An Obama presidency should fit in nicely with plans Islamic terrorists have for America. Afterall, they’ve waited patiently since 9/11/01, and soon won’t have those pesky Iraq/Afghanistan wars to preoccupy them and thwart their efforts! (Obama supporters - be careful what you wish for.) God bless George W. Bush and our wonderful, brave military troops!By Kevin DeWhine

Mary, I too have followed politics for years and have not missed an election in 30 years. I have never had a problem deciding who to vote for in the past. I am not a person who votes for a party, but rather the person. I think it is a horrible shame that we are living during a time of such an historical election and the most you can find on either opponent is a bunch of sticks and stones. Can you believe this is the stuff that will probably be printed in the history books? I find it appalling. I have asked my original question on so many message boards for months now, and the only true answers I have gotten come today from you and Tim. Not one person has been able to try to sell a candidate to me without using all of the negative attacks on the opponent. I have already heard, more than I care to admit, every negative thing that can be said about Obama and McCain. One would think that since I am a very last minute undecided voter in such a close race that people, with all of their passion, would be knocking theirselves out trying to pitch to me…at least thats what I would be doing. Only Tim has been able to offer me a sound sales pitch. I truly do understand where you are coming from when you suggested I go for an independent. I do wish that the independents would get more platform time, then maybe one of them would stand half a chance of making it to the Whitehouse. Unfortunatly, because I know we do not live in a time yet where I think my voting for an independent would be a message anyone would hear, I feel I should try to figure out which of these two main candidates is the lesser of two evils. Guess I will have to do that on my own, since not to many people know how to share their opinion of their candidate in a positive light without smearing the other.By Mary

Politicalconfusion, thank you for the “intelligent” compliment even though I accidentally butchered the spelling of democracy. In case you could not tell, I was and still am also politically confused. I have followed politics year round for years and years and have never been so politically confused. I still might vote independent even though I usually vote for one of the two major parties for presidential. From my pespective, it is not a wasted vote to vote for a candidate who has been more intellectually honest with the public about problems with the two party system. That is one way voters can help put pressure on the system to change. As USA Today points out in a front page article today, some “experts” imply Obama’s apparent advantage is not simply due to his positive draw, but due also to the republican negatives. I think we need to have more open political discussions with independent candidates to enhance the dialogue for our democracy. I will likely vote split tickets for local, state and federal elections with republicans, democrats and independents getting my vote.By Politicalconfusion

I cannot believe that as yacky as this board had been I have only had 2 intelligent responses, one from Mary and one from Tim. Does anyone else on here, republican or democrat even know WHO they are voting for…or is it all about who you are voting against? Can anyone else tell me more about the positives of their candidate without smearing the opponent? Tim, once again, thank you for meeting the challenge, you did a wonderful job persuading me. Can no one else meet the challenge, or do you just concentrate your knowledge on all the smear you can read and none of the facts? How sad….By politicalconfusion

Mary, thankyou for your answer. Voting for an independent sounds like a good idea on the surface, but in actuality, it would just be a wasted vote because none of the independents will ever make it into office and I want my vote to count. To Tim, thankyou for your wonderful response. I think you are the very first person in all of these months that could actually give factual reasons why they’re candidate is the one to vote for without smearing the opponent. Your answer was refreshing and intelligent. Would anyone else out there like to explain to me why I should vote for their candidate without smearing the opponent? What are the positive things your candidate is going to do for this country?By joey

To Palin ain’t running for prez, Palin is in effect running for President just the same as Biden is. If something were to happen to either of the two men running for president should they be elected, they would have to step in and fill that role. This seems pretty likely in the event of a McCain presidency. people should be concerned. She does not have an understanding of the world political scene. McCain’s camp is the one who raised the question of experience and she just doesn’t have it. a small town mayor is a lot different than president. She hasn’t been governor long enough to gain experience there. She runs on the guise of reform, but already we have seen her under two investigations for ethics violations, and charges of others. She is a perfect fit to the republican party, as she fires anyone who disagrees with her narrow views. As for Biden the lier…what do you have other than a speech that he had given many times before but forgot once to credit it to its author. Joe Biden is a good honest family man. This upsets Republicans anytime someone who is the epitome of family values runs on the other side while their candidates struggle with their image.By Ben

Yep, Barak is going to lower our tax rates while he sends our electric bills through the roof, JUST WORDS, but his words. He’s got big plans for the coal mines and power plants, he’s going to run them out of business. Read the reports folks, this guy is out of his mind. Do the search like Cat said. This guy is going to turn us into Cuba. He’s going to redistribute everyone’s wealth, depending on that day of the week his numbers change, but the bottom line is he’s going to destroy what’s left of the economy. Pelousi and Franks and others have ridden us pretty far down the rail, nObama will run us the rest of the way. You folks have no idea what you are trying to elect. He’s got big plans for our money and our freedoms. He’s got big plans for our kids and their education and their sexual upbringing. Remember this is a man who as soon as he became a Senator he began running for president. He was elected to the state by knocking others off the ballot, not by election. No one on this board or others have been able to tell me one thing he has accomplished, not one law, not one life has he made better. He is a racist, liar with extreme socialist views. “So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted,” Obama told the newspaper, according to a video of the interview posted on the Web site youtube.com.By tim

politicalconfusion… Obama will give tax cuts to the middle class while rolling back the tax rate on the wealthy to the rates they were under the Clinton administration. Obama wants to work to lower the premiums on health insurance to those who have coverage, and provide an affordable alternative to those who do not. He wants to reform the way insurance companies can deny someone coverage for things like preexisting conditions. Obama wants to end the costly war in Iraq and put focus on finding Osama Bin Laden and destroying the reemerging Taliban in Afghanistan. Obama wants to give tax breaks to companies who create jobs here in America instead of those who ship jobs overseas. Obama wants to work toward energy independence by investing in alternative sources like wind and solar power. He wants to invest in jobs to build the next generation on alternative fuel vehicles right here in America. Obama will audit the federal government for programs that waste taxpayer dollars and are not working and reinvest into programs that do. Obama wants to insure that all Americans who serve their country through civil service can afford to go to college. These are some key points. To me, the choice is clear. OBAMA 08By Mary

politicalconfusion, another option you might want to consider is voting for independents such as Nader or Barr. That vote would at least help send another message to the two major parties that a lot of us think the system is broken and a lot of us are disenchanted with what the two major parties offer and do. The two major parties should also work to include such independent candidates in the debates and other forums for the good of the country and to provide ideas and information to the voters. We are not a real demmcocracy when the ideas and concerns of independent candidates are shut out of the discussion for the most part by the media during the entire campaign.By Palin ain't running for prez

First of all to the last two racist pwts that stated that OBAMA is going to close down the coal mines-you are definitely scared straight-because you are so afraid that you are losing control of all the freebies that you and your pwt family members have been receiving-you want everything free or da..near more than any other race on this earth, you dont want to lose your wht power that you have had over 100 years-your grandparents stole from the indians and the blks and most of you are lazy and go to work everyday when you are not at the Job Center gettin freebies, but the ones that work only go but do not do anything-I have worked for the government for years and I have watched you go and drink coffee and talk to your friends all time without doing anything-you are scared that you losing your power and worried that you may not be so privileged with someone other than your cheatin uncle in office. Get a life and realize that if someone says they have a business and they are not your color that it could be true because we have brains just like you and guess what—we do know how to think and we understand what it means to really work-because we have always had to be a step ahead of you so call better people that mainly have came from the hills of Kentucky and do not have much in your heads but LIES, and how to put someone else down when you know you are falling off your precious mountain of pride..Scared Straight to the point of being dangerous-but mainly you want to put your robes on and go back to having meetings on what to do to someone that does not think like you or look like you because in reality you look like the bottom of my old shoes that has just stepped in you know what..By News FLASH Barak Threatens to Bankrupt Electric Producers

Cat there comes a point in time where you have to quit trying to reason with the crazy people. It is much easier for these idiots to chant the obamatard mantra. They look to him as the great savior. They have accomplished nothing in their own lives and look to the great one to make them whole again. The undercurrent that I am hearing is nObama is going to begin to pay the reparations so many of these losers are hoping for. They are salivating seeing their 40 acres and a mule they think they deserve so their look to their socialist candidate to support that. Most of the morons I know that support this racist candidate are racist themselves or they are the liberal apologists who want to feel better about their pathetic lives so they too jump on the band wagon. When you ask these morons about their racist candidate they just start on the attacks and like the lunatic tonight who is screaming they just start that tactic. If you ask one what would their thoughts be if McCain had been sick enough to attend the David Duke KKK church for 20 years they have heart attacks about that, but their guy can attend one of the most violently racist churches around, but that is okay. If McCain had associated with someone who tried to kill abortion doctors, they would be screaming for his lynching, but it is okay for their candidate to have done all of that. If McCain had supported an organization that crookedly registered people they would be shouting, but it’s okay for their guy. nObama is an empty suit, devoid of anything other than what will get him elected. He’s Bill Clinton times 10 when it comes to lying. We have only scratched the surface of this guys criminal and abhorrent relationships, there will certainly be something come out about him after the election, but by then he, Pelousi, Franks and the rest will have the opportunity to do serious damage to the country. Most of the people on this board supporting him are either racist themselves or at the absolute bottom rung of the employment ladder and are hoping they can steal the real earners money. If that guy screaming really does own his own business I think I see him every day on the way to work, he’s pushing the shopping cart filled with beer cans down 1st street.By CAT

MOUTCH: I’m tired of the race card being played and yes there are circumstances like when i said earlier about Governor Palin had to elimnate an official because he would not fire her brother in law due to his actions. He tazed a man for 45 seconds! If that man was black there would be riots. Just like in cincy when those race riots occured. Because it was two white officers who killed the young man in the dark alley in teh middle of the night, who had warrants out, in one of the most dangerous areas of cincy some how it got turned into race. why? would the same thing have happened if it was two black officers or at least one black officer? No. Not at all! Quit playing the race card and accept facts. There is no double standards there at all and your comments towards Palin were racist and shows your ignorance. We all know McCain did not attend the church of satan, yet Obama did attend a radical, black, extremist church which taught black ideal theology. Do you view that as racist or not? To Socialism is wrong: stop and think. not everyone who is being foreclosed on paid too much for their homes. Job loss and the cost of medical care mixed with the global price of oil have made for a bad situation for a lot of people. When you buy a $150,000 home and you make $100k a year, this is not outside your means. but if you then get laid off and forced to take a job paying $10/hr less with the skyrocketing the costs of consumer goods, and the decline of property values, how could you keep from being foreclosed upon. open your eyes to the truth and you’ll see the real problem.By republicancatisstupid

If the people that can afford to pay the taxes (pay) a little more, that will help the ones that do not pay as much pay their mortgages, keep their houses and everyone would be better—they still will have their $200,000 income and guess what they may earn a little bit more when the middle-class person start spending more money on the business-its a win-win situation—but if you make $200,000 or more naturally you don’t want to help anyone else make it because nine times out of ten you got to that bracket being like Palin and getting (lots of Per Diem) back from the government. If all the money that was used for the fake war-was used in the US, we all would be moving toward a higher tax bracket-not just the ones that want to keep things (hush hush).By cat

divorces do happen and are looked down upon, but they are a fact of life. For Barack I am for limited govt. and I don’t believe the government has to act like our fathers and give us handouts and further more punish us for being successful. your a grown a*s person why can’t you create your own savings? why does my dollar have to support you? therefore why does someone else’s hard earned dollar have to go towards supporting me. there is such a thing as a 401K! put your dollar torwards that instead of buying that beer or going out to eat. I don’t want to go through a mediator to get to the doctor. why if i have the flu, do i have to wait 3 weeks to get into the doctor. i want to call myself and set up my own appointment. i want to chose my plan and what i can and can not recieve. i feel this is a form of well fare and is not needed in this country. this is socialistic views. i do know people come upon hard times and do need help, yet when i was watching tv and saw a woman complaining (this was in NC) that they were tearing down her home for high rises and it bothered her, i was upset too, but then they pointed out it was government housing (projects) and she had been living there for 21 years! i feel people, majority of the time, abuse the system, and it sickens me that my dollar that i work hard for is being taken away to support causes like that it. i ask why? why do you want your money going torwards circumstances like that? if i’m being forced to give my money away, let me chose the cause to donate it too. these are my reasons, and no i do not make more than $250,000 a year, i am NO WHERE near that, i just have my beliefs, political and religous, and i feel that the republican party stands closest to that.By THANKSTOGW

Thanks to GW BUSH we had to start more small businesses in this world to survive because he was giving companies money to move their businesses out of the United States, his ole buddy McCain voted with him, they voted on no gun control and look at all the people that are murdered everyday, we are worse today that this world has ever been-if McCain was the best candidate-why hasn’t Bush been on any of his ads—WHY? Because he does not want to be related to him because how the world is today-OBAMA is the best choice for anyone that really knows what the word REFORM means-it does not mean the devils that have conducted this race like they just escaped the NUT HOUSE, someone needs to put them back before they start a racial WAR, because they are JOKES..By jimmy

BJ, job loses happen no matter who is in office and i’m sorry that had happened. yet at the same time a person can not make promises they can not keep. where is the smarts in raising taxes during a recesssion and on the verge of a depression. everyone wants to blame bush yet the whole world is struggling, not just the US. what will happen if you raise taxes on companies on companies who make more than $200,000 dollars a year and make them provide healthcare to all employees. Numerous businesses no matter how small they are net proffit that ammount. And Obama’s definition of a small business is under 7 employees. Companies, to stay a float, will be forced to cut jobs in turn and things will not be good. Look into these things. If he follows through with this promise, which i believe there will be no way so a lot of people will be broken hearted, you will see the unemployment rate dramatically increase! this could lead us into a direct and long turn depression. just food for thoughtBy Barack the Vote

My wife, kids, and I saw Joe Biden Friday in Kettering and we just got back from the Obama rally at the State House. Wonderfully uplifting and hopeful! Both men talked about reuniting the country, a theme you won’t hear at a McCain/Palin event. I was independent until now, but after hearing them, seeing them interact with their families, hearing what their country means to them, the choice is now clear to me. My wife and I both lost a job under Bush and we cannot afford to go through that again. We have a stack of medical bills and are still arguing with insurance about claims they do not want to cover. I haven’t heard McCain say anything about medical insurance except he wants to privatize it. That is not going to help our family or our country. I say lets wake up Wednesday to an Obama victory!By CAT

Who says you have to be successful to be a republican, thats saying you have to be of minority to be a democrat. That is hideous and idiotic. many members that are republican are that reason because they disagree with abortion, they believe in gun rights, they are for small business and business in general, small businesses make up 97.9% of the economy of the US. Thumbing though yesterdays mail I found another of the daily barrage of fliers warning me of how disastrous an Obama presidency would be. I looked to see what the citations were, as I always check sources, and I noticed it was drawing from a blog…A BLOG!?!? I have officially lost all respect for John McCain and the GOP. You need to wake up and smell the coffee, if you really think that McCain and Palin would make a good team you need to make a doctor appointment and have your brain checked out—it does not take a rocket scientist to see that these 2 are scam artists and out to only help people that have money-anyone else will be doomed. He was a member of the church of Satan—which means he is a devil—you could never call OBAMA a devil cause he is REAL and not running rampant (lying and doing whatever) Now McCain using the word Lord is strange as he’s been doing Satan’s work for so long. I guess this is to get the so called Republican Christian vote. Look —it could work as it worked twice before. As both Democrat and Republican voters lose their homes and jobs it will be interesting to see if the Church people buy the lies again. Next McCain will use what Karl Rove used to get Bush in office. Yes God told McCain he should be President that just might work again for the American people. I know the Middle East hopes it works they don’t mine buying more of the United States and having all the jobs shipped over there so their people can make money and people in the US live in a recession.By CAT

Republicans always recieve hate, yet atlease the republican canidates are open and do not have the skeleton in their closets in which they are too afraid to disclose. I’ve stated many things about Obama which are all fact and reason why I am not voting for him. If Obama is elected watch the uneployment rate rise and his little tax cut keep lowering numbers wise. Steve Forbes was just on TV and stated that by 2010 this tax cut will be for any family making below the $40,000 range. The question that has been raised by some media is whether that the Joe the plumber was a gimmick by the democratic campaign that backfired. Do you really believe that a presidential canidate would be allowed to walk down an open street up to people that he has no record on and no idea if they are armed or not with TV cameras around him? The scene seemed to be set up and somewhat scripted and it completely backfired. Then the democratic media begins to investigate the mans background, and that is very low. Even if he wasn’t the owner or maybe he plans on owning his own company someday, no one has to know his background. You don’t know me from adam to eve and the media didn’t need to know who he was. Here is some things McCain did not know about Palin: They’ve bragged that Palin opposed the famous “Bridge to Nowhere,” only to learn that Palin supported the project and even told residents of Ketchikan that they weren’t “nowhere” to her. After the national outcry, she decided to spend the funds allocated to the bridge for something else. Actually, maybe it’s more fair to say that coincident with the national outcry, she changed her mind. The story shows her political judgment, but it is not a reformer’s credential. Likewise, though she cut taxes as mayor of Wassila, she raised the sales tax, making her hardly a tax cutter. She denied pressuring the state’s chief of public safety to fire her sister-in-law’s husband even though there’s mounting evidence that the impetus did indeed come from her. Ostensibly to clear her name, Palin asked her attorney general to open an independent investigation—the legislature had already been investigating. (I am told that the campaign was aware of the ethics complaint filed against her but accepts Palin’s account.) McCain’s campaign seemed unaware that she supported a windfalls profits tax on oil companies and that she is more skeptical about human contributions to global warming than McCain is. They did not know that she took trips as the mayor of Wasilla to beg for earmarks. They did not know that she told a television interviewer this summer that she did not fully understand what it is that a vice president does. Had McCain had the time or inclination to think about all of this, he still might have picked her. Like him, she has a habit of kicking lobbyists out of her office. Like him, she has a reputation for being a blunt speaker. Like him, she has a rep for cutting spending, and unlike him, had the executive authority to do so, slashing more than 10 percent of the state’s proposed budget in 2007. Like him, she did not seem to care if she offended Republicans. She was, as he told an interviewer, a soul-mate, one he recognized over the course of a single meeting with her last week. That reinforced the sense he took away from their first encounter just six months ago. The official tick-tocks that McCain and his advisers have put out, as well as some interviews with participants, really do suggest that as of early last week, everyone but McCain assumed that he would pick Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, or Joe Lieberman.By Obama's own VP doesn't think he is good

On Aug. 1, 2007, when Obama unveiled his counterterrorism agenda, the Biden camp fired off a snarky email congratulating him for his “Johnny-come-lately position” on Afghanistan, noting that during two Foreign Relations Committee hearings on Afghanistan and other subjects, Obama didn’t ask questions about the Taliban, Al Qaeda, or Afghanistan. Biden has denounced Barack Obama’s poor foreign policy judgment and has strongly argued in his own words what Americans are quickly realizing — that Barack Obama is not ready to be president.” In a debate during the Democratic primary contest, Biden raised questions about Obama’s foreign policy experience. You were asked, ‘Is he ready?’ You said, ‘I think he can be ready, but right now, I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training,’”By Jim

Cat, I believe there’s a lot of over stating and exaggeration on both sides, which is mostly what you copied and pasted. Look, I respect your choice to support McCain. I’ve actually admired McCain over the years and there are things about the Republican platform that I agree. But, I just can’t get past the manner in which he has conducted his campaign. He’s been erratic, gimmicky, negative, and has sold out to the smear mongers who did him in 2000. The final straw for me was Sarah Palin. Now we have McCain embracing this Joe the Plumber character who isn’t a plumber, wasn’t buying the business, and owes back taxes. Jim: I was wrong and it was 14 lies and here they are: JOE BIDEN’S 14 LIES TONIGHT TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.” TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people’s health insurance coverage — they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska — she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it’s not a windfall profits tax. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation — he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.” REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won’t pay any more in taxes then they did under ReaganBy jIM

Obama is an empty suit who has numerous suspicious relationships with people who ought to be in jail and at least one who is in jail. Obama is a closet racist married to another not so closeted racist. Michelle’s thesis is blatantly racist, her statements to the media earlier were outright racist. If any white politician had attended a racist church like Obama did for 20 years he or she would have been run out of the race by the screaming left wingers, but only because Obama claims to be black is he given a pass. We know that the GOP purchased $150,000 worth of clothes for the fake DIVA, she is not even presidential material, when don’t know how to say anything but (hockeymom and Joe the Plumber) this is the worse 2 people that the Republicans has ever had, that is why I switched parties, I refuse to support people that act like they were conducting a KKK ralley or a Circus, they are the worse choice for the party-plus they need to go and work with Rush..since they have the same mentality-maybe CAT can go with them since her brain probably is the same size of Palins..By Jim

Cat, you’re once again undervaluing Obama’s EDUCATION and INTELLECT. You’re ignoring Obama’s years of investment in his education, not to mention his years (1997-2004) in the Illinois State Senate. Chicago is more typical of America at large, then Alaska. It doesn’t make Chicago better, just more representative. Palin couldn’t get accepted into ANY LAW SCHOOL in the country, let alone the University of Chicago, where Obama has been teaching Constitutional Law for the past ten years. (BTW, Truman attended the Kansas City Law school, although he didn’t graduate. He did though, have intellect) Palin went to five different colleges in six years. Does that tell you anything? Have you heard her interviews? She can’t articulate even the most basic understanding of domestic and international issues. Really Cat, she’s not qualified. She doesn’t have the bandwidth! It’s just that simple.By A prediction

“We are about to make the Mother-of-All Mistakes, because the Republican Party gives us no reliable alternative. If the conservative movement does not rally behind the only alternative left to us, this country will become a true Socialistic State within the next two Presidential terms. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the most grave situation this nation has faced in my lifetime. We just experienced an over-hyped, outrageous primary election season that has left me wondering where the heads of our citizens are hiding - must be someplace where the sun doesn’t shine very often. At one time in my life I was a determined, dedicated and ever-loyal Democrat. Then something happened - Lyndon Baines Johnson - that turned my life around and gave me pause for the veracity of a party that lives and feeds off the most unfortunate among us. Some of them are in their positions in life by their own choosing, others by outside circumstance. But always, always there was a door open to them to reach for new heights, achieve new goals, change their lives for the better. Similarly, there have always been the bottom feeders, doing what they could to take advantage of those who had not or have not seen better days, nor realized that they, in fact, were the masters of their own destiny - these unfortunates had come to believe that they were dependent on people in Washington who would look out for and take care of them. They waited and still wait for all those promised freebies. Most people don’t reflect upon the fact that the Democrats ruled Washington for over 40 years; it wasn’t until 1994, when the so-called Gingrich Revolution changed this - but only for a while. These same people do not realize that it was the Democrats who created the failed policies of the entitlement programs that are now falling apart before our eyes. Do not think I find the Republicans blameless in all this. They, too, suffer from the ego and greed built into our system. But in the past few months I have listened with grow-ing horror to the railings of the left, calling for yet more giveaways, more promises of a proverbial ‘free lunch.’ What sums up my feelings, why I am appalled by those in political power is contained within a quote by basketball legend and talk show host, Charles Barkley: ‘Poor people have been voting for Democrats for the last fifty years, and they are still poor!’ Now, with our elections, come yet more new promises of ‘change:’ ‘change we can believe in’, ‘hope for the future.’ But if you really, I mean REALLY listen to what the new messiah is asking for, it is not ‘change of policy’ or ‘change for the better’ - this is a warning that he wants our change. And the change you will get will not be the change you expected or wanted. I leave you my predictions of what will happen if the junior Senator from Illinois becomes President - especially if the House and Senate are veto-proof Democrats: 1) Strict gun laws, though he promised he would not. 2) ‘In God We Trust’ will be removed from all currency. 3) He will renege on his pledge to Israel and leave them to the wolves of Islam. 4) Hillary Clinton will be named to the Supreme Court. 5) Tax rates will surge to the highest levels in 30 years. 6) Capital gains tax will be at least double current levels. 7) Retired Army General, Wesley Clark, will be named Secretary of Defense. 8) Your borders will be open to all comers - especially from the Middle East and South America. 9) Amnesty will be granted to all illegals in the U.S. regardless of status or even gang membership. 10) Our presence in Iraq will come to an abrupt end - with tragic results for their citizens and devastating consequences to our military. My predictions will not sit well with some people - the best we can hope for is that I am wrong.By Cat

Also, she DID NOT purchase her clothing. The GOP did!!! let me rephrase that, “SHE DID NOT PURCHASE HER CLOTHING!!!!” She has even presented the idea of donating the clothing to auctions for charity and to muesums. Obama spent $435,000 on hamburgers and pop for parties. Yet no one wants to state that or bring that idea up.By Wake Up its 2008

Its does matter what college you go to CAT, you know as well as I that if you go to Centerville High School versus Dunbar that you will get a better education because they have more money and better teachers at their schools. You sound like you are a member of the KKK (Palin is dumb as a rock) she did not even know what the duties were for Vice President, furthermore how can you say you are against abortions when she didn’t even try to talk to her daughter or give her hot a.. birth control- you know she knew what she was doing-since she only traveled with the little kids (FREE) from your great state of Alaska, then the fact that she had that one guy fired because he didn’t fire her brother-in-law that was kickin her sister a.., she is the worse VP ever-dumb and dumber needs to go home and try other negative techniques on how to send blks back to Africa—this one did not work..sorry about your LUCK!!!By CAT

Reality: She sold her plane, actually the state of Alaska’s plane, in which the tax payers pay for. Imagine the up keep and the cost monthly that that is to the citizens of that state. She is actually saving her state money and it is stated that the family does fly on the budget as well. It’s not like her family is flying around for a joy ride, they are campaigning for a cause. It is perfectly legal and not currupt. Learn the facts first before you state a comment and call someone crooked or a liar because of an issue that is acceptable and was actually the right thing.By CAT

Tom: This is where we go to education again thinkin that because you go to a certain college that makes you sooooo much better and qualified than someone. Like mentioned by someone before does a student automatically become better or is smarter because he/she attended, say, Alter instead of Dunbar??? NO! Did you know Truman is the only president after 1897 to not obtain a degree!?!?!? And he was the president of the freeworld for 8 years!!! I,for one, have lived in Alaska and it is a great state and it may have only 700,000 people yet she did run that state and did a great job. She had over an 80% approval rating. Look at Chicago where Obama is from and represent and look at the crime that occurs there. He has no influence or power in his hometown, how do you expect him to control a country or for the better part having countries who despise us breathing down our necks with weapons of mass destruction? I have no faith in him at all! Yes Sara Palin was a PTA member, then city council member, then mayor and went onto to become governer, and remember she is running for VP not president. How does Obama go from community organizer to senate and then run for PRESIDENCY in 10 years??? It does not happen nor does it make sense with out political influence and scandal, which we all know he has been involved with, if you don’t believe me look up his ties with Resco, Ayers, ACORN, Frank Wallace, Rev. Wright and so on. Even a committe he was a chairman on donated over a million dollars to one of Bill Ayers foundations! It is absurd to believe there is no crooked ties going on behind the scenes. This is what scares me. Yes he may be a decent man with good intention, but we do not know anything about him and he is willing not to make anything known…By Reality

How can anyone even compare Palin with Obama—she was governor of a little bitty city in Alaska, she is a thief—she steals money from the government by traveling with her family and having the state of Alaska to pay for it, then she speaks on experience when she barely could graduate from college, she was not accepted in many colleges because of her stupidity, and her voice is terrible to listen to her makes my skin crawls, she knows she will take the clothes that she got and keep most of them and turn the clothes from the consignment in —because she is a boldfaced liar and anyone that is REAL can see that both of them lain Mcclain and failin Palin are nothing but jokes and I am sure the Republican party are so ashamed of both of their stupidity…By Jay

We have gotten at least 10-12 robocalls from Republicans in the past week. One was from Joe the Dumber. The Obama campaign has been smart, well organized, and efficient. Even the negaitve ads have not included the vicious personal attacks that characterize the McCain/Palin ticket. Obama runs his campaign like he will run the country, with intelligence and care. He will face so many challenges, but his campaign is evidence that he will handle them effectively. Cat, Obama voted present in only 3% of total votes. What is McCain’s record of voting present? Or even not being there to vote present?By ste

The last two “robocalls” I got were from the Obama campaign. There were no hate filled overtones or false accusations leveled at McCain or Palin. They were basically, “get out and vote for Obama”. The last two McCain robocalls were full of hate and lies. Don’t you see the difference? The McCain campaign resorts to hate filled lies. I do not want hate filled liars in the white house. We already had that with Bush/Cheney. And, what a failure that has been!By Jim

CAT, Palin ran a state,(for less then two years), that has less then 700,000 people, is off the beaten path culturally, and has a budget surplus because of oil. You or I could run that state. You’re forgetting two important ingredients. Intellect, and Education. Palin couldn’t even get into the University of Chicago, while Obama has been teaching law there for over ten years. Have you listened to Palin try to answer the simplest of questions? She’s clueless and doesn’t grasp complex issues. It’s a national disgrace that Palin was put on this ticket. Even McCain’s own advisors are calling her a “wack job” and a “diva”.By blu

Celebrities have always used their clout for political swaying. But let’s talk about McCain and Palin pimping themselves on SNL. Unfortunely, their appearences on the show are indicative of what’s to come if they are in office. PURE COMEDY.By Mary

gh, I think it is great that all voters are finally getting involved in the democratic process. However, hearing that young or old people might vote because of some celebrity endorsement, instead of being better informed on the issues, is sick and a detriment to the democratic process.By CAT

And what more experience does Obama have??? he was a senator…. not a governor and last time i checked that is not as high in the pecking order. She ran a state, he gave suggestions. She created jobs and cut taxes, he voted to raise taxes. what experience does Obama have that out weighs her??? I don’t see any, adn like Arnold stated at the rally held for McCain, Senator McCain has spent more time as a POW than Obama has in senate! Think about that!By Jayne

The mystery to me is how anyone can find Sarah Palin qualified to be VP. In her interviews she has clearly shown an ignorance about everything the job entails. She’s come up short on Economics, Foreign Policy, History, Health Care, Constitutional Law, etc… It’s like hiring Joe The Plumber to do brain surgery.By CAT

time for change huh? Obama is a hypocrite. he calls for change yet wants to raise taxes in the time of a recession. even the governor of new mexico stated that the tax cut is for anyone under the $120,000 range. so obama changes his mind in less than a year from 1 million dollars as rich, to 500,000, to 300,000, to 250,000 to 200,000 to 150,00 now one of his biggest supporters who has a direct insight, is stating $120,000. who do you believe? Obama even voted to raise taxes on families who made under $42,000! who can you believe now??? Hell even is aunt has been living in the US illegally for 5 years now! Do you really want that as our president? He has not answered questions, he is always in hiding, and he won’t reveal who the real him is! These are things that we do need to know! Do you actually believe other nations will respect him? What military back ground has he had and how many times has he actually taken a strong stand for something? I don’t believe voting present 100 and something times is taking a stand… Just think about these before you do vote…By ste

The robocall I got was from Tom Ridge. Some may remember him as Mr. plastic sheets and duct tape to protect against bioterrorism. (he must have worked for 3M.) Younger people probably don’t remember him. And, agree, McCain will probably secure the vote at assisted living facilities.By Joanie

The darker comment was real cute Tom. Lets face it, its time for change. Mccain voted for Bush over 90% of the time and people are actually voting for him?
