$500 to $2,000 for lunch with Obama

Want to have lunch with President Obama in Columbus? It’ll cost you a $500 donation to Gov. Ted Strickland’s re-election campaign. If you want “priority seating,” tickets are $2,000.

Obama is expected to appear at the luncheon fund-raiser Wednesday, Aug. 18, and give a speech in Columbus as well. Details on the speech have yet to be released.

The luncheon will be at the Columbus Athenaeum, the same hall where Hillary Rodham Clinton celebrated her Ohio primary victory over Obama in 2008.

Strickland, who has more than $9 million in his campaign war chest, is running against former Congressman John Kasich.

Shortly after 9/11 W. Bush was on the golf course playing 18 holes so those complaining about Obama about holding a fundraiser can put their heads up their rears.

Fact: George Bush, in the midst of two wars, held fundraiser luncheons far more expensive than this one. And John Kasich held a $10,000 a person fundraiser last year in Lake County. So there’s no point in attacking Strickland — it just proves yu’re a partisan hypocrite. It’s mostly FAR more expensive to go the GOP fundraising events. And until we get serious about campaign finance reform, this is one area where we can truly say “Both sides do it.” They HAVE to. No one — including Strickland — is going to unilaterally disarm.

Can you imagine the media outcry in the worst economic conditions of the past 80 years and in the midst of an economy in a scary downward spiral if George Bush would have a lunch for a minimum of $500/plate. Hussein, the racist, lying socialist does exactly this, his wife flaunts an extravagent vacation to Spain and not a word of outrage from the national media or the DDN. November can’t get here soon enough

Wouldn’t it be great if no one showed up? But there are always those Rich Democrats who want to flaunt their assets. I hope they get to flaunt them right out of office in November. How many days to go?

Amazed there are not more comments. Gregg is right on. But if voters don’t care and don’t vote out incumbents, we can’t change anything. “change” you can count on, this behavior is an insult to anyone who believed that baloney. It is sad when topics like a menu( Dominics) generate more comments than a big example of money politics. I hope a lot of voters picket this money grab.

0bama today -“Ramadan is a celebration of a faith known for great diversity and racial equality … a reminder that Islam has always been part of America and that American Muslims have made extraordinary contributions to our country.” Other than mass murder name one.

Ah, The elite hobnobbing with the elite once more. The average American “riff-raff” will be kept back many blocks away in cordoned off “free speech zones” Free speech is not really free speech if it is not permitted in the presence of the one to whom the speech is intended. It’s not free speech if segregated “zones” are established for the exercise of free speech. This phenomena is becoming ever more prevalent. The average America cannot afford the high stakes dinners our politicos have for themselves. Average folks are excluded and the oligarchy like it that way.

I guess for some using money as toilet paper or to light their cigars isn’t quite wasteful enough? I’d be willing to pay that to NOT have to eat with him.

Okay, he’s ‘expected’ to ‘make an appearrance’? So, does that mean if he decides not to show, it’s cool then, right? WOW! Can’t wait for O or Strickland to be goneeeeee!

To the people below - it’s called fundraising. Expect more of the same across the country until November. Lunch sounds pretty harmless to me. Get over it.

Ok, I’ll be the first to ask the obvious……with all the handouts proposed and given out by Obama, doesn’t he OWE US a dinner that we’re already paying for? And, isn’t it interesting Strickland has more black ink in his war chest than the state he is supposed to be governing has to pay its bills? Ok, I said they were obvious questions…..
