Biden heads for northern Ohio
While Republican Sarah Palin has been getting all the headlines, Democrats also have a vice presidential candidate.
That’s Delaware U.S. Sen. Joe Biden who’s coming to Ohio on Wednesday, Sept. 17, and Thursday, Sept. 18 for a two-day campaign bus trip.
Biden’s first stop will be in Maumee, near Toledo, for a rally on Wednesday morning in the 100 block of West Wayne Street, the Obama-Biden campaign announced on Monday, Sept. 15. Doors open at 7:30 a.m.
The event is open to the public, but an RSVP is encouraged at ohio.barackobama.com.
Tickets are required at two other Biden rallies and distribution sites are listed at ohio.barackobama.com.
Biden is to hold a rally in Wooster on Wednesday at the College of Wooster, Kauke Hall, South Lawn. Gates open at 4 p.m.
On Thursday, Biden will be at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton for a rally. Doors open at 8 a.m. for the 9:30 a.m. event.
Biden will have to compete for attention in Ohio with Palin and GOP presidential candidate John McCain.
Palin is scheduled to be at a Canton fundraiser on Monday, a Cincinnati fundraiser on Tuesday, Sept. 16 and a Dayton-area fundraiser on Wednesday.
Also, on Tuesday she and McCain will be at a Youngstown area “Victory 2008 Rally” at Winner Aviation, 1453 Youngstown Kingsville NE in Vienna.

Obama and Biden are going to inherit one heck of a mess. Do you believe they have a better chance in putting this country back on track, or do you believe that McCain and Palin can do it. So far, the GOP message sounds a lot like Bush and Cheney. How much more taxes are you paying because the federal government is no longer paying the freight for something in Ohio? Has your sales tax gone up, wheel tax? property tax? park user fees — the list is endless. The middle class is getting poorer, one nickel and dime at a time.By M Meyer

actually the Bush policies that are causing our country to crumble is his spending money like; a) it isn’t his, b) a drunken sailor on shore leave, c) most democrats (Strickland is an exception to the rule with his government spending cuts, I will probably vote for him again if he keeps it up)By Barry

sometimes the local weather girl is the smartest one on the newsteam. usually the weather people have actual degrees and brains that work as opposed to pretty talking faces like the rest of most news crews. I am not saying that is the case with Palin, but it is a good general rule of thumbBy Mike

OH-MA GAWD, Cawren!!! There you go again! How in the world can we expect voters to make a rational choice when you keep confusing ‘em with all dem facts-n-stuff??? You’re just supposed to say “MAVERICK, MAVERICK, MAVERICK”, “HOCKEY MOM AND MOOSE HUNTER”, “BRIDGE TO NOWHERE—-NO THANKS!”, “P-O-W, P-O-W, P-O-W”, “ELITE, ELITE, ELITE LIBERALS”. Damn, it would be comical, wouldn’t it, if these weren’t such serious times? But, to quote the McCain’s campaign manager, “This election is not about issues. This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates.”…..Just let that sink in a minute. When a candidate is on the wrong side of the issues, when your entire platform rests on the perpetuation of the Bush policies which are causing our economy to crumble, then all you are left with are petty personal invective and demonizing of those with whom you disagree. And that is the campaign of last resort that John McCain, with the help of Karl Rove and his band of merry men, is now waging. One word—-PATHETIC.By Ethel S.

Sen. Biden is known as the Senator from MBNA because of his cozy relationship with the Delaware credit card companies. A review of his 2007 tax return showed, Joe Biden gave about $500 to charity in 2007. Biden is just a talk machine without an impressive legislative career except to help the big banks and credit card companies. Didn’t his son just resign as a lobbyist?By Barry

that is the problem with this election, I can not say 5 good things about either canidate, that is why “none of the above” is looking so good, or maybe a write in for Cthulu. trust me comparing McCain’s charisma to warm oatmeal is saying something nice about him (for me anyways). maybe his mocking of pork barrel spending on the senate floor counts. those rants were always good for a laugh (even though they never got any thing done, it did expose some roaches to the light of day)By Pace

Cawren thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. There’s only one more irony to this story. McCain who has been in Congress for 26 years now wants to change DC. So what was he doing the last 26 years? Oh that’s right collecting $765,000 from the telecommunication lobby staffers alone in 2007. Got it!By Barry

5 good things about either canidate? Barak-gives a good speech, has lots of charisma, is really good at fundraising, is always present. McCain-on a good day has the charisma of warm oatmeal, but is less likely to ruin our economy with increasing federal spending thru the roof with big government give aways. that is all the good things I can think of either oneBy Maria

I was a republican until Bush betrayed us on the War, economy, Healthcare etc…I feel Joe Biden will be the best Vice President, because he represent leadership and responsibility. He is a stellar with blue collar working class people and his Foriegn Affairs out weights the best and I am very disappointed in the way America has given so much attention to a small town girl who does not have the same qualification as a sales clerk at Walmart. This is a very important job, and this kind of behavior on the republican side is just palin stupid act to try to distract everyone from doing the right thing to vote Obama and Biden…People need to educate themselve about CHANGE. Obama education and skills out weights McCain because he was only a (D) student that practice the same tactics for over 26yrs of the same old knowledge he had for years. He just was collecting a paycheck not helping the American people not Country first…let’s not be fool by the bad advertisment on TV all lies about Obama/Biden ticket. We are too smart for that kind of insane Mccain message that was written by the same Bush team Karl Rove, so there you have it America Wake up and Do the responsible than for your family and neighbors and USA. Obama/Biden ) “08 is the ticket for Change you can believe in…Win Win Win God Bless the USABy Maria

I was very upset yesterday with with This Week with George S.on ABC TV Sunday. George stated there were 2 new ads out, one by the McCain campaign and one by the Obama campaign. He and his panel, according to George, were supposed to critique both ads. The station then showed both ads. Then the panel and George S. discussed the ad put out by the Obama campaign. The ad put out by the McCain campaign stating “Obama is lying” never was discussed. Instead the panel and George went into a totally different area concerning Sex Education and the Obama stand on this bill. I went to hear Donna Brazille speak in Toledo last Tuesday night. She stated think of 5 positive things concerning your candidate and tell it to people. The media should concern themselves with more of this and less of the trash we are getting! Our country is in serious trouble and the more we hear about how the candidates plan to help us out of the “George Bush” mess, the better the public will be informed. I believe Obama is very intelligent, caring, a leader, one who can lead us out of the economy crisis this great country is facing. He has shown great strength in adverse conditions, being brought up by a single parent and his grandparents, and having a definite plan to help the middle class people. Let us hear more of plans and less attacks. MaxineBy Barry

What I find particularly galling is that McCain said Pailin…”knows more about energy than anyone else in America”. This is both demonstrably false (LIE) and complete pandering to buff her extremely thin resume. Yes, she served (as a political appointee) on the AK oil and gas commission — which is where she learned of the corruption in the AK GOP that she used to sneak into state office herself. But even if you couple that relatively light experience with being able to “see Russia from Alaska”, you still come up with a highly unqualified candidate one heartbeat away from Putin, China, a Pakistan in revolt, famine, global warming, failing economies…. Palin is Barbie meets Tom Clancy foreign policy… a true disaster.By Cawren

Obama McCain Palin I’m a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight….. If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you’re “exotic, different”. If you grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, it’s a quintessential American story. If you graduate from Harvard law School, you are unstable. If you attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you’re well grounded. If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate’s Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing state of 3 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran’s Affairs committees, you don’t have any real leadership experience. If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you’re qualified to become the country’s second highest ranking executive. If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 daughters, all within Protestant churches, you’re not a real Christian. If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you’re a Christian. If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society. If,while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state’s school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you’re responsible. If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family’s values don’t represent America’s. If your husband is nicknamed “First Dude”, with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn’t register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable. OK, much clearer now.
