President Bush headed for Cleveland
President Bush may not be on the ballot this year but he’s still coming to Ohio, which was almost his second home during the 2004 campaign.
On Tuesday, July 29, Bush is scheduled to tour Lincoln Electric Holdings, a welding company, in Cleveland and talk about energy and the economy.
After that, he’s to participate in a Congressional Trust 2008 fundraiser in Gates Mills, a Cleveland suburb.
Meanwhile, Democrats plan to use the visit to try to link Bush and his low approval ratings with Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
Supporters of Barack Obama, McCain’s Democratic opponent for president, plan more than 30 phone banks and canvasses over the next two days aimed at showing that Ohio working families can’t afford any more “failed policies of George Bush and John McCain,” a Democratic press release said

When Bush took office, the Dow was around 10650, then came the Clinton recession and even worse, 9/11 and the Dow dropped to around 8600. It recovered to as high as 14,000 and currently is at 11,400. In 1981, when high taxes, low growth, high inflation Democrats ruled - the Dow was hovering around 1000. Reaganomics came about and the basic economic premises of it have been in play ever since. Obama and the Democrats want to take us back to the pre 1981 policies which had negative 5% GNP, 8%+ unemployment and 16% interest rates. In addition, history tells us in 1929 the Stock Market crash threw us into a recession; but, the raising of taxes took it to depression level. Ready to go there? DarkOBeast is right - FairTax needs a strong look (and yes, it does make provisions for the poor). If you think the economy is tough now, look out for the Dems.By mwm

Someday, we will be able to look back on the Bush years and remember one of the darkest times in american history. Hopefully, the history books will give an accurate assessement of Bush’s eight years….. Wars based upon lies, an energy policy for the oil companies and rich, no health care for the poor and elderly, no diplomacy, an attack on social security, ignoring our constitution, bailing out the criminal elements in his cabinet and, being a habitual liar for eight long years.By GW killed the economy

Is the stock market performance any indication of the health of the economy? Anyone checked the charts the last 7 1/2 years? George should hang his head in shame.By IdidnotvoteforBush

Way to go George! Wonder what he is going to say? Will he tell the truth and say the economy is in the worst shape ever and the energy policy has failed us all. Oh yeah! About the job you don’t have, it’s not my fault.By dark0beast

Thank you for showing your intelligence Parker. Please do not vote in November. How can anyone believe that by taking more money out of an economy in taxes that it will grow? Why don’t you look into real economic principles and laws and see how the FairTax HR25 S1025 will grow this economy normal +10 percent or more per year. Bring businesses back to America and make us strong again.By Parker
