Boehner keeps House Minority Leader post
By Josh Sweigart Staff Writer
U.S. Rep. John Boehner will remain House Minority Leader.
In a closed door vote among House republicans today, Nov. 19, the West Chester Twp. Republican retained the post he won in two years ago.

The 59-year-old Boehner’s sole challenger was California Rep. Dan Lungren.
Lungren pushed for the closed door session so the lawmakers could have a frank discussion about leadership and the future of the party after recent losses to Democrats in the legislative and executive branches.
“The months ahead will present Republicans with an unprecedented opportunity to renew our drive for smaller, more accountable government and present positive solutions to the challenges facing the American people,” Boehner said in a prepared statement. “We have to seize this opportunity, and seize it together. I’m deeply honored my colleagues have placed their faith in me and the newly-elected members of our team to lead this effort.
“To rebuild the party, the energy has to come from us. And I will challenge all of you.”
The Republican caucus under Boehner will look a little different this year, with 20 fewer members after the November election and some new leadership.

Well the poster boy of K Street kept hi old job. He’s the prime example of a do-nothing congressman. He loves the spotlight, but he’s no legislator. But, he’s got a district that thnks he’s better than sliced bread. Iforesee him as one who will not be bipartisan to move this country forward. Obama is too black for him to accept.By Pete

He voted for the $700B bailout, although he publically opposed it. If he had to go so far as to hold his nose to make a point, then he’s a spineless idiot. Anyone w/ a backbone would’ve stuck by their guns & voted against it for principle, not because “something had to get done.” I didn’t vote for him just for that reason. And unfortunately, there’s not enough folks in WDC w/ the stones to get the job done. He’s not there to back his constituents… he’s out for his own agenda. The best way to get “unstuck” w/ him is to vote him out of office.By Rob

True dat - he did make sure no funds went to NCLR; but AIG got enough bailout to fund a couple of nice executive getaways to Arizona. Oh yeah -his “rules” that he got put in the bailout helped sell a huge Ohio financial institution down the river, too. But he couldn’t be bothered to stick around that day and vote for benefits extensions for all the Ohioans saddled with real employment problems. If his “leadership” keeps progressing at the current rate, I predict he’ll win the minority leadership post again in two years, this time in an open floor vote. My guess is the tally will be 4 votes for Boehner and 1 against, as that’s all the more Republican membership you’ll have left.By Patty

(cont’d) LaRAZA out of the initial bailout. He is going to have a REALLY hard job with the majority being the democrats. We need him there to continue to protect Ohio’s interest and keep the federal government out of our homes and our wallets. Unless us Ohioans are planning on supporting the rest of the country we need Boehner and we need to support him. Boehner does respond. For every e-mail and fax I have sent him, I have always gotten a response. I may not like the response, but I get one. He is the only politician that has listened to me.By Patty

He has made his mistakes, but this year I have watched him on C-SPAN and he has been working very hard for us. His biggest mistake this year was holding his nose and voting yes to the bailout. He worked hard to get rules put in that bailout and he did get the ACORN, Urban Housing and LaRAZABy Great

I agree ukgirl. I sent him an email 2 weeks ago about the comments he has been making and he never has responded. He is a joke and I can’t believe we are stuck with him.By ukgirl

Well I guess things are going to stay the same since John “BOY” is still #1. In other words he will continue to vote NO on everything and pretend he is working for the “Good citizens of Ohio” since there are so many jobs in China for us we don’t need an unemployment extension.By ukgirl
