$79.3 million in stimulus cash coming for Ohio cops
Ohio cities, including Dayton and Springfield, will receive millions of dollars in federal stimulus money to pay for 336 police officers over the next three years, the White House announced Tuesday, July 28. The cities must commit to retaining the officers for a fourth year, under the terms of the grants.
These Miami Valley cities are expected to receive grants: Dayton $5.6 million for 21 officers; Springfield $1.3 million for seven officers; Hamilton $1.4 million for six officers; and Trotwood $438,000 for two officers.
Nationwide, $1 billion in federal funding is expected to pay for 1,046 officers.

Toledo got about $7 million but yet 15 cops are still layed off. Wouldn’t you think that is enough money to keep them employed also? Oh yea, maybe Toledo couldn’t afford to pay the balance for the next 3 years. Wake up and see what scams these are.By Joanie

438k for 2 officers….for 3 years. Do the math. That is @73k per year per officer. Considering that Police Officers generally make a decent starting wage…lets say @45k per year….plus the OT that he/she will get for court, plus the cost to furnish equipment, plus benefits, etc….it doesn’t seem so out of line anymore. That is not including any additional expenses for training, OPOTC certification if they already do not have it. The one thing that we cannot cut back on is public safety. They are there for a reason, and as far as im concerned, they do not make enough money for the risks they take. Those who ever say that we need to cut back on fire and police, will be the first to b***h about it when they need help, and they have to wait for it.By Holy Cow
