Kasich defends record in new TV ad; says Strickland trying to “tear me down”

Republican John Kasich on Saturday, July 17, unveiled a new 30-second TV ad, blasting incumbent Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland’s record and accusing Strickland “and his friends” of trying to “tear me down.”

It is the Kasich campaign’s first TV ad and is running in the Cincinnati and Columbus markets

Strickland and Democrats have cast Kasich as a tool of Wall Street, citing Kasich’s employment as a managing director of Lehman Brothers, the investment banking firm linked to the nation’s economic meltdown.

In the ad, titled “Record”, Kasich, a former Columbus-area U.S. House member, minimizes his role at Lehman Brothers, speaking to the camera and saying:

“I didn’t run Lehman Brothers. I was one of 700 managing directors. I worked in a two-man office in Columbus.”

As for Strickland, Kasich says:

“Ohio’s lost 400,000 jobs under Ted Strickland. He can’t campaign on his record.” The most recent data from the state shows Ohio has lost about 380,000 jobs since Strickland took office in 2007.

Here’s Kasich’s ad:

As someone that uses the Veterans Administration Medical System and found it much better than corporate health insurance. The VA does everything to get you healthly all the tests and treatments to keep you healthy while the HMO insurnace corporations cut corners every time like BP Oil in the Gulf of Mexico. Every time a Republican gets in office they say there for the Veterans but VA always gets funding cuts with Republicans. Just like the hatchet man Bush appointed the head the VA. Veterans please vote for Democrats they won’t cut VA funding like the Republicans have and will, your level of service from the VA will go down if you vote for Republicans.

T.C…. As a person who has worked on Statewide Veterans issues for almost 15 years, could you enlighten me on the key veterans bills that Kasich supposedly voted against. Last I was aware of his voting record on veterans issues, it was very respectable and why he enjoyed popularity with statewide organizations. So please…enlighten me.

Just to clarify- fortunately Strickland’s slots plan was stopped. Voters obviously eventually approved casinos, and that is fine. It’s not the slots I had a problem with; in fact I voted for them. But I was in the minority that time. But the voters did not want them, and Strickland should have respected that. But he didn’t. That tells me all I need to know about him. Simply put, he isn’t very good at his job. And yes, I voted for him over Blackwell. Won’t make that mistake again.

When you look up Kasich’s record you’ll see he was the Chairman of the Budget Committee that crafted the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, and he presided over the first budget surplus since 1969. That wasn’t Bill Clinton, folks. You can say anything you want about Kasich and I may agree with much of it, but he has an actual record of balancing a budget. Strickland obviously does not. And let’s not forget, folks, that it was Strickland in Ohio and Obama in the White House who each ran on a platform of fixing the problems they knew they would inherit. Nobody forced them to run. They voluntarily ran. They knew they were inheriting messes, and they knew the messes were bad. Yet they promised to fix them, said they had a plan. There is no excusing when they don’t get the job done. What we need most is someone who can balance the budget, and Strickland has proven he can’t do it. Remember when the voters rejected slot machines, and Strickland turned right around and tried to backdoor the slots by putting them under the control of the lottery? That was his solution to plug the budget hole- not reducing spending, but going directly against the wishes of the majority of voters- close to 60% if I recall correctly. Go away, Strickland- you had your chance.

Man, the conservatives have a real persecution complex. It’s hilarious. Paula, be careful what you wish for. Kasich, too, is a politician, as bought and paid for as any other.

Strickland didn’t lose the jobs, he just happened to be on board while Bush was President and Wall Street deregulation almost bankrupted America. Just like every State, Ohio suffered…it wasn’t Strickland. Do you bozo’s have any memory at all? Wake up. It took Reagan 6 years to get out of a much milder recession than this one, yet many of you worship Reagan’s despite paying way higher federal income tax than you are now. If you don’t remember, read up a little and go by facts, then stop back in and add something intelligent to the comments. Kasich is bad news people.

T.C. I too am VERY Conservative. I too do NOT support John Kasich for Governor of Ohio. The Columbus Dispatch newspaper did an expose’ called “The ABCs Of Betrayal”. In that newspaper series, the administrators at Worthington Christian Schools (WCS) and Grace Brethren Church (GBC) along with their attorney got caught while deliberately putting thousands of students at “risk” (their secretly-recorded word) for nearly a decade with several repeat child molesters lead into temptation to molest again, while deceiving and defrauding the parents about it, while the WCS/GBC administrators and their attorney conspired to cover up their crimes (i.e. Conspiracy of Criminal Negligence, Deception, Fraud, and Cover-Ups) against the parents and students, including John Kasich’s family. The repeat child molesters were employed at WCS as Teachers and Coaches as well as Youth Directors for elementary-age children. John Kasich and I are just two of the thousands of parents who were deceived and defrauded by those administrators and their attorney while those individuals deliberately put our children at “risk” with several repeat child molesters lead into temptation to molest again. John Kasich was easily manipulated by and chose to cower down to his deceivers. John Kasich also refuses to answer questions about those very serious crimes. Surely, the vast majority of Ohio voters will agree that this clearly demonstrates that John Kasich does not have the courage, integrity, leadership qualities, or the common sense needed to be a suitable Governor for Ohio.

Talk about hitting the nail on the head Strickland and his administration have done unspeakable things to the business owners and citizens of Ohio. If I were him I’d want to talk about something else too! Jim and all the other liberal whack jobs still promote class warfare by trying to imply or just directly lying about Kasich’s role with Lehman Bros. Hussein Obama has at least 9 former Wall Street fat cats in his administration who were far more responsible for the Economic melt down than Kaisch could have been - but you don’t here Jim and the divisive Dems talking about that do you? Go ahead and put all the sorry a$$ libs in power and then get ready for the biggest tax increase in the history of the world after the elections - all in the name of saving our country from huge budget deficits. The tax increase train rolling out of Washington DC if the liberals have control is one train that will surely get here even without Karen’s help. VOTE FOR SANITY. GET BACK CONTROL OF OUR GOVT SPENDING - VOTE OUT LIBERALS INSURRECTION NOW!!!

Before you go cast your vote for Mr. Kasich go online and look at his voting record from when he was in congress. He voted against Veteran benefits more than once. He also voted FOR the assault weapons ban of 1994. He did NOT vote nearly as much as he voted. How can someone of such inaction and lacking in conviction expect to lead anyone let alone an entire state. By the way… I’m a conservative. VERY conservative!

Strickland may not have been a great governor, but Blackwell would have been worse. Kasich is an opportunist, obviously. I won’t vote for either of the losers we have to choose from. No thanks.

Alright Kasich!!! People are starting to realize that Ohio cannot afford the incompetence of Strickland, again. Of course, the parasites of society will “BOO HOO” cause there will be no more free ride . . but what can you expect from a person who doesn’t take responsibility for their own failures in life.

I have come to the conclusion that all libs are pathological liars. “Observer” seems to think if he makes up this absurd story, people will automatically believe him. He also tries to use “class envy” to gain support. This made-up story is becoming LAME!!! A person has to have an I.Q. of a “door-knob” to think that Strickland has been good for Ohio. Name one thing Strickland has accomplished . . except give welfare recipients a bonus last month to buy their vote.

“TRYING TO DEFEND THE INDEFENSIBLE.” Kasich’s investment advice lost Ohio pension funds nearly 500 million dollars. Only reason Kasich worked in Lehman’s two person office was use his political connections with Ohio pensions to invest with bankrupt Lehmans. During the Clinton’s Presidency, Kasich voted agangist the Bill that created surplus budgets for three years until Bush gave tax cuts to people that didn’t need them four month into Bush’s Presidency May 2001. Kasich made a half a million dollars from his terrible investment advice while Ohio pension loss millions. Kasich is a very much part of privatizing the profits and the losses public ideology, he’s lived it. Kasich is INDENFENSIBLE
