Sen. Voinovich praises Obama nuclear reactor plans
U.S. Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, gave a big thumbs up to President Barack Obama’s announcement of a nuclear loan guarantee for the construction and operation of two new nuclear reactors at a plant in Georgia.
The loan guarantees are for about $8 billion and the reactors would be for the first nuclear plant to break ground on U.S. soil in nearly three decades, Voinovich’s office said on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
“Although loan guarantees alone will not sustain the nuclear renaissance, I believe this is an essential step,” Voinovich said in a press release. “My colleagues and I created this loan guarantee program back in 2005 to promote clean, advanced energy sources,” Voinovich said in a press release.
“….Our country needs nuclear power - the jobs, the energy security and the environmental benefits it provides.”
Voinovich said he looked forward to “hearing more about what President Obama will do for nuclear power and jobs.”

Hello TRS! I knew you couldn’t stay away. This is off the current subject, but I want to update TRS after a lengthy exchange we had on tea baggers. I have learned that I actually do know 2 more tea baggers. I work with a public agency and this couple applied for a subsidy funded by tax dollars. We do check these applicants out, so I learned they have a blog. I learned from their blog that they had misrepresented themselves on their application AND that they are supporters of the Tea Party. So they are against taxes, but they tried to defraud tax payers! Prefect! Now I have more fine examples of your party besides my co-worker, who is really a nice, honest person.

Agree with the idea, agree with the Prez endorsing it, doubt if it will ever come to being because of the leftie environmental wackos

I am not against nuclear power, as long as the waste is disposed of in republicans’ pants.

Not against nuclear power generation. And yes, it is safer now than back in the 3 mile island days. I Am against transporting the waste to the western states for burial/reprocessing. If a nuclear plant is built in a state, the same state should deal with the waste and not turn the western states into a dumping ground. Besides, a reprocessing plant and nuke dump in Ohio would provide even more jobs. Quit the “not in my backyard” syndrome.

Obama will only use this for a few jobs, it will take longer to build than he will be in office, and I doubt it will ever be fired up , due to the fact Liberals hate nuclear power, they will fight this tooth & nail. it will be buried in Lawsuits..

Isn’t this old Voinobitch RINO supposed to retire and go away? We are sick of seeing, not reading, his news and views on the Opinion page of the Miamisburg Snooze, so boring that he has us snoring or skipping the page.
