Dayton’s ‘The Other Place’ gets $50,000 grant to help homeless
The Other Place in Dayton has been awarded a $50,000 grant to develop a new 24-hour emergency facility, which will include dormitories, to accommodate 178 homeless men, Lisa Patt-McDaniel, state development director, announced on Thursday, Oct. 29.
The Other Place also provides supportive services to those at risk of becoming homeless or who are already homeless, a state press release said.
The grant was part of $673,000 in community development grants announced statewide.
“Through these community development funds, jobs for low- and moderate-income citizens will be created, a community’s downtown will be enhanced and additional assistance will be provided for homelessness prevention programs,” Patt-McDaniel said in a press release.
