Rasmussen Reports: Portman expands lead over Fisher in U.S. Senate race

Republican Rob Portman leads Democrat Lee Fisher, 45-37 percent, among likely voters in the Ohio U.S. Senate race in a Rasmussen Reports poll released on Tuesday, Aug. 17.

With this survey, Rasmussen Reports shifted the Ohio Senate race from “Toss-Up” to “Leans Republican.”

In all surveys conducted this year, Portman’s support has stayed in the range of 42 to 45 percent. Fisher’s 37 percent showing is his lowest level of support since regular tracking of the race started in February.

In a poll conducted Aug. 2, Portman led 44-40 percent.

Portman is a former Cincinnati-area U.S. House member who served as budget director and U.S. trade representative under President George W. Bush. Fisher is the Ohio lieutenant governor.

The new poll was conducted Monday, Aug. 16, with 750 likely voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

ANYONE WITH A 97% APPROVAL RATING FROM THE US CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AS PORTMAN DOES IS WAY TOO CONSERVATIVE TO HOLD PUBLIC OFFICE. WHEN THE FASCISTS SAY “HE IS ALMOST LIKE US” WE SHOULD TAKE THEM AT THEIR WORD FOR IT.

Are you allowed to campaign in the message area? Fisher is a fairly personal guy. I’ve not minded him as Lt. Governor. (What exactly does a Lt. Governor DO, anyway?) But I don’t want him for a Senator. Things were better when our Legislators chose the Senators, weren’t they? The 17th Amendment makes us more of a Democracy than we should be. But, be that as it may, we the people of Ohio get to choose our Senators. Either way, I’ll be glad to be rid of “Cryin’ George”. Portman has better qualifications, from what I’ve seen. Trying to tag those numbers to him is a falsification, because Portman wasn’t on that federal cabinet position until May of 2005. Yet another reason that Fisher is trailing in the polls: his supporters lie. Stop lying, Fisher people. You’re giving a good man a bad name by lying on his behalf.

By greatly concerned The last thing Ohio needs is Portman supporting the outsourcing of more Ohio jobs. Please, vote Lee Fisher. We need the jobs here in Ohio, not where Bush/Portman sent over 2.3 million of them from 2000-2006. What we don’t need is another hack like Fisher in D.C.. The Job Czar for Ohio hasn’t done squat for the State.
