Gov. Strickland in Dayton Friday for “job-creation” awards; Fisher in Cleveland

Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland and Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher - both on the ballot on Nov. 2 - will join forces in their official capacities on Friday, July 30 to announce “economic development awards aimed at spurring job creation.”

Strickland will do his announcing at 2 p.m. at the University of Dayton Research Institute, said a press release on Thursday.

At the same time, Fisher will be at the Dunham Tavern Museum in Cleveland, Fisher’s home base.

Other Strickland administration officials will make announcements at four other sites across the state in Circleville, Canton, Marietta and Struthers.

Jobs is a top issue in both Strickland’s re-election campaign against Republican John Kasich, the former Columbus-area U.S. House member, and in Fisher’s U.S. Senate race against Republican Rob Portman, the former Cincinnati-area U.S. House member and trade representative and budget director for President George W. Bush.

Kasich and Portman have blamed Strickland and Fisher for the 379,700 jobs the state has lost since the Democrats took office in 2007.

Strickland and Fisher, meanwhile, blame Bush and Republicans who controlled Congress for the state’s slide and say they have put in place policies to reverse the trend.

I heard on the radio this morning that the job outlook is not good. The wasted stimulus $ on projects that can’t sustain themselves in conjunction w/gov’t picking & choosing which companies will succeed and which ones will fail has put our nation in further debt and makes us more vulnerable to a double dip recession. Good work, Strickland! Maybe after Obama kills all opposing media he can convince us we’re doing better. Maybe we’re too smart for this crooked communist radical administration. I don’t think it will work. Strickland will be voted out next election. That’s the only good news I have right now.

Jeff, Jeff, Jeff… do you really think that Strickland / Fisher are part of some kind of job creation “CELEBRATION”. If you had read the article thoroughly, you would have noticed the phrase, “awards aimed at spurring job creation”. No job creation for Strickland/Fisher … just more Tarp money spent on ridiculous projects like refurbishing rest stops and buying votes for Novemeber. This is exactly why the people of Ohio will boot him and his cronies out in November.

But haven’t you heard, from the endless barrage of anti-Strickland ads that local stations play on a continuous loop…Strickland hasn’t done anything..anything at all. And if you don’t think so, they’ll drill it into your head 50X a day, every commercial break!

When is Strickland going to make a trip to Grand Lake St. Marys to see the mess we are in. We need help and he is no where to be found. I would love for him to smell what we smell when we walk out our front door.

And the award for most newly created unemployment clerks goes to…. The State of Ohio! “Wow, didn’t see that one coming, Ted.” “No, Jan, with all those stimulus jobs, I thought the big winners would be the “Putting America back to Work” sign company.”
