Yost to announce for auditor on Monday

Delaware County Auditor Dave Yost will announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination for state auditor on Monday, Jan. 25, setting up a possible primary with state Rep. Seth Morgan, R-Huber Heights.

Matt Borges, Yost’s spokesman, confirmed the announcement plans on Sunday.

The announcement will come at a news conference at 2:30 p.m. at Ohio Republican Party headquarters in Columbus, a sign of the support Yost has from state Republican Chairman Kevin DeWine, who asked Yost to consider getting in the auditor’s race.

Yost has been running for the GOP nomination for attorney general against former U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine of Cedarville, Kevin DeWine’s cousin.

The possibility that Yost would leave the AG’s race and give that nomination to Mike DeWine has upset some anti-Mike DeWine conservative Republicans, including some in the Tea Party movement.

Morgan remains in the race, said Rob Scott, Morgan’s spokesman.

“We welcome the challenge,” said Scott.

The state GOP was faced with finding a candidate for auditor after Republican incumbent Auditor Mary Taylor became Republican gubernatorial candidate John Kasich’s lieutenant governor running mate.

Hamilton County Commissioner David Pepper is the Democratic candidate for auditor.

Has anyone ever considered that the ORP may just have the insight that others of us have that Seth Morgan is a self serving individual with an over inflated self worth? Maybe they want Yost to run to save us the embarrassment of having Seth on a statewide or national stage.

Who is the Republican Party to tell people when it’s their turn to run for an office? That’s the message being given Seth Morgan, “wait your turn”. Mike DeWine has had his turn and keeps popping back up like a bad acne. Conservatism needed Dave Yost to run for AG while needing Seth Morgan to run for Auditor. Now one good conservative cancels out another good conservative and the non-conservative gets the nomination that will excite absolutely no one except DeWine’s family.

Dave Yost went from telling us he wanted to be Kasich’s AG to now we wants to be Kevin DeWine’s chamber maid.

Seth won’t be happy until he is elected President of the United States. Why wait? Why pay your dues? Be a man and throw your hat in the ring and run for President now Seth. Save us all the trouble of watching you run for every available office until then.

What is the ORP’s goal? To see how many Democrats they can put in office. They have already assured Strickland a victory for running that hack Kasich. Now they want to make sure Cordray has the AG office. Good move ORP.

Just as Republicans supported Mary Taylor with her CPA credentials, so should Republicans support Morgan. Morgan is right for the Auditor position and Yost is only right for the AG position. Yost should not give up his race against Mike DeWine! Morgan for Auditor.

Thank you Mr. Yost and Mr. Dewine!! Seth needs to thank god he made it as far as he did. What a dwebe. I have honestly never met anyone who I thought had less of a backbone and would do anything for an opportunity to move up. Won’t this make the 4th office he has ran for in 6 years? Seth, if your really in it for the people, why dont you actually do something for the people that doesn’t pad your resume for once.

I like Seth as a State Rep and would vote for him again, but not going to vote for him for Auditor. I’m going Yost

What is going on? I like a CPA in the auditor seat. Yosts campaign materials needs serious work compared to what’s being done for Cordray. The material didn’t do much for him at all! He’ll never win with that stuff!

Still gonna vote for Seth Morgan - Yost shoulda stayed in te AG race and given us someone to vote for instead of Mike DeWine who will now definitely lose to Cordray in Nov.
