Strickland named head of Midwestern Governors Association

Gov. Ted Strickland was named chairman of the Midwestern Governors Association and co-chair of the Council of Great Lakes Governors, according to a press release from the governor’s office on Sunday, Feb. 21.

Strickland’s agenda for the midwestern governors group is “midwest jobs,” the release said.

This includes training workers and investing in businesses for the new energy economy and building on the regional efforts to foster economic growth and opportunities for the Midwest in the new energy economy, the release said.

He replaces Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

“As a region, the Midwest must determine how to best open up credit markets for mid-sized and smaller advanced energy companies,” Strickland said in the release.

“As we cast off our reputation as the ‘Rust Belt,’ we must capitalize on the entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic of midwesterners to expand our energy economy. Our region has the resources and potential to move this nation forward.”

Wow! With an absolute dumb* like Granholm, and a crook like Blago, Strickland seems like a gem! The gene pool is a bit low. Granholm sucks!

Jay, it is no longer about party, it is about the person. Strickland did not resolve the problems left by the previous Governor. Strickland did not change the course. Strickland does not have a plan to bring back prosperity to Ohio. Strickland’s idea of improving Ohio is to have more government, BIGGER government, more government services. Strickland supports BIG central government. Kasich has a plan to bring the private sector back to life in Ohio. To reduce BIG state government and give responsibility back to the communities to the people. Kasich believes in government to give you a helping hand but not for government to support able body people from cradle to grave. Also Jay, Kasich was not in the Bush Administration. Kasich was in the Clinton administration. He balanced the federal budget.

So let me get this straight. over 20 years of Ohio being considered a republican state and 8 years of Gov Taft in which we also lost hundreds of thousands of jobs under followed by 4 years of Strickland who was not as bad as the last administration. I don’t know what you’re talking about in regards to the mess Tedd Strickland has made. What mess has Strickland caused to make Ohio worse off than we were under Bob Taft? If I can recall it was under the Taft years that we suffered from a lack of diversity in our economy. Heavily relied on the Manufacturing sector as the backbone of our economy instead of creating new industry. That is what put Ohio in the ditch for so many years not strickland. Go do some research. I don’t understand why you would put the same party back in power that has done nothing over the past decade. Especially trying to elect a guy like Kasich who was a part of the Bush Administration. And there is only so much the governor can do. Its all about the legislative body and the administration.

You’re both so right. Strickland clearly caused this economic recession himself. I mean, just look around the country and see all of the other states doing so well at this point. Oh wait…
