Request for loan repayment escalates into mighty scuffle
DAYTON June 18 Officers responded to the 100 block of Martz Avenue and observed three males in the street — one had a baseball bat, another had a knife, and the third male (subject) was swinging a six-foot-long metal bed frame side rail at the other males. An officer ordered all three to drop their weapons and they complied. They were then placed in cruisers. A female on-scene had been hit in the shin with a bike thrown by the subject. He also threw a large, cinder block that struck her foot. She suffered a cut that was about five-inches long, an inch wide, and about 3/4 of an inch deep, exposing bone and tendons. The subject had loaned one of the males money the previous day and sent his girlfriend to collect it. She was told they didn’t have the money and went back and told the subject. He became angry, grabbed his pit bull and went down to the other male’s residence on Burkhardt Avenue. He entered the home with his dog, saying he wanted his money. The male told him to get the dog out because his two granddaughters were in the home. The subject then tried to get his dog to attack the resident and the other male there. The resident grabbed a large knife and the other male grabbed a bat because they thought the dog would attack. The subject went outside and picked up a bike and threw it inside, striking the female who was trying to move the kids out of the way. She picked up the bike and threw it back outside onto the porch. The subject then picked up the cinder block and threw it at her, hitting her right foot. She was taken to Miami Valley Hospital. The subject was arrested on charges of felonious assault and aggravated menacing.
