Pass offense

C

Chris Givens had a very good night with two touchdown receptions from Daniel Raudabaugh. On the other hand, Raudabaugh had two interceptions, half of Miami’s four turnovers, he attempted 46 passes and got only 196 yards, and according to coach Shane Montgomery he was inconsistent in his reads.

Run offense

D

Miami ran the ball 23 times and none of the gains were longer than 11 yards. Senior Chris Rodriguez, a walk-on who doesn’t even have a bio in the football guide, looked pretty good, picking up 3 and 4 yards on his two carries.

Pass defense

C

Toledo quarterback Aaron Opelt passed for only 139 yards and no touchdowns. Of course, he didn’t pass much because he didn’t need to pass much. Morris Council had an impressive sack for a loss of 10 yards, and senior safety Robbie Wilson came up with a team-leading 11 total tackles.

Run defense

F

Morgan Williams, 330 rushing yards. The Rockets, 395 rushing yards. Enough said.

Special teams

B

Jake Richardson was his usual excellent self, punting six times for an average of 42.7 yards, with three coming down inside the Toledo 20-yard line. Nate Parseghian did miss a 47-yard field goal, but he gave it a good try, and it was only his third miss in 19 attempts this season, so we shouldn’t hold it against him.

Intangibles

Some of Miami’s players went all-out on every play tonight and showed real passion. But it was obvious that for others, it’s time to start watching basketball.

Miami mauled 42-14 at Toledo

Final from Friday’s football game from the Glass Bowl: Toledo 42, Miami 14.

The RedHawks could not stop redshirt freshman running back Morgan Williams, who rushed for 330 yards.

Quarterback Daniel Raudabaugh threw two touchdown passes to Chris Givens but also was intercepted twice, each leading to a Toledo touchdown.

Toledo’s Williams hits 300-yard mark against Miami

With 11:47 remaining in the fourth quarter Toledo red-shirt freshman running back Morgan Williams became just the ninth player in Mid-American Conference history to rush for more than 300 yards in a game.

He has scored three of the Rocekts’ touchdowns on runs of 8, 86 and 14 yards. Toledo leads Miami 42-14 with 8:12 left in the fourth period.

And here’s a news flash: Hamilton native and Toledo true freshman cornerback Kenny Veal recorded his first collegiate interception with 11:59 left in the fourth quarter, picking off a Daniel Raudabaugh pass intended for Chris Givens at the Toledo 18-yard line.

Victory On Ice: Miami Blanks Michigan 2-0

It’s over here at Steve Cady Arena in Oxford as Miami gets two goals from Andy Miele to blank Michigan 2-0 in the first game of a two-game Central Collegiate Hockey Association series.

Cody Reichard was excellent all night in goal for the RedHawks, who lead the CCHA. Seventh-ranked Miami is 7-3-3 overall and 7-2-2 (with a shootout win) in the league, while the ninth-ranked Wolverines are 8-5, 5-4.

The puck will drop in Game 2 at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at Cady Arena.

Miami’s Raudabaugh throws second TD pass

For the first time in two months Daniel Raudabaugh has a multiple-touchdown pass game.

Miami University’s junior quarterback has hooked up with sophomore wideout Chris Givens for two touchdown passes Friday night, Nov. 21 against the Toledo Rockets, a 2-yard toss late in the second quarter and a 30-yard strike in the third period.

Toledo, however, leads Miami 28-14 late in the third quarter at the Glass Bowl.

The last time Raudabaugh passed for more than one touchdown in a game was Sept. 20 at Nippert Stadium when he fired touchdown passes of 10 yards to Armand Robinson and 34 yards to Givens.

Raudabaugh and Givens have teamed for three touchdowns in the last two games, including a 49-yard pass in the 31-16 loss to Ball State. At this point, Raudabaugh has thrown seven touchdown passes this season and Givens has six touchdown receptions (four from Raudabaugh, two from Clay Belton).

Givens now leads Miami in touchdowns overall. Thomas Merriweather, like Givens, had started the day with four touchdowns, but the sophomore running back did not make the trip to Toledo.

Miele Scores Again; MU Leads Michigan 2-0

Andy Miele tallied his second goal of the night with 18:08 remaining to give Miami a 2-0 lead over Michigan at Steve Cady Arena in Oxford. Gary Steffes delivered the puck to Miele near the goal, and Miele beat Wolverines goalie Billy Sauer. Chris Wideman also had an assist for the RedHawks.

Hockey: RedHawks Up 1-0 After 2

Andy Miele’s second-period goal has been the difference so far as Miami leads Michigan 1-0 after two periods at Steve Cady Arena in Oxford.

The RedHawks have a 30-28 advantage in shots. Cody Reichard has 14 saves for Miami and Billy Sauer has 15 for the Wolverines.

The third period is slated to start in about two minutes.
