TV ad thanks U.S. Rep. Driehaus for health care support
Groups backing the health care overhaul signed into law by President Barack Obama have released TV ads thanking members of Congress, including U.S. Rep. Steve Driehaus, D-Cincinnati, from Ohio’s First District, who voted for the plan.
The ads on CNN and MSNBC, started Thursday, March 25, and will continue through Tuesday, March 30, a press release said. The groups behind the ads are Progress Ohio, a liberal advocacy organization, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and Health Care for America Now, a health care campaign.
“Congressman Driehaus proved he is on our side by voting ‘yes’ on the health care bill,” Brian Rothenberg of Progress Ohio said in the press release. “This is an historic moment, and we are proud that Rep. Driehaus will be on the right side of history.”
The $63,000 for the Driehaus ad buy is part of a larger $1,000,000 thank you advertising campaign led by HCAN and AFSCME, the release said. Driehaus faces a tough re-election campaign against former U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot, R-Cincinnati.
Here’s the Driehaus ad:

The GOP didn’t say ONE WORD while the health insurers where dropping sick policyholders. GOP NEVER DID try to see if the health insurers could cover any of the uninsured folks. GOP NEVER tried to find out WHY the health insurers kept going up on their rates 10, 20, 30%. Up over 75% during Bush presidency. The GOP did NOTHING…because the GOP DIDN’T CARE!!! Now that the health insurers HAVE RULES/REGULATIONS..now they care. What hypocrites…

All I know is that Driehaus is on record as stating he would not vote for a bill containing provision for abortion. He compromised his principles for personal gain by voting for a bill that clearly does provide for federal monies to go toward abortions. How can we trust him to seek what’s best for his constituents when his locus of control is himself?

Whats is with “Children” up to 26 yrs of age being elegible for coverage under their parents health plan? I could see it if it addressed children in college or children with a disability, or children actively on record looking for a job. But I have to wonder what the incentives are for the lazy under acheivers that have no intention of putting down the video game controllers and even seeking employment for the first time in their lives. Sadly enough, being lazy, positive drug tests, and poor attendance has kept an alarming amount of our young folks from being employed. I hope the celebrating parents of these “Children” realize that their health care costs, and ours, will go up to cover this great benefit. I guess we can’t blame them for sitting on their behinds if we are going to reward them for it.

Dems have a big nerve to refer to Rep. Boehner as a “liar” when BO has broken so many promises, it is hard to keep up. But let give a few important examples. If we pass the huge stimulus bill immediately, it will keep unemployment at 8%. If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. The $1 trillion hc will reduce the deficit after covering 32 million more, 26 years old, no preexiting conditions, and no ceiling on hc costs. The CBO did not include the $200 billion doctor fix yet to go through Congress, i.e there goes the $128 billion savings. And on foreign relations, BO said he was going to negiotate with world leaders with no preconditions, but has put so many preconditions on Israel before the US will be involved with peace discussions. Meanwhile, Iran goes on with any sanctions.

Hey Scoobydo, your screen name certainly defines the liberal democratic fictional views of reality. Its so hard to relate to, or debate with the socialistic fools that think we shouldn’t defend ourselves or our interests, that its OK to kill infants as a means of birth controll, pilfer the rewards of folks that go to work and give to those that choose not to, complain about the treatment of terrorists that slaghtered three thousand people on 9/11,force their views and opinions on our youth in school, fear any kind of religion as an evil threats, bailout big business as a means of obtaining part ownership of them (Control),let the government ruin the healthcare industry to aquire ownership and decision making power including “end of life” decisions, and so much more that smacks of socialism/communism. I can only hope that there are still some “John Boehners” around when your Obama koolaid hangover wears off and we are all living in government assigned cubicles. God, yes I said God, help us.

All this anti Driehaus, and the rest of the local reps are “hell no” tanman liar Boehner, and shameful birther liar name-calling mean Jean. Yep there is some good use of law making. How is “hell no” a platform people can stand with? You go from supporting a president that lied us in to 2 wars, committed war crimes and now support “hell no” as a bumper sticker? That sure sounds like progress in any situation.. or just horrible losers. Keep waiting to see them all hold their breath and stomp their feet because they are not getting their way.The shameful minority will stay that way just becasue they do not understand the majority is with progress.

The day after the hc bill was signed a very good friend had to drop her Medicare Advantage plan because it will be gone. Instead, besides going up $30 a month premimum, she will be charged higher copays and a $550 fee for admission to a hospital. It was pretty upsetting when you are on a fixed income. And the worst thing, she had to change all her doctors after 20 years. We have not yet gotten the tax bill yet, but it looks like the major corps are having to budget for their new hc tax. Most of what GOPs said about this job killing plan will unfortunately happen. Your ad was a waste of $$. You Dems need to be fired!

Driehaus made a gutsy and wise decision in enacting laws to regulate the health insurer. The GOP is representing these insurers WHO have tricked, shortchanged and OPERATED without any rules or regulations for their industry. These folks TRIED to buy off congress..THIS congressman stepped up and did the RIGHT THING..

If you are on our side why did you vote that medicare be REDUCED by half a TRILLION dollars. Is that being on our side?? I do not think so. I will get less health care and my daughter that works for a nursing home will get less pay because of your health care. That is NOT on my side.

Dems are the party of death, when the health care has been in place for a few years. These liberals who have supported it will my guess have a change of heart. That is when their handicapped children die due to lack of available care, as will their parents who have become elderly. This man supports the murder of the innocents, how can anyone support this? Our president supports partial birth abortion, and the practice of letting viable babies die, that is if they survive the abortion procedure. How can anyone say this health care bill is so great and they ( congress ) tell us that they’ve done this for us, yet they and their staff are exempt from the bill’s coverage.

Republicans have proven they CAN NOT govern or regulate business. Repubs want to solve every issue with a tax cut and deregulation. The Republicans absolutely failed with their light weight ideology. Like Health Savings accounts and anything goes, ultra leveraged business financial policies. Know what Credit Default Swaps are? Berniee Madeoff? Congressman Driehaus has proven he is for the middle class by voting for health care reform. Beat Mr. Chabot by 4 percentage points will win by at least that again, Ohio Electorate are smart voters they know progressive Democrats are really looking out for their best interests. With substantial health care reforms and real regulations on insurance corporations. Never go back to those failed despicable Republican policies. “Reagan proved deficits don’t matter.” VP Dick Channey.

First off NO ONE protested OUTSDIE Driehaus Home on Sat. They were 5 houses down. Their were a total of 6 adults and two kids at this house, THEY did not march down the street. 4 Green Twp Police Cars were on hand to watch this protest, A giant waste of Police time for a non story. I know the man who home was used for the protest. NOW I know Driehaus and he is going to be sent packing Nov. Also for the story that Congress doesn’t pay into Social Security, WELL Since 1984 after Pres Ronnie R sign into law a bill that makes all Congress/Senator’s pay into SS. If you want to check it out go to www.snopes.com/politics/socialsecurity/pensions.asp or C-Span has it on their links as does the National taxpayers Union. OR GASP stop by your local Congressman office and have them show you the law where they pay into it. This info will never die, but again since 1984 they do pay in to it. I am one that will make certain Driehaus will not be back. Cincy Paper and Ch 12 did a Poll not long ago that shows Former Congressman Steve Chabot has a 60 to 30 lead with 10 % who don’t know who they will vote for in Nov. Even many who supported Driehaus in 08 have come out against him for 2010. He is gone come Nov. Heck the person whose yard was the scene of the protest, had words with Driehaus in 08 as Driehaus keep putting up his signs in the guys yard. Seems Mrs D kept taking down the Chabot signs and putting Driehaus signs up. Police were called, after viewing a Video of Mrs D taking the Chabot signs down told her she could not do it, a formal complaint was made to the Hamilton Co BOE. Nothing was done other to warn her not to do it. On WLW Radio Thursday many who were at the Sat Protest called into to Mike McConnell’s show to say they never marched in front of his house. Even a former Libertarian who ran for Congress called in to say the same thing. NO ONE were protesting in front of Driehaus home. Gee not suprprising to see the news making this much bigger then it was. Not a single news station showed where the protestors were standing. Nothing wrong with a man having friend in his yard to protest. Last I heard this was still a free USof A.

Bye bye Driehaus, bye bye. Better start looking for a lobbying job now, you’ll be out of a job after the November elections. Maybe the crazies at moveon will hire you. Or, you know ACORN will re-form under a new name - perhaps you can go work for them and register more Disney characters to vote in Ohio.

Congress has been exempt from many things, including social security - why would this be different. Health care was a platform that Obama and many others ran on during the election, and the majority of Americans elected him and the members of Congress. Instead of working with the majority, the Republicans chose to obfuscate the process and have gotten what they richly deserve. And now they have chosen to not work cooperatively on any other of the issues facing this country - we will see if the people want to go back to the status quo or continue to move forward in the coming elections.

Driehaus can’t understand why people would protest at his home this weekend. When are these idiots realize that they can’t what they want and not listen to the American people they are supposed to represent. You can’t trash the constitution and expect people not to be upset. If this bill is so great for America why is congress exempting themselves from it. They all need to be fired along with Obama,Palosi and the rest of these liberal idiots. At least this reporter is letting people respond to this article unlike that Liberal Hag Mary McCarty
