2 Ohio Democratic House members become ‘yes’ votes on health care bill

The Associated Press is reporting that U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Toledo, who had been undecided over the health care bill because of concerns it would put public money toward abortion said on Sunday, March 21, that she is voting for the measure. U.S. Rep. Steve Driehaus, D-Cincinnati, has also decided to vote in favor of the health care reform bill after President Obama promised to sign an order banning the use of federal funds for abortions.

Here’s more from the AP report:

Ohio Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur said Sunday she will support the bill when it comes to a vote later in the day.

In a statement, Kaptur says she is convinced that the bill will maintain existing law on abortion. She says the bill addresses the nationwide problem of affordability of insurance plans.

Kaptur has been an ally of Democratic Congressman Bart Stupak, whose opposition to the bill because of concerns it would foster public funding of abortion has been a major hurdle for its passage.

William Hopkins what is ridiculous are people like you. Your kind talk like you are the only persons in this country paying taxes. We all pay taxes. As a tax payer I’m happy to see my tax dollars finally go to something for the good of our country. A healthy nation will be a properous nation.

The employer can now pay the $2000 a year or whatever it is and not cover an employee. The employee can keep his coverage as promised but will pay all the premium since his employer opted out and paid the fine. The employee won’t be able to cover the premium because he is now paying his employers portion. This will force the employee to drop his coverage and go to the government run health care…see how they screwed you out of your coverage?

John Boehner comments continue to be an embarrassing lie after lie. Who wants a senator in office who lies about everything in this administration. Just because he is angry he is not sitting in Nancy Peloski’s seat he is frothing at the mouth and turning red not to have that seat.

When republicans were in office they had Palm Sunday voting—oh there republicans and its OK anything they do by some of you. Least be honest and informed. You can have the best health care this country has to offer but the joke was on you—you use it you lose it. Healthcare and drug companies were ripping you off just like American car companies and their bailouts. Ha—stupid is as stupid does! Stupak was about NOT funding abortions…can’t you people hear. This healtcare does not fund abortions. Did you not watch C-span?

people just hate it when their neighbor gets something they need for free, even though they are getting the same thing. we have become so un-american, shut up whiny people, it’s called health care we all need it an affordable price. And hey, did ya ever think, if this doesn’t work, they will change it until it does? It’s not chipped unto stone forever.

The rednecks will be screaming to high heaven now that those with pre-existing conditions will be able to obtain healh insurance. Of course, if THEY had a pre-existing condition they would scream even louder, wouldn’t they?

Congressman Stupak will be judged by his constituents, his church, and by God for becoming a modern day Benedict Arnold. His vote to pass taxpayer funded abortion along with his democrat co-conspirators will cause the slaughter of millions of unborn children. They have sold their soul to the devil and will spend eternity trying to escape the shackles that bind them.

What ever happened to spending your own money to pay your doctor’s bills, saving money to cover emergencies, and buying insurance to cover those unexpected events? You can work minimum wage jobs (yes, you have to work more than 40 hrs. per week) and have enough left over money to buy medical insurance. Those who do work will now be buying health care for all those who don’t want to work.

As a former Ohioan, I felt incredible shame and disgust in listening to the crude comments of John Boneheadner in the chambers of the House of Representatives on the healthcare reform legislation. He will go down in history as an embarrassment to the residents of Ohio as a mean, petty, knucledragging, in-the-pocket-of-the-health-industry, Luddite. Oh. Now I remember why I left Ohio. It elects sad little minds like him.

Passing a health coverage bill to GET sick uninsured Americans covered is the MORAL and RIGHT thing to do. Heck, Bush vetoed a child health care bill TWICE…and that PRETTY much says where the GOP stands on supporting sick uninsured Americans.

All of you in support of this are ridiculous. This only helps the bums living off of us hard working Americans. You just want the government to force the rest of us to pay for “your” insurance. You don’t have a right to take from our pockets so stop trying.

No karon, companies will have a harder time competing and keeping jobs or didn’t you catch that Caterpillar will pay 20% more. In dollars that’s $100 million more! That extra costs will come from higher prices, fewer jobs or both. And, have you forgotten all the foreign companies who can build cars here that have lower associated costs than the Big Three (now two) because they don’t have the UAW to worry about which added at one-time more than $1,500 per car. UAW’s answer; America needs to pick up our costs. You can tax me more but you can’t make me buy their cars, unless Dems seek a law for that too.

Kathleen, So you are saying that being against this bill that it is okay for health insurance to raise premiums on their members, dropping people’s coverage when they become seriously ill, and keep denying people with pre-existing conditions coverage.

Marcy Kaptur will be one of the next Dems I will actively work against. I have decided to give money to ANY opponant of any member of Congress in ANY state that voted yeah on this health care travisty. Too bad members of Congress don’t have to play by the same rules. If those rules were changed we’d see significant changes in D.C.

Vote them all out in November. They are not representing their constituents anymore; they are voting their own opinion. They should be made to get the same health care they are forcing everyone to get!!

Why is it that this administration always has to have these “crucial” votes decided on a weekend - at night! Surely it couldn’t be because they think the American public isn’t paying quite as much attention and what they’re doing couldn’t stand the light of day! We get the government we deserve - and everyone who was too busy to vote in the last election can take a look in the mirror if you want someone to blame! I hope people remember in November!! I certainly will!

I believe that congresswoman Kaptur is being PAINFULLY NAIVE regarding the health care bill. Has this current administration shown integrity in anything they have done??? The truth is this bill does not address the true problems in health care and yes, if it passes you can be sure that federal funding WILL OCCUR for abortions and RATIONING OF CARE will be an everyday reality. I am extremely disappointed that so many in Congress are glossing over this and all I can say to those who vote “yes” is: You will have to go to bed at night knowing you have disgraced the American People….and by the way…
