MartiniFest tickets on sale now
OK, so this isn’t all that close to home, but it’s a festival of martinis, so how could we not bring it to your attention? We couldn’t. Here’s what you need to know … Cheers!

WHERE:Newport on the Levee - Bar Louie, Claddagh Irish Pub, GameWorks, Jefferson Hall, and Pacific Moon participating
DATE:Tuesday, November 13, 2007
TIME: 6-8 p.m.
COST: Ticket prices are $20 per person. All participants will receive a complimentary martini glass to use during the event. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Education Alliance of Northern Kentucky, a non-profit affiliate of the Northern Kentucky Chamber with the mission to link business to education and prepare the future workforce.
Advance registration is required and tickets are limited. Tickets must be purchased by November 1. It seems it would go without saying, but we’ll say it anyway: Must be 21 or older to register.

Bar Louie: Choose from one of these four martinis: Pom Peche - Absolut Apeach, Pomegranate, Orange Juice, Passion Fruit Juice, Sprite, Orange Twist & Cherry; Raspberry Cosmo - Absolut Raspberry, Raspberry Syrup, Triple Sec, Cranberry Juice, Lime Juice & Lemon Twist; Spiced Tuscan Berry - Absolut Vodka, Orange Juice, Spiced Berry Syrup, Sour Mix & Frozen Blackberries; Pink Pussy Cat - Absolut Mandarin Vodka, Orange Juice, Watermelon Syrup, Pineapple Juice, Cranberry Juice & Orange Twist
Claddagh Irish Pub - Irish Lady Martini (Midori Melon Liqueur, Champagne and Orange Juice)
GameWorks - Mandarini (Absolut Mandarin Vodka, Gin, Cointreau and Pineapple Juice)
Jefferson Hall - French Martini (Vodka, Raspberry Liqueur and Pineapple Juice)

it actually sounds good, but can midori, champagne and orange juice really call itself a martini? doesn’t anybody still drink regular martinis?

Marc — I totally agree with you. More and more the term “martini” is becoming a catch-all for anything that’s a mixed drink. It’s really rather unfortunate that it’s moving in that direction as I and others I know find it misleading. The one drink that raised my eyebrow when scanning this list was the one from Pacific Moon. I’ve never heard of Asian Pear Sake … anyone know where I could find some?
