Small business group set to endorse Kasich for governor
The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) - Ohio on Monday, July 19, is set to announce its support for Republican John Kasich for governor, Kasich’s campaign said on Friday.
Kasich and state Auditor Mary Taylor, the GOP candidate for lieutenant governor, are expected to be at the endorsement event in Columbus at the Columbus Truck and Equipment Co., Inc., a press release said. The small business group has about 24,000 members across the state.

As an owner of a small business I find the tax burdens of the federal government, primarily the social security tax to be far and way the most onerous tax in the country. Cutting state income tax will gut the state budget while providing very little additional money to businesses or individuals. Counties would then raise property taxes, another tax that is highly inequitable in comparison to the state income tax. Its a bad solution and I don’t think this group is representative of the interests of small business with this endorsement.

If you think that cutting taxes is going to improve the states economy you are out of your mind. The loss of taxes in particular consumption tax revenue is what has us here in the first place. A gradual end to state income tax will result in millions of dollars lost. Companies such as Duke are already withholding taxes, with more companies to come. That my friend is a road to disaster.

Kasich has stated that he favors a gradual end to Ohio’s income Tax. The way to accomplish that is to improve the economy. Ohio needs jobs as bas as any State, but has a problem with the high taxiation rate in Ohio. Businesses do not make a profit when they have to pay so much in taxes. Reducing taxes, or even the promise to reduce them, can make Ohio more favorable to new business. Ohio has the transportation, labor base, and many natural resources to intice business. Ohio used to be a great industrial state until the Democrats passed so many tax and spend bills. So when kasich says we can grow Ohio with fewer taxes, he is right on… Liberals like hih taxes to support welfare programs. Jobs can grow the person and eliminate the need for welfare programs. That is for the ones who really want a job for self respect and to support their families. I am not referring to the life time welfare pukes.

“… teachers union … if they join Kasich …” Max, the OEA is endorsing Democrats across the state ticket. No surprise, since redistricting the state (after the census) provides the opportunity to make Ohio more reliably Democratic and increase the taxes needed for higher salaries and benefits for teachers. The goal for this election: about 20% increase in sales or income tax and redistricting so Ohio goes for Obama in 2012.

Taxes have been cut by 17% while Stricklnad has been Governor. It’s pretty pathetic that people here are criticizing Strickland for not doing something he did.

Strickland has been great for Ohio education reform and has halted Ohio from crashing even further in this great recession by providing stimulus to create and save jobs. And has signed legislation to make Ohio a leading producer of advanced energy. He is the man for the job.

Skeptic, you’re right but, dude, you have to know it doesn’t matter anymore. This is about Kasich getting business on his side versus Strickland having nothing, including his national party, on his. The sad thing is neither of these two idiots will suffer more than us. Even the losers get lucky sometimes…..TP

Their should be a law that before you can become a certifiable liberal whack job you should have to run a business - in this case in the State of Ohio. One would be astounded at the level of taxation, regulation and oppression put on employers by the State of Ohio. Their is a correlation between the t, r & o on the employer and the fact that Ohio has one of the worst businesss environments in the United States. For almost 4 years Strickland has added to the misery of businesses during the worst economic environment of our lives. The man has done nothing - lets try someone else because things can’t get any worse than they are now - well… I guess Obama could get relected.

Not surprising that small business would support the guy promising to cut taxes. Unfortunately, he has yet to explain HOW he would cover the loss or how many programs and services would be eliminated as a result. Short-sighted thinking is not good for Ohio. Where will we be in 5 years? Lower taxes are not competitive if our roads and schools are falling apart.

Well, that’s a sharp stick in Strickland’s eye. Now, the knock-out punch is available to the teachers union…..if they join Kasich, this race is over and the Dems can spend their campaign donations on other things to help the economy.
