UPDATED with Dem reaction -House GOP press conferences to focus on economic development
Ohio House Republicans will use a series of press conferences on Monday, Sept. 21, to announce a package of economic development proposals, according to a press release.
The Dayton-area press conference will be at at 11 a.m. at the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, 1 Chamber Plaza, Dayton.
State Reps. Jarrod B. Martin, R-Beavercreek, Seth Morgan, R-Huber Heights, Peggy Lehner, R-Kettering and Terry Blair, R-Washington Twp. are expected to be in attendance.
The press release said the Republicans were “frustrated with a lack of action on the part of the governor and the Democrat-led House Economic Development Committee.”
Republicans held meetings over the summer with business leaders to help prepare the proposal, the press release said.
Democrats control the House and the governor referred to in the press release- Ted Strickland - is a Democrat.
House Speaker Pro Tem Matt Szollosi, D-Toledo, issued a statement reacting to the GOP effort.
“Over the past 10 months, House Republicans have offered few ideas and said NO to nearly every Democrat-led effort to create jobs and get our economy moving again,” Szollosi said.
“Today’s announcement by House GOP members is a positive sign that they have decided to reverse their opposition to the job-creation initiatives we’ve put forth and start joining our efforts to help get Ohio’s economy moving again.”

Tremont( you didn’t even take the time to capitalize your name )lt didn’t take long to figure out that YOU are one of those ILLEGAL aliens. there were thousands of jobs lost to ILLEGAL aliens in the roofing industry alone. Look at the laws passed about hiring ILLEGAL aliens! l, an millians of other AMERICANS, are tired of paying our tax money to support those ILLEGAL aliens, We have to pay their scooling, their medical bills, their food stamps, their heat bills, etc, etc, etc. At 71 years old, l’ve probably got more education than all you and your relatives six generations back. Yes the drug companys are doing great by us buying your peoples medicines with OUR tax money. As far As MY song, lt goes, ” Deport all the ILLEGAL aliens and it will benefit all the AERICAN people, Black, white, Mexican, and Native Americans. You seem to have no concept of what the word illegal means. If you can live in this country ILLEGALLY then l should be able to rob banks ILLEGALLY. Why won’t our government realize that ONE illegal act is the same as ANOTHER illegal act. lf your people all want to live in the USA then lets annex your country to ours. That way you can all recieve welfare LEGALLY ! Talk about LOSERS, Why don’t you learn to speak american and go for becoming a LEGAL citizen of the USA. You have nothing better to do but nitpick on my spelling ? l’d make a lot better president than the last two we had.By tremont

To War Name one person who has lost their job to an illegal alien. I have yet to meet anyone who can tell me the name of just ONE person who has been replaced by an illegal alien. Secondly, your problems are not brought on by others, but by your own lack of education. The drug companies are going just fine right now, Also, by your failure to use spell check, you show yourself to be very lazy. Blame others for your failure: The Loser White Mans Theme Song, and you sing it well. The idea of you as president is laughable, but The Fox Fear network is looking for you.By WAR

Ok, how about, shipping out all the ILLEGAL Aliens. That would create a hell of a lot of jobs ! That would also plug up a lot of drains in our medical, drug, and schooling bubgets. How about bringing back all the AMERICAN jobs (Automotive, radio and electronics, steel mfg. clothing mfg.,toys, appliances, auto parts, auto accessries, etc, etc, etc.) How about using and developing our own natural resoarses. How about refining our own oil instead of sending it to Japan from the Alaskin pipeline, theat us taxpayers paid. Beware, if everyone reads this they will be wanting me to run for president, Be an AMERICAN, buy AMERICAN.By Belle

Great. We need to keep an eye on “Economic Development”. They use tax dollars to give to businesses and don’t hold them to the terms of the give by either creating the jobs they said they would or keeping the jobs in the area (can you say NCR?). “Economic Development” has been the entity that is supposed to be working to attract businesses to the area and creating jobs—but the truth is that most of the money that businesses get through ED is based on if you are friends with the ED corporation. The same people get the low interest loans and the tax breaks. Where was ED when all of these companies were fleeing Montgomery County? Not working hard enough.
