Cordray to seek re-election

Democrat Richard Cordray plans to announce on Tuesday, Feb. 16, that he will seek re-election as attorney general.

Cordray first won statewide office in November 2006 when he was elected state treasurer. When Democrat Marc Dann left the attorney general’s office in the wake of a sexual harassment and management scandal in 2008, Cordray ran for and won a chance to serve the remainder of Dann’s term.

Cordray is being challenged by former U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine.

The DeWine campaign recently released a poll showing the Republican leading Cordray by double digits.

Meanwhile, campaign finance reports show DeWine has $1 million in cash on hand compared with Cordray’s $2.6 million.

Is this news? Maybe I missed something, but was there any point where this was in doubt?

Here is Kevin DeWine’s game plan. (*) Don’t care if Mike losses as long as Mike’s money is used to fight Cordray in November, thus depleting Cordray’s funds so he can’t help Strickland with money. The GOP would rather sacrifice the AG spot than have Strickland have access to even more cash.

Note to “jacob” I’m not a Tea Party member, but could you please tell the difference between Cordray and Dewine? Especially when the AG’s office could be hearing cases that DeWine took the liberals’s stand on while a Senator? Does DeWine suffer from a campaign year convertion on guns and such. And why wasn’t DeWine interested in the AG’s job when asked by the GOP after Marc Dann was ousted ??

I know the Tea Party idiots are going to jump on here and bash Dewine, but he’s got my vote over Cordray any day.
