Boehner makes final plea against health care bill

As the last member of the House to speak before House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the vote on the health care bill, House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-West Chester, gave a heated plea against the bill.

“Can you go home and tell your senior citizens that these cuts in Medicare will not limit their access to doctors or further weaken the program instead of strengthening it? No, you can not,” Boehner said. “And look at how this bill was written. Can you say it was done openly, with transparency and accountability without backroom deals struck behind closed doors, hidden from the people? Hell, no you can’t.”

Boehner’s House district represents parts of Dayton, Riverside and Huber Heights as well as Miami, Darke and Preble counies as well as parts of Mercer and Butler counties.

To crazies, I’m an electrical engineer… so now that we’ve both posted our resumes, let’s agree to disagree. I use to think that we could not be forced into anything that we didn’t want, however, this healthcare bill just proved me wrong. Time will tell, I truly hope that our government has our best interest at heart. I truly for our sake hope so. Just remember, a government big enough to give you everything is a government big enough to take it all away. (and that includes your rights) PS-Just a side note, a company doesn’t really have to make money when their getting a load of it from your taxes. I still have a copy of the bragging advertisement that 79 million of our tax dollars from the “stimulus” monies was given to Verigreen. Hmmmmmm. By the way, I don’t need a tin foil hat for anyone to track me with, I have a cell phone.

@madge: believe it or not i’m am a software developer who designs systems for real-time access…i don’t have to look anything up to know what it is…just because someone has a website doesn’t mean a thing - really…hell, i bet you frequent conspiracy theorists websites - doesn’t mean the theories are real or will have an impact on our lives…did you know that Positive ID Corp (makers of Verichip) is being sued because they state that adoption rates of this technology are high, despite the fact that no one is buying it? did you also know that several states have laws protecting employees from using these chips? so they can “brag” all they want about the technology - no one is buying it and they’re being sued…make another batch of the kool-aid, i’m sure there is a nutjob seminar gathering right now!

Crazies, Why don’t you look it up before you make comments like you do? Look up Verichip Healthlink and PostiveID. Find out this information, they have their own websites in case you don’t realize this and they are in fact a very large company stationed out of Florida. Also find out what real time access is before you call me crazy. Real time access is in the health care bill and PositiveID’s ads brag about their implantable “real-time access” microchip. Also, the FDA approved the Human implantable microchip back in 2004. So get off your lazy behind, and off the WII game, collect your brain cells, and look this crap up!! Maybe you don’t want to find this out because either you’re too lazy, too ignorant, too scared you’ll be chipped like a dog,or simply can’t read.

madge, do you hear that?! i think they’re circling your house right now!! i bet they were able to track you because of your tinfoil hat…or, i bet the kool-aid was spiked even worse than you expected!! it’s scary to think there are folks like you who get to vote and help determine the future of our country…it must be a sad, sad life you lead…the good thing is, i bet mental health will be covered by this new legislation, so you can probably check in soon!

I’m not going to be nasty just will say this again. Do any of you know what a biometric, class II, real-time access data transfer device is??? If you do not know what this is, than I suggest you go to Verichip Healthlink and PositiveID to find out. Verichip is an implantable microchip that tracks everything about you. Verichip Healthlink tracks your medical records and PositiveID tracks your financial records. Verichip just recently aquired PositiveID. Back to real time access of your financials and medicals records. Here’s the kicker, a committee will be set up to determine if your current health care meets their guidelines, if not, they will TAX YOU AND YOUR EMPLOYER. How long do you really think employers will absorb the costs? Not long, and since it’s mandated that you NOW have this Health care if you are without insurance or face a large fine, or go to prison, you will be put on this healthcare program. For God’s sake, listen to me people, it’s not about health care. Please people educate yourself to technology and what’s going on. A class II device is an implantable microchip and before I get arguments, a pace maker is an implantable device but a pace maker has absolutely nothing to do with data transfer and “real time access” to your medical and financial records. Please people, I want everyone to have good health and health care, I’d pay higher taxes for that, but look at the bigger picture.

Your either part of the solution or part of the problem. I keep reading that even the opponents of this bill think we need HC reform, Just not the way it is written. Then why in the hell didn’t Mr Boehner do the right thing and try to make this bill what you think it should have been. As a public servant he should of offered a solution instead of just saying no. The first public servants to get the boot should be the ones who sat on their hands instead of serving the people Good or Bad! And you all talk about change in the up coming elections, yet you will jump at the chance to re elect this non serving servant, Remember when you go to the polls did he try to make it better for all of you who oppose this, Are did he just fail to represent you also, Think about it!

WRONG! JB is not in touch with working people he is in touch with elitest donors including insurance companys that give him MILLIONS to do his bidding. I broke my hand in February and received three bills totaling 1180.00 dollars. Three from the local hospital(Wayne in Greenville)amounted to about 600.00 where a nurse told me(after two hours)I needed ice on it because it would be another two hours for an xray. I have pictures of the bloody vial laying on the floor three feet from a biohazard box in the room I was put in. Would JB accept this kind of health care?! I make less than 10.00 an hour. For all those who argue that the government “can’t” run any programs successfully— does your arguement extend to the military? Do you consider that a failure too? Last time I checked, that was government run. Secondly, I would stop arguing that the Republican’s want to solve healthcare but “no one listend to them.” They had power for eight years and made no effort ever to address the systemic problems. If you wanted to solve the healthcare promblems in America, you could have.

In other words, a plurality of Americans are actually in favor of the bill passing! Stop listening to the lies that Glen Beck and his cronies are telling you!

Jeff you are so not very informed. The dems created this bill behind closed doors and didn’t want the repubs help. As soon as the repub started debating they were kicked out. Why would any conservative vote for government run healthcare when they represent conservatives? Unlike the liberal the repubs actually vote for their constituents. The vast number of Americans did not want this bill to pass so the repubs were on the side of the people. I don’t think the dems need the repubs to make them look bad as you will see in the next election. If the dems realy cared about heatlhcare for the uninsured they could have insured these unisured for a fraction of the stimulus money. This is all about government take over of the healthcare system to control the lives of the middleclass which is completely communist.

I am in awe of the mindless comments I have read here. I now know why America is in decline and will continue to do so. We are in the process of turning our health care over to a government that can not run anything properly. Yes this bill is only the first step on the slippery slope of control of every aspect of life from cradle to grave. Government control is not the answer to anything. Freedom is what America once stood for.You can not get security by selling your freedom. We once took pride in our self reliance and can do attitude. When did we become so pathetic to think we could not take care of our selves with out government intervention? My family has fought for this country from the revolutionary war to the present, but it was not for government control. It was just the opposite it was to live free. freedom to act in our own best interest not to have to beg for crumbs from the table of an out of control big government. We will soon be another democracy on the dung heap of history,a footnote to mans quest to be free. There may be a few who still yearn to be free but it seems the majority would rather just have a secure stress free life with someone else telling them what to do. I will mourn the life you lead, full of nothing except control from cradle to grave. I only hope I am wrong and there is a flicker of what America was burning inside the heart of all who would give away what we once held so dear. Freedom to be the best we can to stand tall in good times and bad and to only ask that government not get in our way.

Boehner is telling the truth. Truth hurts. Obama bends the truth to match his agenda. He bypasses the law when he wants the end to justify the means. He says it’s all about the law, but then he argues he doesn’t want to get caught up in the process. The process is the law. Obama went to Harvard, and he doesn’t know that? He’s too stupid to be our President. Nationalizing HC and student loans was a big mistake. Hoping Republicans can reverse the damage when they take over in November. Nothing will stop it.

It’s a no-brainer how Obama got the Mexican rep votes. He is going to pass a bill to legalize illegals. He also made a deal with Stupak to write an Exec Order to outlaw tax payer funded abortions, but everyone knows that a law enacted by Congress TRUMPS executive orders. So Pro-Choice Obama didn’t give up anything on that trick to get the pro-life votes. He sure tricked them good. Obama is a liar, just like Wilson said. Obama will bring illegals in my legalizing illegal immigrants. That’s how they will end up getting HC insurance paid for by the tax payers. We are now a socialized nation, no longer built on the Constitution, for this bill is unconstitutional because it mandates healthcare insurance.

I am VERY proud of our courageous leader. I’ve read bills that were published, including the euthanasia parts. Abortion is NOT a health care issue but the government chosing who lives or dies. I DO NOT WANT the government chosing FOR any citizen, born or unborn. This bill passage is an affront to freedom and the wishes of the majority of the people. It denies the protection of life, period. I am ashamed of the Democratic party. Medicare worked fine for me, however, I object not to eliminating it, BUT to our loss of freedom in the passage quaranteed by the constitution and the bill of rights to all citizens, not just those in the government. It is pasttime to make major changes before we’ve lost all the freedoms cherished by its citizens. This is much more than a monetary/save the poor issue, but the government may chose to euthanize and who lives or dies issue/AND WHO PROFITS issue. We must examine our own self-interest, and the interest of our government. Many in and out of government are majorly influenced by politically’ corrected’, biased education per most schools and media. This problem is a very old one. I seem to recall, the seed was planted by William James, a leader in education before the 50’s. I am alarmed. cc

I’m amazed at the people who are so upset that they tell us that the government is politically motivated… well, duh. Geez, and they don’t like mandates that tell us to get insurance or else - try telling that to the State Trooper that pulls you over and wants to see your proof of insurance. You right wingers have become nutjobs through and through.

Boehner didn’t need to read the bill. He had over $2 million from the health care industry to tell him how to vote.

I’m really not sure that everyone that’s anti-Boehner here realizes what’s going to happen over the next few years if this law takes effect. All of us are going to have to pay for everything from teen abortions to HIV treatments for crack whores to flu shots for illegal immigrants. I’m glad everyone else can afford the taxes that are going to come of this (figure about double what you’re paying now), because I sure can’t. It’s not free medical for everyone, it’s everyone paying for medical care whether or not you need it.

How does Boehner keep getting re-elected in his congressional district? He doesn’t represent the best interests of his district, nor the best interests of the American people. If civilized countries like Japan, Australia, Germany, France, Israel, Great Britain (to name a few) can have a comprehensive health care system for their respective citizens, why can’t the United States? I have to assume that the US must not be quite as civilized as those countries!

How long will Butler County allow this hack to continue to embarrass us each and every time he opens his mouth? He is a disgrace to our community. How many thousand Americans died while he stalled and delayed this life saving measure? Too many!

Boehner was accurate when he said SHAME ON US, for letting 47,000 americans die EVERY year for lack of health insurance. Shame on us, and shame on him for trying to keep the status Quo that keeps right on killing them, shame on him for all the lies he told about the HC bill.

To all of you shouting about Medicare cuts and “kill grandma” you haven’t read the bill, just like Bonehead! The cuts are to Medicare Advantage, those add-on policies that people DON”T have to buy that are paid .15 of every $1 by the GOVERNMENT. (socialized???)Their reimbursement is much higher than regular Medicare, and now that will stop, along with ins. companies profits. Those premiums were going up, too. All the “little” changes from the Repubs were included in the bill anyway. Sore losers and obstinate jerks, all of them. Stop watching FOX!

Unfortunatly, Boner will be reelected because the people in his district are old stubborn WWII babies who only know one way of life. They are non progressive narrow minded dirt farmers who care about nothing but themselves. I know, I live here. I don`t agree with the bill, but I agree he should have been a part of the solution.

What are you fools spouting? Oh yeah, the gibberish of Boner, that we’ve killed our parents and made this a communist nation. Suprisingly, the opposite has happened. We (yes, the majority, you know, that voted for the President, the guy that Won!) have watched a great change in the nation that will help many many people, including (gasp) my own mother. Go read some facts.. no, not the GOP website or Fox News,.. go read the real deal.

You can’t blame Boehner for the HC bill passing. The fools who voted for the Democrat majority are the ones to blame. We warned you this prez would take over HC and he did. Things will get worse. Premiums will double. HC will be rationed. Medicare was cut by $500B. Do you really think that’s going to HELP the elderly? I say it’s closer to socialism where they let their elderly die and refuse them needed surgeries saying they don’t contribute to society. Twilight Zone time. Disrespect of elderly. U.S. turned the corner to Socialism last night. Communism is right up the block a ways. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to see it soon.

Boehner for President! His impassioned words moved me. We will stand together and put this monstrocity under our heels. It’s not over yet. 38 states are challenging the Constitutionality of mandating healthcare. Obama’s backdoor deals will catch up with him and his administration. Obama’s next 2 bills will be to legalize illegals and add a one payer system. Don’t forget he took over student loan program, too. Govt can’t be trusted to make decisions like who gets to go to college and who doesn’t. Gov’t is politically driven as we saw by the voting numbers. Vote them out this next election.

I had THOUGHT one of the MOST honorable and HEROIC deeds an American can do was to SAVE THE LIFE of their fellow American who was less fortunate. Providing health coverage ALLOWS americans REGULAR medical treatments which are COVERED AND WILL save lives. The GOP rather SAVE A BUCK in tax money than save a life. What a piteful mindset that is….

Read up on the Hitech Act, read up on Verichip and Positive ID, read up on what happens when the public funds abortion (even late term) read up people and wake up sheeple. If you’ve read even a section of this bill you would agree with Boehner. I for one will remember who voted for this diabolical plan. I’ll remember in November!!!!

Congressman Stupak will be judged by his constituents, his church, and by God for becoming a modern day Benedict Arnold. His vote to pass taxpayer funded abortion along with his democrat co-conspirators will cause the slaughter of millions of unborn children. They have sold their soul to the devil and will spend eternity trying to escape the shackles that bind them.

Maybe Boehner should have gotten involved in writing the health care bill instead of whining like a baby and trying to block anything from passing so the republicans could try and damage the dems.. We need health care reform.. trying to stop it just to make dems look bad has failed the public of any good the republicans might have contributed..
