 2 player in TD passes trails Mauk by 39.

Could Maty Mauk challenge his brother? There are years yet to come.

Who cares? Is Kenton in the Dayton Daily News coverage area now? How about writing about local stuff.

Joe, He will more than likely end up at UC for his college career. So, to answer your question, yes Dayton should care. Alot of UC alums in the area.

Good ol’ Joe doesn’t know anything about high school and geography. Kenton Ridge is just outside of Springfield, and has always been covered by the DDN. Pull yourself outside the trailer, buddy.

Did anyone ever see Benny Mauk play at Kenton? It wasn’t football. It was like watching a backyard game of smear the queer. Actually kinda boring… Kenton had no runningbacks. None. They would send 5 wide receivers out and usually one was open. Tough to cover 5 guys crossing each other. So if you like to see nothing but pass after pass, then Kenton football is the place it watch wusseyball.

Yeah, it was really boring. Wusseyball led to 2 state titles and a runner-up the following year. I’d much rather watch someone hand the ball off every play. I mean, that’s so much fun to work on in the off season. “Hey guys, let’s go out to the field and practice our hand-offs so Big D can get excited during our games!” It is definitely boring to watch a game when a team has the potential to score on every play. 3 yards and a cloud of dust is so much more fun! Good ticket-seller too! hahahaha, nice post Big D

Look at the author is you question why this article is in the Dayton newspaper. There are like 50 Nagels in Wapak, which was the most recent win for Kenton!
