Obama coming to Columbus to raise money for Gov. Strickland
By Jack Torry
Washington Bureau
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will deliver a speech next month in Columbus on the economy and host a fundraiser for Gov. Ted Strickland and the Ohio Democratic Party, a White House official said today.
The official said Obama will first speak about the economy at an event on August 18, followed by a separate event for the fundraiser. The official declined to provide any details.
Obama will be making his ninth visit to Ohio since assuming office in January of 2009. In June, Obama spent 58 minutes on the ground in Columbus at an event to promote the $787 billion economic stimulus package approved last year by Congress.
Even though Strickland supported Hillary Rodham Clinton in the 2008 Ohio Democratic presidential primary, his re-election is regarded as crucial for the White House. Strickland is running against former Republican congressman John Kasich.
Rob Nichols, a Kasich spokesman, said that “given the fact that the most recent Rasmussen survey shows that 54 percent of Ohioans disapprove of the job that President Obama is doing, we hope he has many Ohio trips planned between now and November.”
In its announcement, the White House made no mention of Senate Democratic candidate Lee Fisher, who is running against former Republican congressman Rob Portman.
But Lynn Bowman, Fisher’s campaign manager, said that “Lee is excited to have both President Obama and Vice President Biden helping Ohio candidates, because it helps him hold Congressman Portman accountable for his 20 years.’’

@True History - It depends on how the question is asked? Dems could be the party of No as well. Do dems believe that people should be responsible for themselves? - NO Do Dems have any concern for the amount of debt we leave future generations? NO Do Dems believe that success should be rewarded? NO Do Dems understand how an economy works? NO Do Dems really understand the danger of letting just anybody into the country? NO Do Dems really care about giving people quality care? NO Do Dems care about leaving this country better than they found it? NO Do Dems understand that wealth creates wealth and when wealth is destroyed, it is gone? NO Try it, the list is endless…

Hey “True History” what ever happened to family taking care of family. Why is it the governments job to take care of those who CHOOSE not to take care of themselves? Also, since OBAMA CARE HAS BEEN PASSED just you wait and see all the old folks being DENIED services because it is not COST EFFECTIVE TO DO SO. You speak like you actually care about people, but the ones who need us the most you allow to be aborted. So “TURE HISTORY” don’t act like you care for people when you could care less.

Republicans have proven they CAN NOT govern and regulate business. Their light weight ideology is to solve every issue with deregulation and tax cuts for people that don’t need them. Before Social Security a Democrat’s program, the major cities in America had morning morgue patrols to pick-up the elderly that died on the streets. Now that never happens, thanks to S.S. and the Democrats. Republicans have no plans to improve the lives of Ohioans Republicans have No Substance. Republicans the party of NO. Republicans put their ideology above the peoples welfare ever time. Infamous quote by the 2nd man in the Bush Administration “Reagan proved that deficits don’t matter”. Republicans just hate everybody.

@UKgirl - Pretty broad statement about all republicans, do you really know any? Conservatives care to get this country back on a track where ANYONE can succeed on their own merits. Gvt does not need to be involved in every aspect of a person’s life when that person is prepared to be RESPONSIBLE for themselves and their families. Allowing the gvt to provide everything for you makes one a slave and REPUBLICANS abolished that 145 years ago.

In one week Obama has snubbed the boy scouts and gone on the View. Am I the only one who thinks these two acts telegraph a message ” I am gay ” ? Obama hides behind women because in the company of real men, he can’t cut the mustard. And he knows it.

What’s left? 97 more days until the worst president in history becomes the lamest duck in history? It can’t happen soon enough, in my view. Barry has been exposed—he is an America-hating “progressive” and racist that lacks any real management skill. He couldn’t run a Dairy Queen, let alone guide the Federal Government. He has no idea what his role is and, even worse, he’s surrounded himself with a bunch of socialists that pull his strings, driving America straight to Hell. We need to kick out this Obamination and kick out ALL incumbents. Congress won’t impose term limits, so the voters should. We should vote out incumbents EVERY election and promote common folk candidates, not professional politicians and lawyers. We CAN save America from these traitors, but we have to get motivated to do so. Quit watching American Idol and start talking to your friends about your values and what’s REALLY important for our kids and future generations…and how we can save America from the ruling class. Go vote. Get your friends to vote. Get your neighbors to vote. Push, pull or drag ‘em to the polls—GET OUT THE VOTE and end this reign of tyranny that is destroying what is left of the great nation our ancestors worked so hard to give us. We’re failing them. REMEMBER in NOVEMBER!!

Very smart move for Strickland to grab the Muslim vote!Obama’s father and step-father were Muslims and he spent his childhood living in a Muslim country where his school enrollment records say his religion is Islam. As President he genuflects to the Muslim King of Saudi Arabia but not the Christian Queen of England. He thumbs his nose at America’s friends and bows to its enemies.Obama’s first big speech was in Cairo. Obama has hired many Muslims to re-direct US policy. Obama replaced ‘war on terror’ with ‘overseas contingency operation’. Obama has banned the words ‘Muslim’ and ‘terrorist’ from being used in the same sentence. In short, Obama quacks like a Muslim, waddles like a Muslim and acts like a Muslim, so is he a Muslim? I would say, “Yes! He’s a Muslim

I would like to ask President Obama several questions but I would settle for just these 3.. Where are all the jobs that you promised in the election at? Why do you seem to not care at all about the people of the gulf coast during a time of need? What happened to “changing the culture of Washington” and having the most transparent administration in history? The last question is what many of us hoped we were getting but it is clear now that you are a very deceitful man. You are no better than President Bush who hid the truth to go to war.

You gotta love the line “I voted for Obama but I hate him now”, followed immediately by a run-on sentence of teabagger talking points. peek-a-boo we can see you It’s a shame that these people are the same that abhorred any dissent during Bush’s proven disastrous 8 years. Heck, at least Bush gave us (those of us that gave him a shot) a reason to not like him. Please, what has Obama done that is on par with precedent setting preemptive war? Many wrongs have been righted or have been brought to the forefront of our attention in the past 19 months. Are we fixed? No, and any person living in the real world would agree we have a long way to go. Maybe we should let the govt take the form of the teabagger party, omg we would see a social uprising like none other, nobody really wants to live in their oily and money polluted heaven, but they’ll vote for it to happen.

President Barack Obama, the honorary chairman of the Boy Scouts of America, will not speak in-person before the group on Wednesday at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia, as part of the organization’s 100th anniversary celebration. However, the president is sending a videotaped message to the scouts for Wednesday, the same day he will be in Manhattan to tape an appearance for ABC TV’s talk show “The View.” Pretty much sums up where his priorities are.

I was an Obama supporter during the past election - that has all changed in one and one-half years of seeing this country (and Ohio as well as most other States) disintegrate before my eyes with broken promises, misguided alliances, refusal to address the real problems, and the failure to respond to situations. It’s the old ‘blame someone else’ syndrom - bad news. Every day, every news item leads us closer and closer to the edge. And we’re tole ‘things are getting better - it just takes time!’. Mr. President, we’re out of time - we need positive results, improvements we can see and measure. At thuis rate of descent, we can’t wait till 2012 to voe you out. Bear in mind the social abuses and citizen uprising just occurring in Bell, CA., with regard to excess, waste, and corruption, and bear in mind you could be next. High unemployment is never acceptable - it creates crime and poverty and people will do what they must to exist as we’ve seen by the dramatic increases in those areas. Strickland, in a recent televison investigatie reportive story reminded us of his ‘humble beginnings’ in poverty - he therefore should be totally committed to the elimination of it and its results, but we haven’t seen this - especially now, with turning to Obama as his support and a symbol. Obama is a lost cause, and will be nothing but a detriment to America and its citizens till he’s ousted. Measure his (and our) progress over the past one and one-half years - do we see the promised reduction in OPEC oil? Has TARP and any of the bail-outs (for which we and our offspring will be paying for decades) been any sort of success in reducing unemployment, creating (not saving) new jobs, etc.? When a State’s citizens stands up to an actively opposes lax Federal government laws (remember, ‘an unjust law is no law!’) failed policies and laws, do they deserve the fully fury of the Federal government (the KEY word in ‘illigal alien’ is ‘ILLEGAL’ - sugar coat it as ‘undocumented aliens - it is what it is). I for one American citizen, can no longer support a President who can’t fulfill his promises and duties - and I take it I’m not alone after reviewing Obama’s current approval ratings. Now, if we could just get through to him and other government officials with something short of civil rebellion.
