Man’s yard display hangs Obama ghost from a tree and sparks controversy in Butler County

A Butler County man with a McCain sign in his yard has a ghost hanging from a rope in his tree. The ghost has an Obama sign on it turned upside down.

The man’s Fairfield neighbors are angry about the display and the man is not reluctant to speak his racist views toward Obama. He tells news reporters that he is against Obama because of his race.

The display and the man’s responses have sparked discussion across the Internet on sites ranging from the Huffington Post to the Daily Kos and other local television and news sites.

The video is a Cincinnati news report on this.

Ya know, it makes me angry at the lack of concern in your tone for a child, or as you called her, “little white girl,” who LET racist black children intimidate her-?? Are you serious lady? You may know what it’s like to deal with ignorant whites that hate for no reason, but to feel the hate and passion of that hatred from angry, black children that GANG up on an innocent “little white girl”, is quite different. My friend didn’t do anything to deserve being JUMPED on a daily basis, but yeah, you’re right, she allowed them to inimidate her! You’re just as ignorant as I thought. You’re not helping heal anything if you teach your children buy flicking them in the forehead and making sure that no white person ever TAKES their education, whatever you said. We are all people, we all want the same thing. As soon as you teach your children that white people-ah, there it is, thats where the hatred is born.

In response to that Just Me, I hear you, but I’m hearing that oppression rearing its ugly head through all your thoughts as if you’re just so used to it, that it’s become almost some sick security blanket. I’m not asking you to feel sorry for my girlfriend, nor did I ask you to think that all black children are bad-?? That’s not at all what I was suggesting. But because you felt descriminated against in your lifetime, you can’t feel compassion for another (white person, that is)? But the point was she didn’t demand healing time, nor does she continue to complain about her past today. I don’t understand why there’s a difference. A child should never be scared of “being cut” in school. Where’s the security? Didn’ they just pass the levy? Maybe Ms. Mcline should stop buying hats and do something about inner city school security. Thanks, and God Bless.

Divide and conquer…that is what black vs. white is about. It’s the white man’s fault that blacks aren’t higher up the social economic status. Or is it the black man’s fault because he hasn’t taken advantage of the oportunity to climb the ladder to success? We’re all slaves to the mindset that this country owes us something. The dirty truth is, it owes us nothing. If a person doesn’t want to make something out of themself, it’s because they made that choice…so lay in the bed you made, and quit blaming it on whitey or blacky, and start being responsible for yourself. In other words…quit being “democrat”.

i did want to add, that of course, hating a person for their skin color is wrong. it is just as wrong for a black person to hate a white person for their skin color, and vica versa. but a certain amount of this human behaviour is always going to happen. if everyone in america was the exact same shade of skin color, then people would start to discriminate by eye color, nose size, hair color, etc. studying world history will confirm this. in my comment below, i am trying to say that its no surprise some black people don’t like white people. that’s like telling me the sky is blue. some puerto ricans don’t like mexicans, some mexicans don’t like native americans, etc. dislike due to race or ethnicity will not go away, although it can be diminished. in the meantime, you just have to cope with it. if you want to get somewhere in life, you can’t allow someone or a group of people to intimidate you. i am writing this because i know i probably sound very cold in regards to Deb’s friend. when i was a little girl, in first grade, in a 90% white school, my mother explained to me that i cannot allow anyone to stop me from gaining knowledge. she tapped my forehead and said “nobody can take away what you learn”. no coddling, no sympathy, only the importance of learning. and that was that.

this is in response to deb 11:34. you said: “JustMe, you stated you feel that Black Americans need a few more decades to heal, so why not allow them to continue labeling, but when the time is right, that will all end? Ok, so let me ask this, how about my best friend, blue-eyed, blonde, who because of her alcoholic mother, had to grow up on the west side of Dayton, in a run-down house, and had to quit school at 13, because she was tired of fighting everyday with racist black children who in that situation made her already miserable life even more miserable. Where’s her healing time” in regards to labels, i am saying that the labels are not going to fall away overnight. it is not possible to do that. how would you approach it? have a meeting of “who?” so they can have a national referendum? this is a practical matter that will reduce and disappear on its own. for instance, i almost had a heart attack, around 10 years ago when maybelline introduced cosmetics for women of color!!! i spent 40 years of my life not being able to use revlon, maybelline, and other big name high quality makeup. the fact that the cosmetic industry stepped up (to make more money), that action killed the companies that produced low-quality cosmetics for black people. see? that industry, with a label of “black cosmetics” died. that is how it works. the labels will die on their own as “black” things are incorporated into the main stream. in regards to: “more years for the black community to heal”. there is too much to this that i can’t fit into this commentary. the black community started healing 40 yrs ago. the next 40 yrs will help right some of our social problems that result in large numbers of high school dropouts, low grades, and high correctional system percentages. that’s what i am talking about. i am not talking about healing on an individual level, i am talking about the racial group as a whole. the problems your white friend’s experience isn’t any different than black kids (or any kid for that matter) in the same neighborhood experience. girls ofall races are scared to death of getting cut up in school. in fact, i have had several parents on the west side tell me that the test scores for their school districts are so low because the kids are scared of getting physically hurt on a daily basis. a large amount of impoverished children have screwed up parents. in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, there were children of any race in the same situation. the ones that have a pretty good life right now didn’t give up. i do wonder though, that blacks are only 13% of the population while whites are over 50% of the population, why people think blacks should be horrified when one white person experiences a little bit of what most blacks have had to deal with on a daily basis? um, a lot of white people don’t like black people. black people are out numbered 4 to 1. all i can do is tell your friend not to give up. that’s what i tell young black people. also, i wonder why no one called social services to help the young girl if her mom is a detriment? why haven’t -you- called them? i know you want me to say that those black kids that the white girl let intimidate her are really bad, bad kids. but when white people have tried to intimidate me, in 90% white schools & 95% white workplace, i pretty much chalked it up to “that person sucks” and “some white people are cool”. i never was “all white people are bad and racist”. so what do you want me to say in reference to the little white girl? all black people are bad and racist? nope. she just has to struggle through.

I also would like to add a couple more thoughts on this matter of segregation. I believe that keeping separation alive by labeling, it gives people a reason TODAY to hate. It gives them a reason to compare tragedies, like Josh and JustMe felt the need to do. Both tell us horrible stories, and there’s absolutley nothing that I can do about it today. It breaks my heart knowing that a whole lot of people were hurt, murdered, treated more than unfairly, and felt hated for no reason at all, other than the color of their skin. It makes me sick, so why do we want to continue that? JustMe, you stated you feel that Black Americans need a few more decades to heal, so why not allow them to continue labeling, but when the time is right, that will all end? Ok, so let me ask this, how about my best friend, blue-eyed, blonde, who because of her alcoholic mother, had to grow up on the west side of Dayton, in a run-down house, and had to quit school at 13, because she was tired of fighting everyday with racist black children who in that situation made her already miserable life even more miserable. Where’s her healing time? She didn’t ask for that, nor did she hate anyone or raise her child now to hate anyone. She went on with her life, educated herself with books, and raised her child in love. She doesn’t remind anyone that she was segregated in school affecting the rest of her future, and demand labels. No, she also doesn’t demand “healing-time.” I think we should all be aware that no one knows the struggles of another family or person, and can’t speak for them, but instead makes the best of their own life, and tries to teach their own children a better way, which does not include labels. Thanks

In response to JustMe, I definitely hear what you’re saying, and it’s educating to hear your point of view on this matter, and in not a hateful or vengeful way. I think of what Shelby said in questioning why there are “black-only” sections, tv channels, etc., and I’m positive that she did’t mean that in any disrespectful way, but honestly questioning why, in this day and age, that kind of thing is still happening while keeping separation and segregation alive. I’ve questioned it since I was a kid, but here’s the thing..I was born in the mid-70’s. The times I’ve been raised in are a lot different than they used to be. I haven’t seen the kind of racism that was allowed to go on back then, not to be ignorant and say it doesn’t still exist, but it’s definitely not acceptable now or tolerated by educated, christian people. I agree that it does keep a separation alive, and I believe that now in these times, we should stop putting labels on people, tv channels, sections at the store, etc., and see that everyone is now given opportunities to succeed with hard work. I don’t completely agree that everyone is given the same opportunities financially, but that’s another subject. We are only separated in financial statuses now, not race or color, in my opinion. I have never had money, nor has my family, and so it’s frustrating to be forced to live out a history that I didn’t have anything to do with. Sure, we should be educated, but for how long do people think caucasion americans should feel guilty or make up for some horrible history that ignorant people that I don’t even know did? I don’t mean to downplay any struggles that black americans went through, I’ve seen the movies, I’ve read books, but I wasn’t there, nor do I agree with what happened. I believe we are all children of God, and that’s that.

The problem has just reinforced why laws such as affirmative action is necessary. No, I am not saying hire someone because of their skin color, but hire them because despite, their skin color, they have very valuable skills. I am Black or African American, whichever people prefer, I choose not to argue over the terms. But as someone mentioned earlier, all races have problems within them. I have had people from all races help me, especially in school and my career. One race is not more superior than another. So for people to have that mentality that “they are taking over” displays ignorance and lack of knowledge. That is why the “Black race” holds grudges but that is by far no excuse; for you are only stooping to their level of stupidity. I just wish that would could all get along but I still don’t see that happening even in my lifetime.

I can’t understand why we cannot see each other as people. Why allow media to place poison on ones mind making the stereotypical think white people are sneaky racist hillbillies who hate everyone but there own kind. Then, on the other side, media depicts black people to be bitter angry people who are out to rob and kill. At what point will we see each other for the person we are and not the color of our skin. I have been around both races. Both have good and bad people. Ask yourself this question: Why do we allow hate and life’s situations to consume us? Its simple, you have no peace. I know a higher power that can supply you with this and you will learn to love like you have never loved before. We must unite as a country and allow God to be author of this life! God is a healer and a deliverer. Ask God to heal you of your illness of racism. As a mother of 2, I am embarrassed that grown adults are acting like this. We should be an example. we should be excited about this election. We are apart of history. This is a good thing. And for the ones that want to call black people angry; I would have to say you sound a bit angry yourself. If it takes hanging an Ombama Ghost from a tree to announce the reason for your vote, you have that “racism” illness I was speaking of and you are angry. God can deliver you. Just ask him. As a white women I strongly feel this election is a positive thing. One day when you pass on and you stand before judgment and God says to you; Why would you judge someone because of the color of there skin? I said judgment was mine, not yours! We are ALL Gods Children. Let go and let God!

shelby 6:44pm, you ask some good questions. the label “african american” wasn’t voted on by black people in america. in fact i didn’t know about it until someone addressed me as african american. it really caught me off guard. i don’t know whose bright idea it was. my point is to not blame black people for that, most of us didn’t even know it was being considered! just as it became pc for non-whites to use it, it became pc for blacks to accept its usage. negro, colored, black, african-american, now leaning towards black again. i have no clue how that works. and i agree we are all americans. if people need to mention their ethinic nationality then it should be “american italian” “american irish” etc. i don’t understand your point about the white african american (came from south africa). are you upset because his resume got rejected because it said african american and the guy is white so his resume would not have gotten rejected if black people didn’t use the same label? or is it because using that label got his resume rejected like other african americans resumes would be rejected. i am not commenting, one way or the other, as to whether or not resume rejection occurs because a person is black. now, why does the black community have BET or Ebony magazine, or even a black novel and movie section at walmart? one of the large reasons was because jim crow laws were not striken from the judicial system until 1965. and many states didn’t repeal them until several years later. jim crow were the type of laws that said black people had to sit in the back of the bus or theater, etc. i remember the “white only” signs on public water fountains and bathrooms. there were a lot of laws used locally and state wide that governed what black people were allowed to do. the laws were applied only to black people. black magazines and books came about because the publishing houses and distribution sources rejected anything to do with black magazines and books 99% of the time. black people had to create their own publishing house and distribution. without that, there would not have been one national magazine that even mentioned black people in a positive light all the time. or cover events and people that had to do with black people. that was the same thing with BET. i’m sure you can see that black people wanted a television channel that had tv shows about black people. no one else would do it. if the time comes for “white entertainment television” then that means whites will be in the minority or at least perceive themselves to be. as far as doing away with anything and everything that is labeled “black” is premature. black americans have just recently been able to cross over from the black genre to the mainstream. in a few years all new black comedians, muscians, authors, etc will simply be introduced to all of the american media and the special “black” media will have no need to exist. that will be a wonderful day. don’t worry all of that will occur in time quiet naturally. i think affirmitive action should be based on economically disadvantaged children and young adults of any ethnicity, religion or color. hopefully that happens soon.

Why does the term “african american” keep gettin brought up. If you are born in the states you are AMERICAN!!! If someones great great grand father is born in ireland is he an irish american? no! If someones great great grandfather is born in Germany, is he then a german american? No!!! Those are their roots and descendants, but they are american!!! Why must blacks always label themselves as that, I know of a damn guy white guy that put down african american cause he was born in south africa and his resume got rejected! Why??? He is african american and he is white!!! Why is the black community allowed to have BET, or Ebony magazine, or even a black novel and movie section at wal mart? That is racist and wrong, all it does is further serperate us than bring us together!!! That is segregation and that is started and brought upon by the black community. How would Al Sharpton react if there was a WET, White Entertainment Television? I am sure he would nto be pleased and yet again the whites would be racist! This idea of seperation needs to be stopped immediatley

I think the ghost hanging in the tree with Obumas name on it was a little much, but can noone else see how the tables have turned? Whites have no rights anymore and have to be scared to speak their minds. They are not allowed to or they are out of line. I have black friends and think the world of them but when I hear an african American acting as if I am the one that made a slave of them 100 years ago then I get a little angry. Quit blaming the people today for what happened long ago. I know African americans that have the best jobs because of the color of their skin and it is just handed to them. If everyone is suppose to be the same then lets get rid of the black collage funds and the minoritys having to be hired even if they are not qaulified for the jobs stop! Just be equal and live! I am not voting for Obama because his friends are pretty bad people and his preacher is a pathetic person. You can’t tell me that obama sat in that church for 20 years and didn’t hear the things preacher wright was saying. He is a sick man and obama must have agreed with what he was saying or he wouldn’t have stayed there. He is a very scarey person and I will hate it when he gets elected. And he will get elected! They have cheated and some how obama seems to have all the money in the world and sure don’t mind spending it on foolishness. All I can say is GOD help us!

buckeye bob, you say i am another angry black still living in slavery? that attitude amazes me. i recount part of my life, my observations of 50 years and you interpret that as being angry. it is nothing of the sort. anger damages the spirit. i have no anger in me. but like i said earlier, i am not going to get a lobotomy so i forget my past. it is what it is. i have embraced who i am and my family. i think that you cannot understand how it is that i am -not- angry. i also imagine that if you were black, with the same attitude and spirit, you would probably be frothing at the mouth at every non-black that crossed your path!!!! you also say if “you cannot bring any thing else to the table but racism and slavery, don’t come to the table”. but you also say: “If Black racism is not alive and well in Dayton, don’t tell my caucasian wife who taught in the inner city of Dayton for 25 years and was treated like a second class citizen”. my first response was based on the subject of your wife being treated like a “second class citizen” while teaching in the inner dayton school system. my response contrasted your wife’s experience with my experience and my mom’s experience. is it my fault that my mom was born in 1925 in the deep south? i was born in 1956 and bound by jim crow until my late teenage years. so mentioning my experience and my mom’s experience is racist and you mentioning your wife’s experience isn’t? you are angry for some reason i do not understand. clearly, your wife’s experience of racism has no weight in regards to the governmental oppression that i and my parents endured. yet this makes you angry. why?

Justme responds as another angry Black still living in slavery. When Black students came to school and begged my wife to take them home with her, it’s more than about audacity. When fourth and fifth grade Black students came to school and referred to white people as honky and whitey you can bet they didn’t hear that at church. If you can’t bring any thing else to the table but racism and slavery, don’t come to the table!

josh, i also want you to understand, when you compare the irish experience to the black experience you are talking apples and oranges. for instance, when i visit the graveyard that my mothers’ people (slaves) have been buried for generations, it is on the same white family’s land that owned my mother’s people (about 250yrs worth buried, not sure of all the bloodlines, can only trace hers back 175yrs). what irish person can say that here in america? just that one small thing should be significant enough for you to understand that the irish experience here in america has very little in common with the black experience. the remnants of the shack my mother was born in still exists although overgrown by woods, at least in 1988 when we went into the backwoods in my mom’s home state. again on the white families land that owned my mother’s grandmother. my mother was born at a time in arkansas where not only being black created a problem in gaining education, but being a poor woman made it almost impossible. you kind of need someone educated to teach another person. so my mom was uneducated, but she and my dad worked sometime 50+ hours a week to provide a stable life for my siblings and myself. my dad kept his first job for 45 years in a factory and only missed one day i realize many whites think blacks are inherently lazy but you really do insult me, my family, and my friends because we know who we are and what our values are. also remember -jim crow-. how many black people were able to create any kind wealth between 1862(signing of emancipation proclaimation - which few blacks realized happen because they could not read -literacy was punished with death- and it was not in the interest of slave owners to tell them) and 1965 (when jim crow was striken as a law)? black people are just now generating enough wealth, financial security for a lot of blacks, so now we can fund methods of helping more blacks understand the importance of knowledge is power and to combat ignorance. google “black african american mentoring”. you will find thousands of programs funded by blacks that take young black children by the hand and set them on the road to higher education and entry into professions, not just jobs. i am proud of who i am, and who my parents are, and who my children will become.

How is it that Mexican’s can come here and find work without even having identification but liberals can’t find work? Too many people in this country are living off the system. That’s why they want Obama in office, to make it even easier to do so. If I loose my job, I’ll find another even if I have to work for minimum wage. Ever heard of working your way up?

WE ALL KNEW THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS WAS BOUND TO COME OUT.sarah needs to be at home taking care of her family and mccain needs to be at home being taken care of.mccain has no interest in the average american, only the rich ones. and sarah,go home and be a mother and wife. if she can’t take care of home she certainly can’t take care of america..obama speaks to the avearage american, for once someone is looking out for us..the rich can’t get richer if the rest of us don’t have a job and money to spend.they don’t trickle anything down to us and when we ask for help they tell us to get a job..where is the job? why did they send all the jobs overseas? so they could make more money to keep in their pockets!america needs a change and obama is the one to take us there. put the prejudice aside, just think if obama was a white man,you would pick him over mccain in a heartbeat.just think of sarah as a black woman, you wouldn’t pick her to save your soul..think smart, don’t be fooled again.and for all you who don’t want obama because he’s black, that’s a shame.what if every black person didn’t want mccain because he’s white? everyone who can vote should vote.let your vote count, don’t be a follower,be a leader. don’t be discouraged, stay positive.we must protect ourselves from fools like that man with the hanging obama.he is just ignorant.everything you think does not have to be said or expressed out loud. as it used to be said,if you can’t something nice, then don’t say anything..peace to the people…

Upon reading the posts, it simply re-inforces to me the total ignorance of the average American. If there was a literacy test mandated to register to vote, 95% of these idiots would not be able too, but just like “Joe the plumber”, no doubt most of these morons aren’ registered or won’t be voting anyway since it takes a bit of intelligence or find one’s polling place. Take your racism, your ignorance and hatred and go back to wherever it is your ancestors came from. I am a NATIVE AMERICAN. I am proud and independant.

josh, although i have the highest regards for the irish experience in america, you need to understand something. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JimCrowlaws read about jim crow. i am sure you will be able to understand that jim crow kind of slowed the “blacks have the same chances in life as whites”. that became somewhat true after jim crow was legally lifted. irish people were not suppressed via federal law like black people. my point is, that the playing field started leveling off around 1970. that’s less than 40 years for black people as a whole to get their stuff together. you also have no idea the level of devastion that blacks went through and why the effects have lingered in the people that caught the brunt of hate. in america, the only people screwed over more than blacks were the american indians. when people are traumatized it causes issues. imagine when i huge majority of people get traumatized at the same time. black people have issues. why not give us a few more decades to try to heal. and your stereotypes are not correct. you see what you want to see.

Hey JustMe, I come from an Irish background. We have been enslaved longer than the African population (see Tobacco Island). Your ancestors were beat and lynched? My ancestors were murdered, by the thousands. When we came to the U.S. we couldn’t find jobs, drink from same water fountains, eat at certain restaurants…We were forced to live in shanties in Central Park. We wanted to assimilate and were denied. We were forced to change our last names and work on an American accent just to get a chance. Yet we’ve flourished. Why haven’t African Americans? Because the African American culture thrives on laziness. You don’t hear the Irish wanting reparations. You don’t hear our music talking about getting ahead by dealing drugs and being a thug. African Americans have it easier to get ahead. The road is paved with government assistance, scholarships, government allowed advantages simply based on the race. Yet it’s not used or blown.

buckeye bob,if the republican ticket had george w. wrapped in black skin for president and connie rice as vp, do you think blacks would vote for them over a white pres/vp democratic ticket?

By justme

this is in response to buckeye bob’s comments. 95% blacks always vote for the democratic party, it isn’t because obama is black. the white teacher in a school with a majority of black students was treated as a second class citizen? imagine what its like to be in the minority all the time over 5 decades. i pursued education and thrived in a field that i love. but i had and have to be around a 95% white environment. second class citizen? your wife has no idea what that feels like. jim crow wasn’t officially a bad thing until the late 1960’s. my parents were born in 1924 & 1925. they raised me. i can’t believe you have the audacity to even consider that your wife is somehow dumped upon. these young black children are exposed to maybe 1% of the racism and oppression that my parents went through. but the children are aware through non-verbals of black people my age. and that is something that can’t be helped. what should i do, get a lobotomy because my memories offend white people who add their comments to ddn? second class citizen? you and your wife are clueless.

This is to Diane,Bailbonds,Mad as h…,and Utterly disgusted, First of all, you don’t know me. In 2006 I voted for Ken Blackwell to be the Governor of Ohio so it is not about race for me. And you may be surprised by this but there are really white and black people in our world. You act like I affended you by saying the word black. Oh, but I forgot, liberals are whiners and whimps. You brought this on yourselves and as for me being ignorant? I laugh at that as you have shown your own. I get my news from fox news where do you get yours? cnn, cbs, abc? I also did not say what that man did by hanging the ghost in his tree was right. I think it is morally wrong but at the same time, I have had to see ignorant fools bash my favorite President Bush with worse things than a ghost in a tree!If you don’t like President Bush that’s your problem. He has stood firm in what he does and says, he doesn’t waiver to the polls to be popular. He also brought integrity back to the white house from the 8 years with the Bill Clinton womanizer. I am not here to convince you to change your mind about what you think! I am a Republican and I don’t bend because of the wind. I stand for what I believe in and that’s Pro life, Pro marriage between one woman and one man, and for the people not the government to depend on. I am against big government. I take care of my own.I am not rich I am middle class but I am here to say that poor people have been voting democrats for years and they aren’t rich yet! Funny how they think we should all have to pay because of that. It’s like saying little Jimmy who got an A in math has to go down to a C because it wouldn’t be fair to little Larry! I hate the liberal politics, plain and simple. I have many black friends and they are wonderful, good people and they are even telling me that they know so many that are just now voting becuase Obama is a black man. It’s just a fact! I am not saying all blacks are doing this but a lot are. Now, I just urge you to look in the mirror before you go vote and see if the person you vote for reflects your beliefs and morrals.I am for McCain 100%.

I DEFINITELY AGREE WITH LIZARD WHEN HE SAYS ALL OF THE RACIST PEOPLE SHOULD BEHUNG TO A TREE LIKE GHOSTS AND BEAT LIKE A PINATA! WHAT GOOD ARE YOU ON THIS EARTH IF YOU ARE SO NEGATIVE! BEFORE WE ARE ANY TYPE OF RACE WHETHER ITS, AFRICAN AMERICAN, CAUCASION, ASIAN, HISPANIC, ETC WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS FIRST. SO FOR YOU TO BE LIVING IN THE 21ST CENTURY AND STILL BE STUCK ON COLOR GROUPS AND RACE AND ALL THAT STUPID S**T THEY NEED TO BRING THE ELECTRIC CHAIR BACK FOR YOUR A*S AND FRY ALL OF THE RACIST REMARKS OUT OF YOU! YOU ARE IGNORANT, YOU NEED HELP, AND YOUR JUDGEMENT DATE WILL SOON COME! SO DON’T WONDER WHY YOUR RACIST A*S MAY BE FRYING IN HELL FOR ETERNITY JUST BECAUSE YOU DECIDED YOU DIDN’T LIKE THE COLOR OF SOMEONE ELSE’S SKIN WHO MAY HAPPEN TO BE IN YOUR BLOOD LINE SOMEWHERE DOWN THE LINE DID YOUR DUMB A*S EVER THINK OF THAT? RACISM IS SO PLAYED OUT, AND FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE SO BOLD AS TO SPEAK YOUR MIND ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE’S RACE, BE CAREFUL BECAUSE YOU WILL REAP WHAT YOU SOW! SOMEWHERE IN THE NEAR FUTURE YOU MAY NEED A NEW KIDNEY OR HEART TRANSPLANT AND IS RACE SO MUCH OF AN ISSUE THAT YOU WOULD NOT ALLOW SOMEONE TO OPERATE ON YOU BECAUSE OF THEIR RACE, OR YOU WONT ACCEPT A NEW HEART BUT THE PERSON WHO IT IS COMING FROM IS A DIFFERENT RACE? THINK ABOUT THAT, AND THEN SLAP YOURSELF A FEW TIMES BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A WORLD OF ONE RACE! WE COME IN ALL SHAPES, SIZES, COLORS, AGES, PERSONALITIES, ETC.

Thre was a man from Austria in the 1930’s who hypnotized the entire nation of Germany. The man in this article is just like him, and so are you, but you’d never admit it. Obama duplicates his personna, manners, politcal speech, talks and talks and talks and says nothing…but just enough to fire up the ignorant masses…as his Austrian mentor did. He aligns himself with bigot ministers (Rev. Wright), a murderer( Richard Ayers), and his indicted Syrian friend/crook in Chicago (Rezco). The list is long, your control of the media covers it up. I wondered when all of you would crawl out of the slime to take your appointed places. When he takes us all down, I’m sure we’ll hear from you, and when questioned how it happened, deny that you had anything to do with it…the standard answer from a facist supporter. Obama supporters and this Butler county idiot…the same.

It would seem that all the indignation and anger toward a property might also be directed at congress. These losers are the difference makers, not one man in Butler Township. Both Republicans and Democrats can share the blame for the mess we are in. All Bush haters might wish to unlock their brains and understand it’s not about one person or one party. If Black racism is not alive and well in Dayton, don’t tell my caucasian wife who taught in the inner city of Dayton for 25 years and was treated like a second class citizen by the ruling majority! That 95% of Blacks will vote for Obama is purely circumstance? Sort of like summer followed by spring!

People need to stop making excuses for this person because “he can’t help how he was raised.” He is an adult and responsible for himself. My husband and I were both raised by racist parents, but we made the effort to be different and try raise our children to follow Christ, which means we are ALL children of God, not matter what race, religion, or political party. No human can perfectly live up to Christ’s standards, but this person crosses the line. Hate poisons this person’s heart and brain.

You can fix ignorance but you can’t fix stupid. He knows what he’s doing. He doesn’t care about rights. He chooses to hate for no other reason than the color of someone’s skin. You can’t tell him that it’s wrong because that how he was raised. If there’s no city or neighborhood ordinace against this then he is within his rights no matter how wrong he is. St. Paul thought he was right about anyone who followed Jesus as well. He saw the light and I suspect that’s what it would take. Pray for the stupid fool and get on with life.

We live in a country that has suffered economically. Ranging from gas prices, food and houseing. It is a shame that we can not come together as one and agree that this is a problem that needs fixed. If you you take the time to look at history, a white man has been responsible for this country sicne the begining of time. So, a white man has to take acountability for the shape that this country is in. There is hope for the futute. We must put our trust in the Lord, not in a man. It has been proven that no matter the color of your skin, we are all human and are all capable of making bad decisions. Bad decisions hurt all of us. Whomever God had already decided to run our country, it is so important to put race behind us, come together as one and PRAY!!! At the end of the day Mccain and Obama are simply men. May God Bless whomever wins and direct there path. As far as the man whom had the ghost hanging from the tree, we all know this is an illness passed down from generations, we need to pray and forgive him too. God Bless!!

This article is a sad one. How can anyone be angry at this individual, when you should feel sorry for him. This much hatred can not be healthy and it was probably learned through generations of people just like him. The real sad part about this article is that half the racist in this city/world really can’t explain why they are that way, other then to repeat something negative that either someone in their family or a friend has told them about different nationalities. And because they think they are the superior ones on this earth. Instead of getting angry, just pray for this poor soul. He can’t help the way he was raised. Anyone who is willing to place this country at risk with a 70-old man and a woman who can’t think on her own and is incapable of completing a full sentence, without repeating the same statement over and over again, needs pity not angry. Have mercy on him and others that think like him souls.

For those of you defending this man’s actions and saying it isn’t racism - did you read the article? “The man’s Fairfield neighbors are angry about the display and the man is not reluctant to speak his racist views toward Obama. He tells news reporters that he is against Obama because of his race.” So yeah, it IS racism.

There’s absolutely no rational defense of this. I am an Obama supporter with friends, yet I have plenty of friends who support McCain, and they were just as disturbed by this as I was. I understand conservative voters’ fear of our country taking a new direction - sometimes change is scary. But what we’ve been doing isn’t working for anyone but corporations. Why not try something new and vote in someone who’s willing to fight for the little guy for a change? As for the ridiculous charges about Obama being a Muslim or not releasing his birth certificate - even Rush Limbaugh has said that’s not true, so give it up and let’s focus on the truth for a change.

If you believe that any one politcal party is the blame for all that has transpired, and if you feel none of that would have came about if someone else was in the seat…then so be it. You have the freedom to complain—now,,but there is someone running for office who wants to curtail your freedom to disagree.I am not for censureship, but if anyone is,,then vote for it…Im not running so if you don’t change your mind..Great!!! if you do Great too!!! Still the worrying about other peoples views… Im not; so go vote your heart out.

I am always shocked when I visit the DDN’s article postings and find vitrolic comments like these. How do we expect to stay competitive on the world stage when all we do is yell across the isle at one another? Are we so unhappy with our lives that we have to be hateful to one another? I am a working class Daytonian who is far more concerned about the economy, healthcare, and education than all this hatred and finger pointing. China, India, and others are overtaking us on the world stage while we bicker and yell. Re Glad to be Gone — I’ve spent lots of time out west and find that racism exists there as well — however, your “other” are Hispanics, not African Americans, since there are only a small percentage of blacks in those states. Remember Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming 10 years ago? Racism and other ‘isms’ exists in every state in America in some fashion, and will ultimately be our downfall if we don’t come to terms with the shifts taking place in our population. Whether one likes it or not, the facts are clear: we are moving to a black/brown majority in the next 30 years, so we will need to get along. I would advise folks to be a littler kinder to one another before this country implodes with hatred. Peace be with you.

Just Because He’s Black A white man asked his black friend, ‘Are you voting for Barack Obama just because he’s black?’ The black man responded by saying, ‘Why not? In this country men are pulled over everyday just because they’re black; passed over for promotions just because they’re black; considered to be criminals just because they’re black; and there are going to be thousands of you who won’t be voting for him just because he’s black! However, you do not seem to have a problem with that! This country was built with the sweat and whip off the black slaves’ back, and now a descendent of those same slaves has a chance to lead the same country. where we weren’t even considered to be people, where we weren’t allowed to be educated, drink from the same water fountains, eat in the same restaurants, or even vote. So yes! I’m going to vote for him! But it’s not just because he’s black, but because he is hope, he is change, and he now allows me to understand when my grandson says that he wants to be president when he grows up, it is not a fairy tale but a short term goal. He now sees, understands and knows that he can achieve, withstand and do ANYTHING just because he’s black!

It’s one thing to hang a ghost, or vampire, etc. in ones yard, but quite another to hang the likeness of a real person. That being said, I am sick of the media covering only crazy white people who happen to be racist, but never mention the blacks who are voting for Obama, only because he is black, & for no other reason. This is just as bad as a white person voting for or against someone based only on race. Racism, in ALL its forms, is evil, as is sexism, homophobia, etc. No one has a lock on bigotry; one can be any color, any gender, etc. It’s time to rid the world of bigotry, & all it represents.

With all that we have to worry about and deal with on a daily basis. I do not care what people put in their yards, on their houses, cars,or clothing. It gets your attention and makes you want to do something like groan & moan or maybe vote. Whether you vote or not = This will not stop you from groaning & moaning. Just decide if you want more government control over what you can or cannot do. I like my freedoms protected,so I vote Replublican. If there are social programs on the table,,no matter who is president - the system will make them a reality… Just Pick your figure head and stop worrying about someone elses views..

For the poster that thinks that all “liberal” views are just cries of free speech let me ask you this question. What experience does any canidate other than the incumbent have in running the higest office in America? Not voting for Barack because of his views is one thing, but not doing so because of his race is a dark path that no American should want to revisit. ACORN and stealing elections????? Wasnt just in 2000 when the GOP felt like it was okay to steal an election? Mickey Mouse registering to vote has nothing to do with Obama. You should know the laws that govern agency like ACORN before you post your Republican banter on this website. All agency are required to report when they suspect voter fraud. But that would be something like facts, and we all know that Republicans run from those at every chance they get….

I think we all need to keep something in perspective here. It seems that when liberals wish to say what they want to say, they will cry “free speech, free speech”. But anyone who disagrees with them are automatically labeled as being racist, bigoted, close-minded, or as the one person referred to when commenting about Clinton Co. “wingnuts”. One person comments about Obama being dishonest and another refers to Obama as being a socialist and that makes them crazy?? Sounds like a real liberal point of view to me. I have no intention of voting for Obama because I disagree with his views, I feel that he has no experience, and I distrust his ties with ACORN. I mean really, when Mickey Mouse registers to vote and someone registers over 70 times, and ACORN is right in the middle of it….it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. But I’m sure that many “enlightened” people will view my non-vote for Obama as being racist. Nahh, it’s because I distrust the Democratic Party and their belief that government should “take care of us”. While I agree that hanging a ghost in a tree, even around Halloween, and putting an Obama sign on it is not in the best of taste..it is still freedom of speech. Just like calling George W. Bush an idiot and referring to him as Hitler and all the other vile crap I hear coming from the leftist mouths. But it’s ok…as long as you are calling the “right people” ugly names such as rednecks and hillbillies. I am proud of my country…just not some of the people who live in it.

This is truly an indication that the statement “Ignorance is bliss” is true and this type of display of ignorance can be equally divisive. If certain people remain unyielding in their radical views, be they left wing or right wing supporters, they will bring nothing but destruction to our country. We are ALL Americans, and should continue to fight for our country to be stronger and better. Instead, some of us choose the cowardly road too often traveled by the ignorant. An Obama ghost hanging from a rope in a tree?! Last time I checked it was 2008 and we should have better things to do, say, and represent as a people, not individual races or political parties. Oh my, are you ppl serious? For those of you Ohioan traiters and non-Ohioans who think Ohio is so racist and if you move elsewhere you’ll get away from all this hatred, come on folks, it’s all around you. I don’t care what color my neighbor is, if you are a theif, I will be leary of you. If you don’t watch your children I will consider you to be a bad parent. If you rob the government of benefits when you’re able to work, I will not think highly of you or want to stand behind you at the grocery store because I can barely pay for my non-brand name food on my barely-there salary, which I work my a$$ off for. If you hang up pics of anyone for that matter in a hateful way on a tree, I will not want to live next door to you cuz of lynch-mob mentalities like the one on here earlier who places your address and phone number on the internet so they can yell, “Fight! Fight!” Ignorance breeds ignorance, it has no race/color qualifications. If you try to scare me, I will be scared, I don’t care what color you are. I react to my surroundings. We are all God’s children and we are supposed to love our neighbors, and it’s hard to do that, but God sent his son to die for all of us, not just the pretty, rich, white, black, whatever-all of us. Why don’t we show just a teeny bit of love and mutual respect to each other? Is it really so hard to do?

I think this election is showing everyone’s true colors and it’s sad. This country was taken by whites and now because they feel like they are much more important, they feel that this country should still be that way? Look around! No wonder this country is a failure. All we do is complain over the dumbest crap and for what? I’m an Obama supporter, not because he’s black (and white), but because he is looking at those who need help most. Remember, everyone is facing economic hardtimes. You need to be looking at your future instead of what some racist whites have said in the past. Racism is a waste of time because in other countries, they want ALL Americans to perish, white, black, or whatever. So stop wasting time and playing games, this is our future here, act like you care about it.

WOW! Such hate and venom towards one another! I was raised in Ohio and had my kids in Ohio (Dayton area). We’ve all moved out west (Colorado, California, Arizona) because of the Midwest mindset. It’s a very backward and racist place. Is that how you like being perceived? I’m ashamed to tell people I’m from Ohio because they think that means “hick.” Let me tell you, I’ve been here in Colorado for nearly 20 years now and I NEVER hear the N word. But as soon as I come back to Ohio to visit or get emails from Ohio friends, there it is again…hate and racist fears. Some of you are truly pathetic and extremely backwards. You squawk about bringing democracy to the Middle East but practice this narrow-minded bigotry in your own homes and against your neighbors and fellow countrymen. It’s scary to me how many of my neigbors don’t believe in God, and are filled with so much hate and anger. Mr. Hawksburg, whatever your name is, the end is near, pull out a Bible, Revelations. Ya know, the THE WORD is pretty accurate so how could that be without the influence of a higher power? Anyways, I don’t believe any politican is 100%, nor are they perfect or completely honest, so it’s difficult for us to choose a perfect president when we’re given the choices by a corrupt government. So we pick the best apple of the bunch. In my opinion, in which I’m entitled to express, because of the many men and women who have died for my right to do so in this war, and many other wars that weaker Americans don’t believe in, which right was also given to them by these same men and women, the Republican party is the closest selection to “right” and moral that I’m given. Let’s just pray that whoever gets in there makes good, smart decisions on our economy, this war we’re still fighting, our other many important issues, and Israel. Joe Blow, son, you need a hug. This is typical of the fear of some white people. Proud enough to hang such a symbol of hatred on your property but not proud enough to speak about your decision on camera. For years your hatred has been carried out and displayed as cowardly acts against people who do not look like you – well I have news for you – in forty years or so - if you live that long we will have a generation of people that will closely resemble each other and you will truly be in the minority if existent at all welcome to my AMERICA.

If race has anything to do with your vote, you’re part of the problem. You ar eno better than the racists…who knows you may be a racist too that is trying to hide it by a sympathy vote. “See I’m not racist I voted for that black boy.” Gee Whiz.

Same old scare tactics the RNC is trying to use to get their man in the Whitehouse. I remember when JFK was running for President and people in Dayton churches, were trying to scare people by saying “oh, don’t vote for him, as he is a Catholic and you know if the Pope told him to do something he would have to do it.” Get real, Ohio and come into the real world of homelessness, hunger, and war. Barack Obama has the right answers for us today.

When I first read this article I almost let myself get upset. But then I thought about it and realized that my getting mad wasn’t going to change anything, so why bother. The truth of the matter is that the only person who can save this country is God. And God is going to have to work along side whoever gets into office. To the man who is responsible for the display, what you don’t realize is that by behaving and saying the hateful things that you say you are actually hurting the McCain campaign. You are making them look just like you and that is pushing a lot of undecided voters to the Obama side because the don’t want to be affiliated with people with such strong hatred towards their fellow americans. And while there are many people who share your racists views, YOU are still the minority which is probably the REAL reason you didn’t want to show your face.

Not all whites are good people, not all blacks are good people. Just like anything else. Fear… fear of the unknown. It has always been there but now, because of this election, it is all coming forth. Race isn’t the only issue. I hear religion and gender issues. Example “I’d never vote for black or a woman”. So they won’t vote - period! It never fails to amaze me. The people that think this kind of “freedom of speech” is freedom of speech are ignorant. This is hate filled racism!!! Why hide behind freedom of speech? You are cowards. One more thing; my definition of a racist is people who must make others look bad in order to make themselves look better. It stems from jealously and hatred of oneself. And for all you racist ‘Christians’, stop using the Bible to justify your hatred. You need Jesus for real.

Sarah, first off how can you come of saying that he a is Muslin half-breed and a white racist himself. Humm, let see that first his is a christian and always has been and secondly he was raised by a white mother and white grandparents, but yet you say that he is a white racist, I think most people on here need to get their facts straight before they decided to type anything. What that guy did is purely racist, plain and simple. As far as people slandering Bush- he has let this country go down the drain. I do not blame him for Katrina-that was a natural disaster, but he and his cabinet could have done more juste like with Ike. I do not compare bush to Hilter- Hilter was just plain evil but Bush is just dumb and simple. Two different people. Obama and McCain are both good men, but I favor Obama, there is something about him that tell me he is going to help change this nation around for the better. So to hang an Obama ghost from a tree is just outright stupid and racist.

While this is in poor taste, most of our readers have it wrong. Obama is not a traditional “Afro-American”. His father was Kenan, not a decendent of slaves. Obama does not share the travisities that real Afro-Americans have heard about from their grand-parents/great-grand-parents. Americans should stop thinking everything they hear in the liber press is truth, Obama has a tainted past and the press refuses to print it. We will have the best President that the Liberal Press can create/buy. God help us if Obama wins, our country has fought for freedoms and Democracy. Obama brings Socialism and next is Commies.

Sarah… The only substance or fact your comments have is in fact that they are from your personal opinion and are generalized and fueled by ignorance. How do you know what the black population has done in regards to voting? The only time it became a concern for the media is when an African American male began to run for election. Then everyone wanted to see the comparison of how many African Americans would vote. If you read which you apparently do not, you would see there has only been a considerable difference in increase. African Americans as well as Hispanics, Asians, Whites all have the right to vote and select who they feel is the best candidate. Some people are voting for McCain simply because they dont want a black man in office, I dont agree with that but everyone is entitled to their beliefs however you ridicule and criticize the majority of AA’s to sum it up as if there has never been a care about this country and the vote is based upon race?! Whats the difference between those handful of hillbillies that have done the same for McCain..or did you forget? Get off your high horse and inform yourself….nevermind, I hear ignorance is bliss which your obviously accustomed to.

The big media completely ignores the sale of bumperstickers about gang raping Sarah Palin, and celebrities espouses anger and hatred towards Palin is considered okay by the media — no outrage over sexist remarks because it is against a conservative. Two years ago, it was Mark Foley’s text messages that the media used to relentlessly portray all Republicans as corrupt, but Foley’s Democrat replacement is in a bigger scandal, paying off $100K in hush money, but the media does not paint all Democrats as corrupt. As a nation, we need strict policies on how to deal with race in politics.

Hate Crime? For what? I hate how easily people through that phrase around. It is simple; I do not like or agree with this man’s views or the way he chooses to share them. But, I do believe it is his right. BTW, the clan outfit on McCain chasing Obama is just as bad if not worse (but still free speach in my mind).

WOW! Racism is still alive in this country! I am sick and tired of hearing about it. Get a life! (and a job would also help) When employers start cutting jobs, they need to ask who voted for Obama and cut their job first. Higher taxes do not encourage the growth of our economy. Look who the knuckleheads running Obama’s ticket are. The same clowns that brought down Fannie and Freddie. Also, people, if you want to hear racism, go to Wright’s church. (Also, get a job)

Things like this ironically push me to vote for Obama. Let the bigots know that the majority of the country hates them and that we’re moving on without them. The rest of us are living in the real world, the 21st century. I’m tired of the lunatic fringe like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and this piece of trash having such a loud voice. They’re just ignorant and scared of anything not like them and not willing to actually take the time to learn about someone different from them. Time to kick them to the curb.

Are you kidding? 2008 and someone actually does not understand the implication of such a display. Lynchings took place in this country against the african american community, not the white community. To display this is just hateful. Such racism and disrespect for human decency has no place in our society. How appalling.

Would such an outrage be had if it were reversed, that in the tree was McCain, I think not. It is simply blacks will utilize the race card to benefit them, whereas whites have no way to support their views and receive aid when they are disagreed with, Like NAACP, Jesse JAckson, Al Sharpton. We have a right tom speak our views and use and effigy, and all people must see that, so you don’;t like it then don’t look at it, but don’t condemn something you do as well, prejudice is everywhere, black, white, gay, criminals, sex offenders etc, society will be bias all the time

I’ve been indecisive on how to vote this election but every time I see such ignorance as what this gentleman is displaying, (Not to mention violence.) I move more towards Obama. Have I seen such threats, ignorant violent remarks made against McCain? No. This country is in dire straits. We are on the edge of collapse. You would think this country would have grown up by now, especially after 911. Doesn’t seem like we’ve learned anything. People should be very afraid if they have neighbors like this guy.

While I don’t agree with the “effigy,” of Obama, I have to ask why do so many people want to burn the man’s home or do harm to him? He has every Constitutional right to do what he is doing. Let’s be honest. There are so many “Black This” and “Black That” which are totally racial and discriminatory. If there was a “White This” or a “White That” would you be so fast to “punish” anyone associated with either one? Until the day black people stop the ostracism and discrimination, themselves, they should not be surprised at the response by some white people - no matter how tacky it may be. Some tolerance from all, please.

“This is the MOST DISCUSTING display I have seen in years and just shows what an “stupid” fool that man is! How can our young people learn acceptance when this idiot is allowed to do this type of thing. Just shows that this country has so much further to go, and when Senator Obama takes the oath of office…hopefully that man and others like him, will move out of the country!” Marion first it’s disGusting not disCusting. Second acceptance is being taught every where you look these days. So much so that we have to accept everyone as they are, but here’s a thought…do the Iraqi’s of Iranians accept us and say “oh he’s an American, give him a free pass”? No they don’t and this leads to the reason we are being seen as a weaker nation and everyone has to have “equal rights”. Well equal rights is NOT re-distributing the wealth to the poor and that is what Obama plans on doing. The people Obama plans to tax are the people that create jobs, if they don’t create the jobs then guess what…unemployment goes up. I have a job, work full time, and have worked hard to attain the “American Dream” instead of being married to the government and having them pay me or I should say the honest tax payer. Oh yeah, when (and God forbid) Obama is president, who will help him teach acceptance? Rev. Wright? Jesse Jackson? Leaders of the NAACP? Give me a break, these people are no better than the KKK in their teachings of hate and racism.

After reading many of the comments, I have to wonder if the Thought Police might not be just around the corner, and I also have to wonder if it is not equally as racist to vote for a man simply because he is “black” and “his time has come.” Sorry if i gave some of you something to think about since thinking seems to be a foreign discipline.

It amazes me that Obama is portraying himself as Black, yet he is half white. If he was a regular person, and white, he wouldnt even be considered for the position. The race card has been played all along, and it was laid down by Obama. It also amazes me that while everybody is saying ,hang the guy not the ghost. like a previous commentator wrote, whether you like it or not, even this idiot has the right to voice his hate, just as you are voicing your hate of him.seems the the constitution is ok as long as you agree with it?

Although we think his actions are wrong, he has a right to believe as he wishes. No matter what, there is some racism in everyone, he just speaks aloud about it instead of behind someones back. I don’t want him as president either, not because of color, but because a President of the United States should salute the Flag and it has been said he won’t. Why would anyone want someone in office, that won’t stand for OUR FLAG? Anyone but him I will vote for, but he has no place in office! So congatualtions to the man who speaks his mind, you have guts to stand for what you believe in even though others think your wrong, hopefully your not as crazy about it as others fear you are, but it’s human to fear the unknown.

Human beings originated on the continent of Africa, so we are all brothers and sisters. Outward appearance, or the notion of race, is in reality a small and rather insignificant part of our humanity. The mapping of the human genome indicated once and for all, that we are all one race, the human race. BTW, the comments by HuberTucky are not by me (someone stole my name!)

Obama’s biological father from Kenya was a Muslim. Obama’s stepfather from Indonesia was a Muslim. Under Islamic law, anyone with a Muslim father is automatically a Muslim for life. Obama was officially registered in two schools in Indonesia as a Muslim student. If Obama had left Islam for Christianity or any other religion, he would be considered to be a traitor and the penalty would be death. Every major Islamic terrorist group (Hamas, Hezballah, Fatah) has publicly endorsed Obama. They would never do so unless they believed that he never really left Islam. Obama will never begin a REAL program to end our suicidal addiction to oil because it would harm the Islamic world that he supports. jtf.org
