Coughlin to Ohio GOP: “Butt out” - let voters decide
State Sen. Kevin Coughlin, R-Cuyahoga Falls, apparently isn’t ready to concede the GOP nomination for governor in 2010 to former U.S. Rep. John Kasich of suburban Columbus.
Kasich is scheduled to formally launch his campaign on Monday, June 1. Coughlin announced earlier this year that he’s seeking the nomination.
In a letter on Monday, May 26, to Ohio GOP Chairman Kevin DeWine, Coughlin said the state party had promoted Kasich’s announcement and asked the GOP to step back.
“…we are the party of free markets. We are the party that trusts the people,” Coughlin said in the letter to DeWine.
“Let the horses run. Let the Ohio’s Republican voters decide for themselves which vision for our state they prefer. Let the voters decide our nominee. It’s their election.”
Asked if the Ohio GOP had any reaction, John McClelland, party spokesman, said in an e-mail:
“Not really.”

BTW Pam, Strickland should be a definite no to returning to office and continuing to permit bars and other private business owners to go down the drain and lose their investments. He is a big NOBy kybriar

I agree Pam and I will not support any candidate who puts big pharma’s nicotine profits over the business owners in Ohio. The new governor must not be swayed by outside interests profits and do what is right for Ohio businesses and that includes telling pharma funded smoke free Ohio aka american cancer society, lung assoc. and their paid lobbyist mouthpieces to sit in a corner and shut up.By Pam

Funny how, when it applies to HIM, Coughlin speaks of free markets. He doesn’t support free markets when it comes to bars catering to their clientele’s KNOWN preferences by exempting bars from the smoking ban. Double standards? BRING ON KASICH!!!By Leslie
