Who won the VP debate?

Democrat Joe Biden and Republican Sarah Palin debated for 90 minutes on Thursday, Oct. 2, in the only vice presidential debate of the presidential campaign.

The stakes were high for both candidates.

Biden needed to show that he could demonstrate his grasp of the economy, foreign policy and other key issues without coming off as verbose and condescending.

After stumbling in network television interviews, Palin needed to show that she has what it takes to be a heartbeat away from the most powerful elected position in the world.

Here’s your chance to size up their performances.

“But who is anyone to judge what other people do, or for that matter make the choices for them?” You’re using a .edu email and you write that way? Go ask for your money back. We all have to judge what others do. That’s what a community does. We decide what is acceptable and what the penalty for acting outside of that will be. Laws are the judgement of the people about what is acceptable. Sadly killing babies is right now and will be more under Obama.

Obama is for late term abortion. He is for allowing an aborted baby who surives to die without treatment outside of the mother. Obama is not a friend of pro life. Don’t sling the rape/incest shell argument around. The smallest minority is in that group. Babies are killed to keep from being a penalty for the mother. Ask Obama, he sees an unwanted prenancy is a penalty for a daughter, not as a life.

as far as referring to abortion as being a baby killer. if you can step out of your hole for a minutes and realize people are raped and molested everyday. When you do take a step out of that hole, imagine your wife, daughter, neice, or neighbor being the victim- would you want them to go through that? Maybe if you are a man. But who is anyone to judge what other people do, or for that matter make the choices for them? This is not a case of democrat or republican- this is a case of health. If you are not making a decision that would rock your entire world, no one should worry about those who have to make that decision- and who are you to want to take that away from someone else. No matter who the president- we need choice and change.

Here is the main stream media read after the Biden/Palin Debate. Palin wins on style and Biden wins on substance. And here is my view of it, Biden had so many mistakes in his substance regarding the legislative records of both candidates, he loses by a large margin. The fact that a 30+ year Senator had to struggle so hard to keep up with the sharp and informative answers of Gov. Palin was made Sarah the winner. For example, when asked about the gay marriage issues, Gov. Palin gave the correct definition we had now (marriage between one man and one woman), said she was tolerant of gay people and their civil rights, but was opposed to gay marriage. After a couple of go a rounds, Gov. Biden finally admitted they agreed on opposing gay marriage. But here is what I really liked about Gov. Palin’s debate and answers. She looked right into the camera and eyes of the American people and said that with a McCain/Palin administration, the taxpayers would not be taken advantaged of again. She come through as sincere and a fighter for the causes of the American people. Way to go, girl! Our family is completely behind you because you put the USA first!

So you idiots cite traffic offenses and of course don’t say it’s a traffic ticket trying to infer it’s something worse. Typical democrat tactic. As for nObama’s degrees, big deal, ton’s of people from Harvard out there, he still would not have been nominated if the lib idiots and their white sorrow for slavery hadn’t backed him. He’s less than nothing special, and his promoted race is what got him where he is.

PALIN: Said of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama: “94 times he voted to increase taxes or not support a tax reduction.” THE FACTS: The dubious count includes repetitive votes as well as votes to cut taxes for the middle class while raising them on the rich. An analysis by factcheck.org found that 23 of the votes were for measures that would have produced no tax increase at all, seven were in favor of measures that would have lowered taxes for many, 11 would have increased taxes on only those making more than $1 million a year. PALIN: “Two years ago, remember, it was John McCain who pushed so hard with the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reform measures. He sounded that warning bell.” THE FACTS: Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska led an effort in 2005 to tighten regulation on the mortgage underwriters — McCain joined as a co-sponsor a year later. The legislation was never taken up by the full Senate, then under Republican control. PALIN: Said the United States has reduced its troop level in Iraq to a number below where it was when the troop increase began in early 2007. THE FACTS: Not correct. The Pentagon says there are currently 152,000 U.S. troops in Iraq, about 17,000 more than there were before the 2007 military buildup began. PALIN: Said Alaska is “building a nearly $40 billion natural gas pipeline, which is North America’s largest and most expensive infrastructure project ever to flow those sources of energy into hungry markets.” THE FACTS: Not quite. Construction is at least six years away.

John McCain has made a mockery of American politics by selecting Sarah Palin as his running mate. Palin’s selection, which wouldn’t fly in any field that requires credentials, is a testament to the Republican propaganda machine. The fact that a large segment of the population has bought into the notion that education, knowledge, and intellect doesn’t matter, is truly baffling and very troubling. We should all be outraged that John McCain has put our country at risk by attempting such a cynical political stunt.

One thing for sure is Dayton is full of know-nothing bleding heart liberals that depend on “the government” spoon feeding them for their survival. It’s a sorry state of affairs. What is troubling is the outward hatred of REpublicans. Democrats only want more control of YOUR personal life, and WANT you to be dependent upon “government”. You weak minded fools can’t support yourselves, so you blindly follow Obama and Biden. Too bad you supposed “adults” need the nanny goernment to run your lives! You can’t do it on your own, can you? In one breath Palin says we need more regulation, in the next breath she says government needs to get of the way. Palin didn’t even know the McCain campaign had pulled out of Michigan. She heard about it on the news, because she doesn’t seem to read papers, and because she’s not in the loop of her own campaign. Now they’re saying no more interviews, questions, or press conferences with Palin. She’s nothing more then a theatrical campaign prop, fueled by her own blind ambition.

To anyone trying to do the math….there is 300 million people in the US. 700 Billion divided by 300 million is approximatley 2,300 per person. Granted that this amount would increase if only given to adults who are working or who can prove that they have been working. But to the guy who said that 750 Billion given back to the people would be 2 million dollars per person, better check your math bud.

These debates are silly. If they wanted real discourse, they would ask questions that would require logic, problem-solving, synthesis of information, and the ability to think quickly and specifically. AND, the moderator would have a buzzer, or preferably a tazer, that they would use to stop the reply the moment it goes off topic or uses a buzz word or catch phrase! Sarah Palin would fail miserably under such a scenario, just as she did in the lightweight Katie Couric interview. Don’t you think we’ve had enough double-speak? Why can’t we elect an intelligent AND experienced man, or woman, of the caliber of Colin Powell? There is someone who can think on his feet, and speak clearly. If Colin Powell were in the same room with ALL of these Presidential and VP candidates, they would be seen as insignificant and sophomoric. Why is our system so screwed up that we can’t even nominate a qualified candidate, regardless of party affiliation? They are all second or third string players, at best—shameless self-promoters who enjoy the sound of their voices. I yelled outloud for Sarah Palin to just shut up last night. It was all one big WHINE… to me. The pitch patterns of her voice, the “great white north” ‘isms. The references to “up there,” like she is from some foreign country? Well, yeah, she is. Alaska is basically a depressed, under-educated state with a culture of it’s own. I hope other people were screaming too!! And to ask Biden “Can I call you Joe?” only to turn around and use that casually in a dig later in the debate was rude and an obvious set-up. Pardon my Alaskan, but this woman is simply a manipulative female sled-dog. Period.

The pundits are who get me; why would they seriously consider her to even have tied or held a candle to Joe Biden? She stated that she would not adhere to the rules of the debate. She talked around the questions and did not answer most; especially on (I paraphrase) “What would you give up to account for the passing of this bailout bill?” Generally, Republicans don’t know how to manage the government and they mess(sic) it up badly when they are left to guard the hen house. They just know how to parrot their talking points. Smaller government… crawhh! Less government… crawhh! Lower taxes… crawhh! Government out of our private lives (except when making personal decisions like who we love, pregnancy)… crawhh!

Palin would not be able to “cram” for weeks prior to a meeting with the likes of Putin or other leaders in the world. She would not have the time to “cram” for a national crisis or look up answers on Wikipedia. McCain chose her as a political stunt. His choice of Palin as his running mate shows a total disregard for our country.. Perhaps McCain has stock in a fashion eyeware company. But, Palin is incapable of the job. She lost the debate. Mainly because all her answers lacked knowledge and substance. She also resorted to republican talking points when she had no answer. Which was often. Her little cute chick routine does not work. If, in the unlikely event the VP had to assume the presidency, I see Joe Biden as the best choice to lead our country. Palin would only be a pawn and would not be able to lead our country. The republicans that are supporting McCain are not thinking with a full deck. McCain and Palin are not “mavericks” They are more of the same Bush agenda politics. And, would continue the failure management of Bush. It is important to look at the past eight years so that we do not continue or repeat the failure policies of the republican agenda.

nObama has been a Senator for a minute. He started running for president almost immediately upon getting elected to the Senate. He was a “community organizer” what ever the heck that is. He was a state senator who did diddly squat while in office there. He hasn’t run anything, he’s never had to worry about a payroll. He is not in the main stream. You people supporting him have got to know that he looks down his nose at all of us. He is not of us, he is above us. Palin’s family in 2 years donated over $8000 to charity. nObama hasn’t given anything other than to his racist preacher. He doesn’t even take care of his brother who is living in a hut in a third world ghetto. Why in the heck would you support someone who associates with criminal terrorists, who attends a racist church, who is an admitted felon himself? nObama has violated numerous state and federal laws and wrote about it in one of his I love me books. How in the heck can you idiots support that? Am I happy with McCain? Nope, not even a little, but compare their backgrounds, compare their associations. Compare the responsibilities they have had over the years. There is no comparison between the 2. If Biden wasn’t such a blatant liar I could support him easier than the other 2 for prez. Palin is one of the main stream. She is a working mother, she understands budgets, she hasn’t had anything handed to her. Her approval ratings in her home state are huge. Even former Clinton staffers are supporting Palin over the nObama ticket. You are known by the company you keep. If you were best friends with a terrorist how would your friends feel about you? This guy cannot be the next president of the US. He is a product of the sleaze of Chicago.

With all the problems with health care in this country, this is exactly the wrong thing to do. Ned what I said was that I value a baby’s life more than that of a death row inmate. An innocent baby hasn’t made the decisions a death row inmate has. I see you don’t let facts get in the way of a good argument huh!

I had a moment of clarity during last night’s debate. As I watched Sarah Palin clumsily dodge and obfuscate, I came to understand for the first time the basis of her appeal: dumb is in in America! Mediocre is the new fabulous! Move over Britney and Paris, here comes Sarah! Seriously, given Palin’s one-note performance and gimmicky delivery, it’s no wonder right-wing media outlets are scrambling feverishly today to broaden the scope of their favorite epithet, “elitist”, and hurl it at any Democrat they can find. By these bastardized standards, any moderate or liberal who displays even an iota of competence is to be categorized as an elitist snob. I grew up on a farm without running water and didn’t get my degree until I was 60 but, since I was one of the 65%-70% of viewers of last night’s debate who rated Biden’s efforts as more presidential than Palin’s, according to Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, that makes me nothing more than an elitist. Mom and Dad would be so proud!

Typical liberal response. You probably ignore the fact that abortion in a VAST majority of all instances is used for “convenience” not a medical necessity. You can argue all your points but killing a baby is WRONG. Anyone who wants to play God by determining the time of death, and I do mean death, of a living human should go to jail!

Palin clearly won the debate. A lot of topics were covered except abortion. The finest health and education systems, the fairest immigration laws, and the soundest economy do nothing for the child who never sees the light of day! It is a tragic irony that ‘pro-choice’ candidates have come to support homicide – the gravest injustice a society can tolerate – in the name of ‘social justice’. Abortion is the civil rights issue of out generation. Palin and McCain have the life issues right. Obama/Biden will expand abortions and taxpayers will pay. 1.3 million murdered children every yr in the US alone

Dear Buckeye in NC.. abortion is not all about birthcontrol. How about these facts.. some girls get raped by their own reletives.. do they have to remain pregnant? How about the fetus is discovered to not have a brain (as we know a brain)… Extinuating circumstances - abortion may be the answer.. shouldn’t it be up to the one who is pregnant? How can you judge her? How can you tell her? Would you want to be that child of someone who will be instiutionalized until death? Please consider these facts when arguing right/wrong. Just think for a minute. I decided to carry my baby - without anyone’s best wishes.. glad I did but I believe in other people’s rights to make their own decisions, especially early in the pregnancy. I respect your right to disagree.. just promise to think one minute how a person could feel. Thank you

You can only control yourself. What is the Obama camp doing? Last I read the Republicans were trying to stop voters from registering and voting at the same time. It can be spun to benefit anyone. If who someone knows or associates with is more important than your economy and the troops in Iraq then that is a great thing to base a vote on and by all means vote for McCain. If he wins we will see more of the same. With a Democratic government and a Republican President I bet a lot will get done.

He stands for everything that is wrong with Europe. Go over to Europe and live for awhile, then listen to the propaganda that Obama speaks. You will see it clearly. The reason I won’t vote for Obama has nothing to do with his race, it has to do with his backround and associates. However, not voting for him because he is black is no worse than voting for him just because he’s black. Check out the activities of early voting in Ohio. I am voting Democratic because I am not really worried about my inequality under the law. Affirmative action is a worthy program that has some regrettable parts, but overall makes me feel a lot better. Freedom and Equality are just relative terms, anyway. People hold up the Civil War volunteers and the Tuskegee Airmen as examples of patriots fighting for their ideals. But were they really fighting for the greater good, or were they just fooled into fighting on false government pretenses: did anyone see the shells hit Fort Sumter; Germany had nothing to do with Pearl Harbor. I think they were just self-interested guys who were lied to by their government. No more for me thank you, I’m voting Democratic.

I feel as though the pretenses for the war were false. Bush had a score to settle for his daddy. And I believe Obama voted no on the war. My husband has a very good education and job. He works for a govenment contractor who researches, studies, and builds items for the military. His paycheck comes from the earmarks McCain wants to cut. So who loses? We do, my kids do, the soldiers who are fighting across the world, and their parents, wives, husbands, children, grandchildren. Everyone has a different situation and for someone to say “If you want money in the bank and food on the table, don’t take it out of my hard-earned. You need to get control over your life and keep the government out.” That is ludicrous. I put myself through college, if something would have happened to my husband I would have had to quit school, work 2 jobs to pay for daycare and living expenses. Everyone’s situation is different. And it’s hard to keep the government out when they take almost have your paycheck. out of a 2000.00 bonus only 1200 was brought home. I wish I could keep the government out. Raoul you are one of the lucky ones. You are an oddity. I hope you are never faced with the situation Dan is or the other people who are barely getting by. Everyone expected Palin to fail but she didn’t. She also didn’t stray from her well rehearsed subject matter. While Biden was out campaigning and giving interviews, Palin was at debate boot camp with the best coaches in the world. She frequently avoided the question asked & confidently veered to one of her well rehearsed answers in a folksy way, with her Fargo accent, throwing in a few winks for good measure (as if her sex appeal would override the critical answers needed). Joe Biden’s 15 Lies TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted ?the exact same way? as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, Drill we must.'' But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to raping the Outer Continental Shelf. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it's passage. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he's always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain's record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people's health insurance coverage they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska ? she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it's not a windfall profits tax. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO's International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain wasdead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won’t pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan. RESOLUTION ON IRAQ WAR: Biden said he only voted to force UN to participate in removing Saddam Hussein. That is a lie. The resolution he voted yes on was to invade Iraq with military force.

Dan, the Democrat’s voted to go to war in Iraq, then tried to lose it by admitting defeat to hang it all on Bush. Saddam Hussein had WMD’s, used them, and after the Gulf War never came clean what he did or did not have. Bill Clinton gave Halliburton no-bid contracts. If you are making minimum wage, why should we make your employer pay you more? Democrats are in power now in Dayton and Ohio; and the unemployment rate reflects it. If corporations had to pay more in taxes, they would charge you more for gas and food, which you already apparantly can’t afford. If you are concerned about Dayton, look who the Mayor is and who controls the local government. If you want money in the bank and food on the table, don’t take it out of my hard-earned. You need to get control over your life and keep the government out. And don’t let those predatory lenders force you into buying a home you can’t afford, because I don’t want to bail you out. I’m voting Republican because I love the fact that unemployment is 6.1% nationally and 7.2% in Dayton. I’m voting Republican because it’s unfair that 68% of all corporations doing business in the USA did not have to pay any corporate income taxes and that figure should be raised to 100% of all corporations. I’m voting Republican because I’m flattered to know that Dayton Metro area is on the Forbes Magazine list of top 10 most dying cities at #4 and want to be ranked #1. Yes, I am certainly voting Republican because I do not want money in the bank nor food on my table

JOE BIDEN’S 15 LIES TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.” TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people’s health insurance coverage — they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska — she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it’s not a windfall profits tax. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation — he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.” REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won’t pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan. “The Bush administration let Hezbollah into Lebanon, and then when “we threw them out” Hezbollah’s been there since the early 1980’s of course, blossoming throughout the 1990’s to become now over a third of the population of Lebanon with 2 cabinet members, a host of parliamentarians, and schools, clinics, and basically an entirely separate governance infrastructure in all of southern Lebanon and elsewhere.

Gov. Palin held her own in the debate but you need to ask yourself if its 3am and there is a crisis would she be able to handle it. With her answers last night I don’t think she can. Folksy is cute but in a crisis, is that what people look for? In the Wall St. crisis Palin was seen jogging and laying low, not engaged. Also Palin did not completely understand that a VP only votes in case of a tie. Palin would also want more powers for a VP, just like VP Cheney. Palin also misstated a generals name twice.

I am voting Democrat… I’m voting Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would. I’m voting Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it. I’m voting Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I trust that the bad guys will stop what they’re doing because they now think we’re good people. I’m voting Democrat because I believe that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday CAN tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don’t start driving a Prius. I’m voting Democrat because I’m not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive. I’m voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as Government sees fit. I’m voting Democrat because I believe three or four elitist liberals need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would NEVER get their agendas past the voters. I’m voting Democrat because I believe that when the terrorists don’t have to hide from us over there, they will come over here and then we can reason with them… respectfully. I’m voting Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want… guy, gal, pet, farm critter… whatever (even though we might have to live in California or Massachusetts). Firstly, the best indication of how the independents and undecided thought was Frank Lutz’s group and response shown on politico. Palin won overwhemingly. To anyone with a brain, the only way 4500 indiviauls have come to anything Cox publishes to respond to a poll is just pathetically non plausible, to wit, the Obama ACORN paid bloggers stuffing your ballot poll box. Palin should have told the world the real truth is the financial meltdown is attributed to the Dems wanting the poor to use food stamps and welfare checks to pay for mortgages all the while Obama was suing the government if Fannie Mae didn’t provide more bad loans to those who couldn’t afford it.

Wow. It’s funny how so many people can watch the same thing and walk away with different perspectives. Sarah Palin was giving a speech last night not a debate. She was very patronizing and her voice was irritating. “You’re darned right.” People say she is just like us- I laugh- unless of course you have a plane in your backyard. Biden did look down at stats but he debated and you could here the sincerity in his voice. All Palin could go back to was energy. McCain has shown his true colors in the past weeks. He has already conceded Michigan to Obama. He has given up on them. He doesn’t give a crap about anyone but himself and what he can do to further himself. He does what he needs to do to win the press for that day. Either he has poor judgement or his campaign manager is purposely trying to lose the election for him. Oh and “Teacher”- I hope you are really not a teacher b/c clearly you are out of touch with what has been going on and if you actually think that McCain is going to win after the last 2 weeks he has had? The question is who won. Biden won being able to answer the questions asked. Palin just kept providing over and over her script speech about energy, taxes, and mavericks. She really scares me to step into the Presidency if the old man McCain should ever croak. I am sad that people will not vote for Obama/Biden because of the race card. I am not sure if Law Enforcement Protection stats are correct about blacks, but we Americans have had a hand on these effects on this race. I hate to bring up the slavery issue and how we tore the black family apart. Abraham Lincoln (Republican) saw the necessity to treat this race as humans and not animals. This race fought hard to be able to vote and I am so happy to see America has come to terms to be able to overlook the black issue and see the person they can be. Obama may have made a mistake with drugs, but he came clean about it and didn’t try to cover it up. I think he is a good role model for every race and allows people to see there are dreams (Martin Luther King) and dreams can be obtain. I feel these two people can be diplomats to change the perception of the world from being cowboys to a world class and respectable country. I am fortunate to live in a country that can have a black person as a Presidential candidate and a female as a Vice Presidential candidate. McCain has a lot of skeletons in his closet and I am sure Palin does too. Palin needs to have more years and experience in politics so she is not a Washington outsider and understand all the issues, so she is able to answer them.

McCain has bent over backwards to appeal to the fringe element of the party while taking moderate republicans for granted. Palin is an example; she is not a good choice for VP or President. The McCain/Pallin approach to deregulation and being pro-business over the issues of economy, security, environment and healthcare would make our economy and lives even less stable. After the crash of 1929, the financial sector became regulated. We had relatively steady growth until Reagan de-regulated it in the 1980s. We had the biggest crash since 1929 in 1987. Since then our economy has been “Boom and Bust”. Which is great for the rich who can weather the storms but bad for the rest of us. Due to deregulation we have lost pensions, benefits and yes, even our jobs. Biden understands this and wants to help people who make up the bulk of corporate functionality. Palin doesn’t care and wants to help corporate execs who will simply move on to the next gross money-making scheme. I’m voting Democratic for many good reasons.

I read as much comments as I could tolerate; Sara Palin came across as a scripted little girl who in body language and tone of voice bowed to the fatherly Senator Biden who has volumes of experience, insight, diplomatic approach to government and would make an excellent Vice President to President Barack Obama who rather than being a socialist is a very fine Christian!! I find it telling whenever I hear a republican call a democrat socialist when they really mean they stand up for the poor, elderly, widowed and young.

BIDEN: Complained about “economic policies of the last eight years” that led to “excessive deregulation.” THE FACTS: Biden voted for 1999 deregulation that liberal groups are blaming for part of the financial crisis. The law allowed Wall Street investment banks to create the kind of mortgage-related securities at the core of the problem now. The law was widely backed by Republicans as well as by Democratic President Clinton, who argues it has stopped the crisis today from being worse. BIDEN: Warned that Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s $5,000 tax credit to help families buy health coverage “will go straight to the insurance company.” THE FACTS: Of course it would, because it’s meant to pay for insurance. That’s like saying money for a car loan will go straight to the car dealer. BIDEN: Said McCain supports tax breaks for oil companies, and “wants to give them another $4 billion tax cut.” THE FACTS: Biden is repeating a favorite saw of the Obama campaign, and it’s misleading. McCain supports a cut in income taxes for all corporations, and doesn’t single out any one industry for that benefit. BIDEN: “As a matter of fact, John recently wrote an article in a major magazine saying that he wants to do for the health care industry — deregulate it and let the free market move — like he did for the banking industry.” THE FACTS: Biden and Obama have been perpetuating this distortion of what McCain wrote in an article for the American Academy of Actuaries. McCain, laying out his health plan, only referred to deregulation when saying people should be allowed to buy health insurance across state lines. In that context, he wrote: “Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation.” BIDEN: “The charge is absolutely not true. Barack Obama did not vote to raise taxes. The vote she’s referring to, John McCain voted the exact same way.” THE FACTS: The vote was on a nonbinding budget resolution that assumed that President Bush’s tax cuts would expire, as scheduled, in 2011. If that actually happened, it could mean higher taxes for people making as little as about $42,000. But Obama is proposing tax increases only on the wealthy, and would cut taxes for most others. In the March 14 budget resolution supported by Obama and Biden, McCain actually did not vote.

Though she did better than I expected her to, it was obvious that Palin had memorized a lot of the information she was giving up there. Also I thought all of her “Well golly gee I’m just a Washington outsider” comments were patronizing. I was hoping to watch a presidential debate, not a beauty pageant. As much as I don’t like Biden it was obvious he is far more prepared for this job than her. First thing I would vote either way for the best “person” not party lines..that being said, you stated “We have not changed our lifestyle and are careful with planning and budgets, and the last time we could breathe the least bit easy, Clinton was in office.”….umm I guess you think that 911 plans started the day Bush took the office? Trust me it would have taken place who ever was president…do you think they would have said oh sorry will will not come back again,to hurt the USA? I would think that you was not the only one that could “Breathe” easier… while Clinton was in office…I am sure as he was taking care of “stiffer” ideas he,the plane highjackers, Ms.M,and any others involved in evil acts could too. Do you think anyone can do a “quick fix” for the actions that have “failed” our country while 911 was being planned, and after it was carried out? It will take time and all of us will feel the crunch…I know when I was younger I had to “wait” if I wanted something bad enough…there is no magic promise that is going to make us breathe easier…just ask one of the guys in Iraq that is not ready to let go of the idea yet…he will have a vision of 72 virgins and be worshiped…. til our job is done….he too was able to”Breathe” easier while Clinton was in office…trust me our sons and daughters husbands and wives was not breathing down his neck then…he knew where our president was and what we was all talking about….the guy “Breathing” easier during the after hour desk meetings….of course there we go again..two people in the white house”Breathing easier”…most do after that act…unless you don’t think it is sex? I too had better times, more money, and less fears….but ask anyone who lost a loved one to 911 or the war….they would take our hard times in a second…then the loss. I am proud of our military..and I know that the job they are doing anywhere in the world makes me “Breathe” easier…even if I have to go through lay offs, less money and hard times….sit down and talk to the elderly..they will tell you nothing comes easy after hard times or life changing events…you just may have to do like they did…and wait for the better times..nothing last forever

I still have a couple of issues with Palin’s performance that make me question her abilities to be 2nd in line for the Presidency… a) how many times can you use the word ‘maverick’ and it still work for you? b) by her own admission ‘I have only been doing this for 5 weeks’ c) a wink, a smile, darn right… isn’t going to get you very far in a position of power with our country and foreign nations. Also, we say ‘who won’ as if this is the debate club at school. That should not be the question. The question should be who do you believe could be the President if somethings happens to the #1. What is killing this election is people’s blind partisonship to this election. Everyone wants to lean right or lean left. Look at the issues!!! Be factual. Investigate what they say instead of liking someone because they make you FEEL good about something and just taking them at their word. Palin missed some facts, but Biden missed some flat yes or no facts. By the AP fact check, Biden “misrepresented” more times than Palin. If people cannot be truthful about facts that happened in the past (that we can go back and check) how can you expect them to be truthful about the future? Palin didn’t answer, because she might not have honestly knew…. I respect that she didn’t lie just so she could answer.

Obama/Binden will make us just like Europe, write it down it will happen. Biden is a lier and if your looking for Change electing Obama the only change you will have is bigger Government, handouts, and loss of freedoms, oh wait that is what most of you want.. silly me. We live in a society where the middle class are the new poor. Had I just dated my husband instead of marrying him, we could have had our children without all of the debt that we now face. If you attempt to live the standard American Dream righteously (i.e. pursue education, get married, buy a home)you are penalized at a much higher cost for attempting to do the right thing than all of the “ball droppers” who were never fully interested in diligently staying the course. A commitment to decency and hard work now means little, and the working class are house poor and drowning in student loan and credit card debts that they cannot even begin to repay with meager salaries at low paying jobs. I don’t pretend to have any answers, but what I do know is this… We have not changed our lifestyle and are careful with planning and budgets, and the last time we could breathe the least bit easy, Clinton was in office. Sometimes the lesser of two evils is simply the best choice. Vote democrat.

By Biden Lied 14 Times

October 3, 2008 8:28 AM | Link to this

Joe Biden’s 14 Lies TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.” REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won’t pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

Wes, You democrats need to take a look at yourselves. You are responsible for the biggest bailout in history. Your Barney Frank and his gang of thieves refused to permit greater oversight and now you’ve cost us almost a trillion bux. That sits squarely on your party’s shoulders. We can go back through history and prove that each party has idiots, thieves and murderers. We can prove that your party had KKK elected leaders, that your party members drowned women in cars and on and on. Your party is promoting an admitted criminal user of drugs who has not accomplished diddly in his life besides writing 2 books about himself as the leader of the free world. If John McCain had attended a church that had a white preacher as violently racist as your guy the screeching would be heard around the world. If John McCain associated with terrorists who tried to kill cops and servicemen your party would still be screaming like little girls about it. BUT you expect us to accept that nObama isn’t who he associates with? Nope, you are known by the company you keep and nObama, is a dope smoking, cocaine using, felony committing criminal who associates with like minded criminals and racists. Sarah Palin is not one of them and that pisses you liberals off. She and her husband have held jobs, they have had to support staff, they have been accountable. They aren’t criminal, they don’t associate with the KKK. Steve, you are a zit on the rear end of man kind. I’m sure someone else is taking care of your girlfriend. Do people still call Dope pot? That’s so yesterday. Cops are tools? Agents of oppression? Steve, let me ask you how many lives have you saved? How many crimes against your fellow citizens have you stopped? How many times have you stood between the weak and the predator? I am betting none, never and that you couldn’t do it. I can tell you are a supporter of anarchists and the other filth who don’t appreciate cops. Have fun with that Steve, when someone rapes your girlfriend call one of your anarchist buddies to help her out.

Palin may be viewed as charming to some, but she came across as simply ignorant in my mind as I watched the debate unfold. I’ll give her this much, she managed to keep a relatively calm exterior and a plastic smile plastered on her face as Biden provided detailed and solid answers compared to her canned/scripted phrases. She reminded me of a Barbie doll; pretty to look at, but not a person to be taken seriously in either a national or an international arena. That’s what frightens me most about her being a potential VP. She may feel comfortable talking about “down-home” topics that concern apparently only soccer moms and “Six-Pack Joe”, but when it comes down to how Washington works and being fluent in international affairs, she has nothing. I found her folksy style insulting. She may be too ignorant to know who the commanding general is in Afghanistan, but that doesn’t mean the American people are. She wants to present herself as someone who comprehends the hardships of the middle-class, but the truth of the matter is that her ability to relate to my family’s “kitchen table discussions” is just as distant (if not more so) than Biden’s or Obama’s. In the end, Biden came across as a leader who could handle the duties of being VP (if nothing else, he at least knows what the US Constitution says about the executive powers of the VP). Palin needs to grow-up in the political arena for a few more years before she’s even remotely mature enough to understand and handle the politics of this nation let alone have any say in foreign affairs.

It’s a fact, blacks commit a disproportionately larger amount of crime and they represent a much higher percentage of the prison population than other races. Hate the facts, don’t threaten the person pointing it out. I assume from your violent response that you are among that minority. Clean up your races act will you please. nObama hasn’t held a real job, community organizer? Whoopee! The first thing he did when he got in the senate was to begin running for president. He is a laughable self aggrandizing idiot who associates with criminals and racists and you democrats cannot point to a single thing that he has done that makes him suitable for the job of president. nObama is from Chicago, it’s filled with criminals and short of DC probably the worst run city in the states. I feel sorry for the people who are having trouble seeing through the charade of Sarah Palin. She can remember the canned answers and her talking points, but past that, she’s clueless. It’s become clear that John McCain made a horrible selection in choosing the Alaskan Governor as she is obviously in over her head. Palin might be credible if she valued knowledge as much as blind ambition. If McCain were to be elected, having Sarah Palin as VP would be a risk this country can’t afford.

Independent undecided here. Palin I thought did decent but I think you have to be blind to think that she actually won. Biden was on the top of his game. She actually was pulling ahead early, I felt, but then when the talk turned to foreign affairs, Biden destroyed her. I don’t see how anyone could see it differently. Plus she dodged questions, which is a no-no in these times where the American people are looking for answers. I’m not sure how people could think she won the debate when she didn’t even answer all the questions. Don’t confuse liking her better with actually winning the debate.

Or maybe you do and you just don’t care - the “youth” of our country will lead us on the path to destruction by ignoring the glaring faults of the person they’re blindly worshiping like a God, rather than objectively seeking what is best for the country that gave them the best upbringing they could dream of by supporting those who are TRULY qualified to SERVE US - instead of themselves. For those “youth” who have never made any serious decisions in their entire lives up to this point, they’re not qualified to make this decision of the utmost importance for me and my country, as is obvious by their cult like behavior and obtuse adoration regarding this con artist carnival hawker in a clown suit, Obama. If the Media were not so bias they would take him to task for constantly looking down, for failing to maintain eye contact, and for his stiff, inanimate delivery. While speaking, Gov. Palin referred to her notes much less than Sen.Biden did. She maintained eye contact much of the time, and was much more expressive and animated.

Biden by far won, he atleast tryed to answer the question, whereas mrs palin over there repeatedly went off into answering her own questions (that really pissed me off A LOT). Also, i think the least we decerve from our next candidates is that they know how to say “nuclear,” and even that is too hard for her to do. Biden’s a weak stage performer, but at least he answered the questions (usually). Palin always went off on some semi-prepared statement regardless of what Ifill asked. Shame on Ifill for letting these candidates go off-topic so easily. Palin needed a solid, substantive performance tonight to assuage fears that she’s in over her head, but in the end I thought she came up short. She was OK the first 30 minutes, but then ran out of talking points, and started randomly misfiring and repeating herself. After a lousy start, Biden was strong on foreign policy and on the economic travails of working- and middle-class Americans. He seemed genuinely choked up talking about his own family struggles, and Palin seemed really awkward responding to that. Who’d have thought it’d be Biden that seemed more authentic? I have to give the advantage to him tonight.

Gov. Palin danced around issues and never really answered with any details, just like she did in her previous interviews. She has no depth in national or international affairs. Senator Biden has extensive experience…26 years in Congress, Head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Member of the Senate Judicial Committee. Senator Biden had no problem answering all questions with detailed answers. It is apparent that anyone listening to the issues will vote for Obama/Biden as they have the interests of Americans at heart. McCain/Palin will continue the failed policies of the Bush Admin. and give tax cuts to corporations, oil companies and millionaires, not the people who really need them. The only people who will vote for McCain/Palin will be single issue voters (pro-life), people who are not really listening to the issues or people who will never vote for a black man for President. These people will not come out and say that is the reason, they will use tonight debate to say Palin is qualified.

Palin wants more power for the VP?! She wants to continue the Cheney trajectory?! That’s a non-starter. She talks about reform, but when she talks about the role of the VP she conjures up images of secrecy and a further erosion of our constitutional rights. That’s just not going to sell. Also, her staged attempts at being folksy and connecting to people were all erased by the cold, inhuman lack of response to Biden’s very emotional moment when talking about the losses in his family. She may connect with the camera, but she doesn’t connect to an actual human being. We’re in 2 wars and an economic crisis of epic proportion. We don’t need to see if she can be feisty and nasty. We need to see if she bring a sense of soothing, thoughtful, well-informed leadership. We don’t care if she can memorize talking points.

Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago? Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago; 221 killed in Iraq. Sens. Barack Obama & Dick Durbin, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., Gov. Rod Blogojevich, House leader Mike Madigan, Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike), Mayor Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley) …..our leadership in Illinois…..all Democrats. Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago. Of course, they’re all blaming each other. Can’t blame Republicans; they’re aren’t any here! State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country. Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. (Look ‘em up if you want). Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country. This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he’s gonna ‘fix’ Washington politics for us!

Steve, if it wasn’t for the minority population in the county most cops would be out of a job. That’s not racist you moron it’s the facts. Black commit a higher percentage of crime and most of the time against other blacks than do the non minority. Can’t change the numbers stupid. And as long as dope smoking is illegal nObama has admitted to committing several felonies. With his background he couldn’t get a cop job even at the smallest local PD and you morons want him to be your president. I didn’t call you a douche bag earlier, but seems that you are. That’s not bacon you’re smelling stupid, it’s that fat ugly lip beneath your zit ridden nose. And J. Henry you sound like a little sniveler. nObama’s mom was a slut who dumped him off, he’s dad was a full time sperm donor who loved them and left them. nObama associates with racists and with criminals by his own admission. If John McCain had hung out with David Duke you left wingers would have been all over him, but because nObama decides he’s black you are all apologetic for him. Typical left wing whack jobs.

A good debate. Overall it appeared Gov. Palin was stronger on substance and delivery. Sen.Biden meandered about at times in his responses and oftentimes resorted to cliches. It appeared that Gov. Palin was better able to articulate her policy positions clearly.

ANOTHER VICTORY FOR OBAMA/BIDEN ANOTHER FAILED TEST FOR PALIN I know debate expectations for Sarah Palin were low, like “2000 Leagues Below the Sea” low, but I expect a little more substance from the person who is running to be one 72 year old heart beat away from the presidency. Palin offered zero policy differences from the Bush administration. Her reasoning for this, apparently, was that the past is not important. Palin did not display the ability draw upon her own experience or apply knowledge in her responses. She merely came across as a robot who spouted trained “stock” replies. She simply recited Republican talking points and right wing catch phrases that any Fox News employee could regurgitate on command. In fact, the only win for the McCain/Palin ticket tonight was having a debate moderator who did not push for specific answers to her questions. I cannot count the number of times Palin gave a response that had absolutely nothing to do with the question. Sometimes she even gave an answer that was the opposite of what was asked. For example, when asked to list her “Achilles heel,” instead of describing just one single weakness, Palin gave a memorized list of her “strengths.” Reminds me of 2004 when Bush said he could not think of any mistake he ever made as president! On a personal level, I was turned off and, at times, insulted by her shrill tone and twisted disrespectful attacks at Joe Biden. And her transparent attempts at folksiness came across as down right corny. Is this how she would answer the 3am call? “Say it ain’t so, Iran has nuclear weapons, well doggone it, don’t those folks over there know that I’m a maverick who isn’t afraid to give ya some straight talk?” In short, Sarah Palin failed the “is she ready” test tonight. I find it impossible to imagine her in the White House. Biden, on the other hand, displayed his mastery of the facts and the real issues facing middle class America. He gave answers that connected with a guy like me, a REAL average Joe. And, I should point out, he was professional enough to actually answer the questions he was asked. After tonight, I can easily and comfortable envision Biden as President of the United States.

Biden won convincingly. He actually answered questions instead of deflecting to only discuss oil. Most Middletown and Southern Ohio residents will benefit from Obama/Biden Tax Cuts. Trust me Towne Mall, Armco, and other manufacturing employees in Middletown will be paying lower taxes. Mostly business executives at Proctor and Gamble and GE making over $250,000 a year will be paying higher taxes. I look forward to the day that all Middletonians can get affordable healthcare. I think that both candidates did well tonight. I think Palin did better than what was expected of her, especially considering her interview with Katie Couric. I just wonder though…her performance was a lil too rehearsed for me. She wasn’t as passionate as I would have expected her to be. In contrast I felt Biden showed more passion especially when replying to Palins statement about knowing how the average american feels as far as health insurance and job security. Maybe I’m old fashion but I couldn’t follow with all the winkin and eye jestures lol. At first I wasn’t sure if she was alright or not. She does alot of studdering and as if she is searching for an answer. That doesn’t show very much confidence or knowledge in the subject area she is being questioned about. I think Biden won but it was a mind blowing win. Palin needs to become an active member in the government so that she can build a knowledge base that stretched further than what she has done in Alaska.

Sarah Palin was attacked so much as totally incompetent that I was almost rooting for her. She proved that she is not a bumbling idiot like some would have you believe. No one won this in a landslide, but in a race that seems to keep coming back to the issues, Biden won the debate on content. Biden convinced independents he was capable of being president in an emergency, but I don’t think Palin put those fears to rest. I am relieved there were no major gaffes on either side and this will bring the election back to the top of the ticket.

Palin won by not losing. Biden was really in a no-win situation. The focus was all on Palin. I do think Biden was much stronger on foreign policy, but no one watched to hear issues. Everyone wanted to see if Palin would have a meltdown; she didn’t. If you go by substance, I think it was a push. Biden focused on McCain as a continuation of Bush and Palin focused on how she is just an average American. Ultimately, it just gives the talking heads something to talk about before the next presidential debate.

Hardly much doubt here was there? Joe looked tired at the beginning and “run over” by the end and she was cheerful, bright and on the offense all night. As an undecided voter I think Biden took this one. Palin made the comment that she was able to come out “without all the filters” and be herself while speaking to the people. I think that she needs to re-think that comment. She was filtered for a week by the McCain campaign as to what to say and how to respond. There were also quite a few times when she didnt directly answer the question or attack and kind of side stepped it and went on a whole nother tangent about soemthing else. Biden came with the facts that match what I have heard and read and Palin really didnt have much in her arsenal. I am undecided but gravitating towards Obama/Biden.

I felt both did an adequate job. Sarah Palin proved she is not a bimbo and came prepared to debate. I would give a slight edge to Senator Biden for the mere fact that McCain cannot distance himself from the Bush Administration and that is what will doom his chance at becoming president. FYI on a national scale, most people felt Biden had won the debate.
