Obama to campaign in Dayton area on Tuesday
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama will campaign in the Dayton area on Tuesday, Sept. 9, according to a Democratic official.
That means the Dayton area, at least for a day, will be at the center of this year’s presidential campaign and the battle for Ohio’s 20 electoral votes.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain and Sarah Palin, his running mate, also will be in the Dayton area on Tuesday. They’ll be at a morning rally in front of The Golden Lamb restaurant in Lebanon.
More details on the Obama event are expected to be available on Sunday, Sept. 7.

Painful: You’re right, reality does hurt and I know what McCain’s reality will bring. I’ll take a “leap of faith” over the realities of a third Bush term any day! And actually, TRS, I have read many of Mary’s posts and she has stated many times that she was undecided.By TRS

Anyone using the language of “collateral damage in wars, the toxic environment, and capitalistic greed” doesn’t strike me as an independent - thats liberal talking points personified. If thats your world view OK, but at least be honest with yourself and others about it. As for consistency, no one likes war. It may satisfy you emotionally to say such a thing but it is simply lacking in reality. What about the collateral damage of Saddam? Or that of Jihadists that would send mentally challenged women into a marketplace with a vest bomb? Of the evil in the Sudan, Rwanda? Sometimes you have to choose what is the greater good is and that can be a hard choice. Toxic environment - where? Try China, Russia - all non capitalistic societies. Unlike Al Gore’s claims, the jury is still out RE global warming. Did you know it hasn’t warmed in the last 10 years? Did you read that ship logs from the late 1700s reflect similar climate changes? Did you know scientists are do not agree on this issue? No one wants a toxic world but there are differing solutions. Rather than throwing out accusations lets argue solutions. RE life, don’t you believe compassion should extend to the victims and their families? Those who commit such horrible acts are tried, found guilty by a jury of their peers and given significant years to appeal. Few actually are executed. Tell me, what jury finds the unborn guilty? What is their appeal process? RE Capitalism - it provides jobs so people can provide for their families. Thousands who live in abject poverty would love such an opportunity. Are there excesses? Sure. Are there excesses in government? You bet. Is government a better solution? History reflects otherwise. Would you prefer a state run economy? Universal health care sounds great; but, the concern is that the government will ration it. Horror stories of government controlled health care abound. For instance, a 53 year old man on Medicaid in Oregon had cancer. The state denied him payment for treatment but did offer to pay for his assisted suicide. Think that can’t happen? It already has. So please, don’t give me this smug moral superiority or inferiority argument. It is the left who has has promoted situational ethics, lack of absolutes, seeking to eliminate the tradition of God and country as established by our forefathers and the list goes on. It is the left who throws around words like lies not because it is a reality, but because it makes them feel good. It is the extreme left who rejoiced at the death of Tony Snow on the Daily Kos website. It is the left who mocks the accomplishments of a young woman from Alaska. The Obama website says he will be campaigning in Lebanon, VA on Tuesday Sept. 9th. However, the Barack Obama West Dayton Campaign for Change Office will be opening on that day.By Mary

I would also like to throw in another adjective about the far right - inconsistent. You seem to only be for life until a child is borne. Then life is fair game in wars and other miseries including the death penalty which sometimes penalizes the innocent. Where is the far right concern for the sanctity of life in these cases?By Mary

Barry, if the far right was as passionate about the life of the borne child and the adult human beings written off as collateral damage in wars, the toxic environment, and capitalistic greed, the far right would perhaps earn some respect. Right now, these tangential issues regarding morality come off as ignorant, cheap, self righteous, judgmental, evil and misinformed. I am an independent voter who might not vote for McCain because of his pandering to the far right on issues such as this.By Sherry

I’m sure that Bush-Palin er excuse me McCain-Palin are telling lies about what they will do for this country. I don’t want more of the same where has the past eight years gotten us? Palin is annoying she has done nothing but attack other candidates during her speeches which isn’t necessary let’s talk about the issues. She should have been a pitbull with that loose, knocked up daughter of hers and maybe she wouldn’t be a grandmother at 44 years of age. That’s just what we need to run the country. Naming her daughter after a racetrack was a good call because she sure is fast!By Sherry

Maybe if these close minded conservative would teach their children more then abstinence only (They forget they were teenagers once upon a time). People wouldn’t find their grandchildren stuff in a closet! Just ask Palin how well abstinence only works.By Barry

If I had the spare time to take off work I would like to go with a sign that says “life begins at conception” on one side and “abortion is murder-murder is evil” on the other. Wow, one sentence sums up a truth that is so simple the “great Obama” and most of his followers can’t even grasp it in 500 words or less. Maybe something that says “closets are for coats, not babies that need medical help” would be cool.By painfultruth

If you go to see Obama, make sure you bring your video camera. I’m SURE he’ll part the waters of the river and anoint your heads with oil. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, step right up and see the biggest smoke and mirrors act since P.T. Barnum ran the Greatest Show on Earth! Yes indeed, watch Obama magically raise your taxes and make your wallet disappear! He then will cause global warming to reverse, cure cancer and make even unfriendly nations peaceful friends! Yep, the man who has not even brought a single bill to the senate in his short history has told you everything you want to hear! Just remember that HOPE usually leads to disappointment! The DEmocratic controlled congress has a far lower rating than President Bush, yet the lemmings are preparing to once again jump off the cliff in a true leap of faith. Watch out for the rocky landing as REALITY HURTS!By bill
