Strickland rips Kasich for OSU gig

Democrat Ted Strickland ripped into his political opponent, Republican John Kasich, and Ohio State University on Wednesday, Aug. 18, for striking a deal that paid Kasich $50,000 a year and an aide $20,000 a year over seven years to make guest lectures and interact with students.

Strickland called it appalling and selfish, particularly since Kasich has advocated that universities cut costs and expect more out of teachers.

The annual payments worked out to about $4,000 per day spent on campus, according to a schedule provided by OSU.

“It says to me that John Kasich thinks he is a very special person, that the rules that apply to everyone else don’t apply to him. He ought to be ashamed of himself,” the governor said.

The Kasich campaign said Ohio State paid Kasich what the university officials thought he was worth and continued to ask him back. OSU officials said they received nothing but positive feedback on Kasich’s guest lectures and campus activities.

Strickland said Ohio State is culpable for the arrangement as well and he questioned why an aide was paid to assist Kasich with his campus duties.

“If he only showed up four days a month, what did the campus aide do? Look for a parking place?” Strickland said.

Kasich resigned as a presidential fellow at OSU in May 2009 when he announced his candidacy for governor.

Additional FACTS that TRS fails to mention in regard to Strickland versus Kasich in regard to child molesters and those who harbor them: John Kasich was easily manipulated by and chose to cower down to his deceivers and did NOTHING about the serious crimes that those school and church administrators and some teachers, staff, and parents committed against the children and consumers. However, the very day after those school and church administrators got caught, Mr. Strickland immediately worked to put a stop to such dangerous hypocrisy as described in the Columbus Dispatch newspaper story: Strickland seeks reform of teacher discipline system. That story is at the link below: http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/localnews/stories/2007/10/18/GUVTEACH.ARTART10-18-07A1_KE87B6D.html

More disturbing facts about Worthington Christian Schools follow: Dwayne Smith, the admitted and confirmed (by FCCS) child molester, graduated from WCS in 1987. Mike Reed, the convicted gunpoint rapist, graduated from WCS the very next year in 1988. Jason Crary, the convicted child molester, graduated from WCS the very next year in 1989. Bill Williams taught and/or coached all three of these sex offenders, later became the WCS Superintendent, and was himself accused of child molestation several times and claims that it was merely an “inappropriate emotional attachment” with the student. All four of these men were given jobs at WCS/GBC in close contact with thousands of children over the years. Therefore, these facts must also be considered while investigating the crimes committed by the WCS/GBC administrators and their SZD attorney.

TRS is WAY OFF about Worthington Christian: Dwayne Smith repeatedly molested a 13-year-old student of his in 1996 and the Franklin County Children Services (FCCS) findings were that Smith’s “sexual misconduct was substantiated”. The Worthington Chief of Police wrote that “The Worthington Division of Police was not contacted by Children Services nor did they respond to us about the incident when we sent a letter asking for additional information.”. The WCS administrators rehired Smith, an admitted and confirmed (by FCCS) repeat child molester, in 1999. Several years after Smith’s supposed “confession, counseling, forgiveness, accountability, and eventually restoration”, Smith blamed his 13-year-old victim for those molestations by saying: “She had been coming on to me for a while”. The WCS/GBC administrators deliberately kept these crucial facts from the parents. Jason Crary repeatedly molested a 16-year-old student of his in the late 1990’s while teaching and coaching at Heritage Christian Schools (HCS) in Wisconsin. The Superintendent of HCS called and warned the WCS/GBC administrators about Crary in 2002. Less than one week after the WCS/GBC administrators got caught on October 17, 2007 in regard to Smith, Crary was arrested at WCS High School on October 23, 2007 and was later convicted and went to prison for those child molestations. It was learned that Crary had repeatedly molested his victim while occasionally drugging her with Aleve and red wine. Bill Williams, the WCS Superintendent, had also been accused several times of molesting at least one student and he claims that it was merely an “inappropriate emotional attachment” with the student. Information about sexual misconduct by other WCS teachers and GBC staff exists but that information has not been made public yet and, therefore, will not be presented here to prevent any possible claims of libel. Kasich represented my home district when he was in Congress. We can sure do without him as Governor. He only represents those with money and the special interest groups. Definitely not good for the working wage earner. Always opposed to any increase in the minimum wage, or anything that would benefit working families. I hope the electorate is smarter than that.

Is Dr. Michael Pryce, an independent candidate for U.S Senate from Ohio, your cup of tea? Another portrait in my series on Ohio minority parties and independent candidates COLUMBUS, Ohio — With Election Day just around the corner, candidates representing mainstream and minority parties are busy as bees, making campaign stops, raising money and generally pressing the flesh whenever and where ever they can. With political pundits and professional pollsters prognosticating every day on who’s up and who’s down, the fog from American-style political campaigns often leaves voters, sometimes by design it seems, dazed and confused about which candidate from which party is saying what on any issue on any particular day. Independent candidate for U.S. Senate from Ohio, Dr. Michael Pryce, is on call for November One new candidate, who wasn’t on any Ohio primary ballot in May but who will be on the General Election ballot on November 2nd, is brewing his own batch of tea that some voters may find to hot to handle while others may think it’s just what the doctor ordered. That candidate, Dr. Michael Pryce, an independent running to fill the seat being vacated at the end of this year by Ohio’s retiring senior senator George V. Voinovich, is up against overwhelming political fire power from Republican Rob Portman and Democrat Lee Fisher, neither of which are doctors, but who each have their own prescription for what ails the nation - and a campaign war chest to drive their points home. For Pryce, an orthopedic surgeon of 28 years based in Kent, Ohio, who is a former U.S. Navy Naval Intelligence officer and who, coincidentally, has written a book, Anathema! America’s War on Medicine, in which he “offers a cure for what ails America’s healthcare system,” hot-button issues like healthcare reform, high taxes and spending, and unemployment are among the ones that prompted him to enter the crucible of electoral politics that Americans simultaneously love and hate. Contacted recently by the Pryce campaign for some coverage, as part of my new-media journalism service to shine a light on political candidates and parties the mainstream media chooses to ignore, because it doesn’t think an untested snowball entering the heat of Hell can survive let alone win, and therefore isn’t worth any column inches, I bring you Mr. Pryce’s unedited and unvarnished answers on a dozen questions posed to him. Q1: You say “we cannot continue to leave the working man out in the cold while CEOs run away with millions in tax payer dollars.” The working man has done best when he/she is represented by a strong, ethical union. Are you for or against unions in general and the Card Check proposal specifically? A: “For 40 years, when the capital gains cut and the investment tax credit were in place, Treasury Dept. studies showed that 90% of the wealth earned went to the working man. Since 2000, CEO pay went from 41 times the lowest paid salary in a company to 510 times and working people stagnated. When major industry exited with NAFTA and CAFTA the unions were weakened as their companies closed. I believe in the free market, but CEOs are not the only people who should benefit. I have no problem with Unions as long as the benefits go to the working man and not the union leaders. My proposal would be for a mathematical formula that would include wealth of the company, CEO and executive pay, worker payroll such that if a CEO is going to take a large bonus, he/she would have to match that to a certain percentage of the worker’s yearly salary. That way, working people get their rightful share without the need for strikes. That year-end check would be the stimulus for the economy. I believe Card Check violates the right to a secret ballot and under my plan would be unnecessary.” Q2: You say ”We need to sever the cord between CEO’s and politicians.” Are you for eliminating “corporate welfare,” the granting of certain tax breaks – like tax expenditure – to companies who should fend for themselves in the free marketplace? A: “I believe wholeheartedly in the free market. I want to see this country eliminate all taxes on businesses through the use of a consumption tax and eliminate the punitive progressive tax system. Alan Greenspan testified before Congress that $11 trillion would come back into this country “overnight.” Our companies could lower the prices of our products so they can compete with the rest of the world. Every company that either outsourced their products or simply left the USA would come flying back. Foreign nations could not wait to reinvest in America. The recession would be over in a flash. The free market would rule and our government would not suffer loss of revenue. Tax cheaters would be subject to the cash register solution. A huge expensive bureaucracy, the IRS, would be eliminated. There would be no need for “corporate welfare.” Q3: What prompted you to make this run for the U.S. Senate? A: “It was a multi factorial decision. I am the only candidate anywhere in the country House or Senate that has published a book about health care. I have been on national TV and radio and people would e-mail for me to be in Washington – NOW! Once I saw that Congress and Obama were going to push a terrible health care plan through with non-parliamentary procedures against the peoples’ wishes, I decided to join the fight. The failure of both parties to solve problems and the nationwide malaise over our government’s performance led me to believe that a Conservative Independent could actually win this election.” Q4. How do you intend to deliver your message to Ohio voters, and how do you intend to pay for that distribution? A: “The word about my candidacy is spreading quickly. My campaign was severely handicapped by the Secretary of State when the certification of my petitions was held to the very last second to limit my ability to raise funds and do any campaigning. This Senate seat belongs to the people of the State of Ohio, not to the political parties. Once the voters have heard how the traditional parties, that feel the seat belongs to them, have tried to minimize me, they have become angry and the word is spreading. The voice of Freedom rings loud in this country and this state. We have 2 ½ months to make our voice heard. At last count 63% of this state’s voters consider themselves Independent. Once they learn they have another choice who is not a career politician, the support will flow and the votes will be there.” Q5. Your positions are close if not identical to those promoted by Republicans. Where do you differ with Rob Portman on any issue? A: “I sat on the Republican Executive Committee in Summit County for over 20 years. I did not lose my conservative values when I left. The difference between me and Mr. Portman is that he received several million dollars from fundraisers outside the State of Ohio headed by George H W Bush. His loyalties are first to those high paid lobbyists, a tasteless concept to most voters. If the Republicans had done what they promised; smaller gov’t, lower taxes not just for the rich there would be no need for Independent candidates. Nothing changes in the major parties. I am here to help accomplish that forgotten mission without a party boss threatening me to vote the way the party dictates. The people of Ohio are my boss. Mr. Portman is George Bush in Rob Portman’s clothes. I would not want Bush tattooed to my back in this election season in this state. Portman is a BIG government Republican and his jobs proposal mandates another entire government bureaucracy to manage it. With my plan for jobs and health care it would eliminate huge government bureaucracies; IRS, Medicare, Medicaid making government smaller, as we were promised time and time again.” Q6. As a doctor, how do you explain the fact that the U.S. is the only advanced industrial nation in the world that allows the health care system to be controlled by private sector, share-holder driven companies? Are we right and every other country wrong or visa versa? (added by Pryce: “I love this question!”) A: “In 1970 the USA ranked #1 in the world in every category with total and complete care and it only cost $356 per person per year. It was a private system. 40 years later, we are ranked 37th in the WHO rankings with a price tag of over $8000 per person per year. I am the only candidate anywhere who has written a book on the subject; Anathema! America’s War on Medicine.” It shows how corporate greed on the private side and politburo-style government power hunger on the public side destroyed the best health care system in the world. I present a universal plan, privately run, returning the control of health care to physicians, a realistic reform of liability and a price tag of $100 a month per person for all 300 million Americans allowing us to put health care behind us forever without the poorly designed Obama Care plan ruining it for good.” Q7. Would you vote to destroy Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security as we know them in favor of systems based on vouchers, or would you “mend them, not end them?” A: “The first step in any cost cutting measure is to obtain the largest actuarial table possible to spread the risk. Any health care plan that maintains the entitlements cuts into that plan and necessarily keeps those costs too high. The only thing the gov’t would have to do under my plan would be to collect enough taxes to pay the premiums on the policies for the entitlements eliminating the huge budget burden of the health care costs and the bureaucracy in addition to giving the people total care without denials. After less than 2 decades, my plan could in effect eliminate any costs from the elderly at all. You have to read the book to grasp the full concept because a short answer cannot fully explain this question. Social Security should be changed. Obama just remarked if the public relied on the Stock Market their retirement would be gone. Diversification of investment protects all investors and since the inception of the stock market, the trend has always been steadily upward. Once Johnson and Nixon broke into the trust fund, SS has been a poor program as recognized by the number of seniors living in poverty in the richest country in the world. One thing we all can count on recession or not, our government will steal our retirement to fund their spending addiction.” Q8. Has BP been treated harshly or molly coddled? A: “One thing I did notice is that everything was working well until Obama flip flopped on offshore drilling, exposing BP to diminishing profits as the supply of oil would increase. Then the world watched as 32 days went by before anything was done and any response from the White House. Once there was a catastrophe, Obama predictably retracted the offshore drilling just as if that was the excuse he was looking for. Knowing the British Gov’t gets half of their income from BP and they stood to lose big money, the entire thing begins to stink. Do I suspect foul play for big money? YES! Can I prove it? NO!!! But where there is smoke there is usually fire. After watching the trade with Libya for the bomber that blew up Flight 103 over Scotland (that almost killed me) in exchange for a lucrative oil contract would I put it past BP? Not on your life!” Q9. Are “green jobs” a reality or a myth? A: “Jobs that support the environment are not a myth. As I fly my vintage aircraft over Ohio and I see all the roofs covered with asphalt shingles instead of photo-voltaic cells, it is senseless not to seek free energy. Do I believe we can make a dent in the Carbon number; who knows? When we are provided free energy from the sun it just makes sense to do it. If anyone thinks this country can return to greatness based on green jobs alone, they are sadly mistaken. This country needs a re-industrialization to regain the lost companies that made things like steel, tires, cars and trucks. If we were faced with a similar threat like we had with WWII, we would struggle to protect ourselves. It is a national Security measure and making windmills alone will not protect this republic.” Q10. Which candidate – Lee Fisher or Rob Portman will best serve Ohio? A: “Running for the same office that I aspire to, I must say neither. Ohio needs a change. Lee Fisher is strangled by the Democratic failure of the Obama Administration and he would have to abandon his principles of bigger government, higher taxes, abolition of the 2nd Amendment just to get elected. Portman has the terrible burden of NAFTA and CAFTA that put many workers out of work permanently in Ohio. His Blue Book for small business is a joke considering he helped put most of our small businesses under strain or out of business. He is plagued by being the leader of the reckless Bush Economy that caused the recession. The people of Ohio are sick of misrepresentation and career politicians. Once again, with these two men, it is the lesser of two evils and they both have proven poor records of political incompetence and poor leadership skills.” Q11. Which candidate for governor – Ted Strickland or John Kasich – should lead Ohio forward? A: “Kasich has the reputation smeared on him by his stint in Congress during the Bush Administrations of ruining this economy. Strickland lost 400,000 jobs under his Administration. It is like asking would you rather swallow arsenic or cyanide. Of the two, I thought John Kasich would be a good governor until I saw that he was tied up with the Lehman Brothers fiasco just like Portman was, I have grave questions about his intentions. The stench of pay for play hangs over them both. I wanted no part of Strickland, but I must admit, he has tried, but he has not produced. Once again, it is career politicians and it is the lesser of two evils.” Q12. If the national deficit is a real concern – some say it is and some say it isn’t – can America really afford to wage wars that last a decade and cost trillions in lives and treasure? A: “In 1965 with a draft number of 264 and a war going on, I enlisted in the US Navy to serve my country and to my knowledge, I am the only veteran in this race. This foreign policy has been going on for my entire life. As I lived my adult life and watched my country expend trillions of dollars, millions of human lives, and untoward numbers of resources to defeat a Socialist tyrannical Soviet government while it went bankrupt fighting a war in Afghanistan, I have great question when I see the parallels of that failure in my own country as it runs headlong to try to institute that same style of government and irresponsible spending while fighting that same war in Afghanistan. The real cost here is in loss of respect for this nation as the only way we seem to be able to make our way in the world is to invade sovereign nations with our military. I recently watched a video in which George W. Bush stated: “The best way to stimulate an economy is to start a war.” That kind of reckless thinking sickens me that someone would injure and kill good American boys and girls on such a flippant premise so rich people can reap treasure when no WWII-like threat ever existed. That is when I began to separate myself from the Republican Party. If we do not stop the spending, we can never cut taxes and we can never regain our lost strength that was forfeited at the hands of both of our very incompetent political parties. The answer is NO we cannot afford it any longer.”

I’m tired of both the Republicans and Democrats. Both parties and their candidates stretch the truth in order to retain or retake power. Career politicians are a big part of what’s wrong with this country and the decline of America because all they are interested in is the power, not bettering the country for everyone.

Strickland sounds as foolish saying stuff about Kasich speaking engagments as he did singing for King James to stay in Cleveland. I have more on education policies here: http://overmanwarrior.wordpress.com/2010/08/17/education-funding-and-institutional-delusion/ I am furious with Strickland for cutting school funding to affluent school districts. Such re-distribution of wealth is not to be tolerated.

This is just more of the mud slinging that has marked Strickland since day one of his so called campaign. I am one who gets turned off when a campaign uses mudslinging as a tactic. But I guess when you haven’t accomplished anything to brag about in 3 1/2 years, you have to sling mud. So what if john Kasich has received money for being guest lecturer at OSU. I bet he got more when he was on private lecture tour. Why does Strickland think being successful is a crime? He blames Kasich for the collaspe of Leyhman Bros when he was only the lead man of a two man office in Columbus. Wake up Ohio, it’s time for change in Ohio. Out with Ted the tax and spend failure and in with someone who at least has a plan. Wait! Strickland’s plan is to sling mud and get reelected so he can spend more of our hard earned money.

As I understand it Worthington Christian hired a teacher (referred to as Dwayne) who confessed to the sin of being a sex offender prior to being employed at WCS. He was extensively counseled and at a later time hired by WCS as having earned a chance at redeption. The staff was conflicted between giving him this 2nd chance but his actions gave them reasons to believe he was no longer a threat. Ultimately he resigned because of the publicity but to everyone’s knowledge had not offended again. In hindsight they admit to an error in judgment, have since implemented strong background checks and passed the muster with an independent law firm as well as the dean of Central State University. No charges were ever filed against anyone. The issue was well publicized in Columbus as was its resolution, which apparently met the satisfaction of most people including Kasich. Its my understanding WCS is a very highly rated school and enrollment even rose after this incident. Ohio Voter apparently is trying to make this into a political issue regarding Kasich’s judgment and in essence accusing him of being a bad parent. I doubt Kasich or any parent would continue to put their child at risk if they felt the issue was not resolved and have accepted the explantion as a error in judgment from those involved. I doubt if Strickland would touch this with a 10’ pole because as a minister himself he would have to attack Kasich for accepting the apology of the school and believing the issue has been properly addressed and claim Kasich is a bad parent as Ohio Voter insinuates, which won’t play to well to any voter. I assume Ohio Voter is plastering over all paper’s blog sites. Sadly it only reflects their bitterness

Ted needs to ask John Kasich the following question during the televised debates in Columbus on September 14 and in Toledo on October 7: John, as those who you continue to pay and entrust your own children with were secretly recorded saying, do you too believe “before God” that it is “the right thing” to deliberately put thousands of children at “risk” with several repeat child molesters lead into temptation to molest again while deceiving and defrauding the parents about it? That question is in regard to the administrators at the private “Christian” school (where John continues to send his own daughters to) and the affiliated church who were secretly recorded saying the following about one of the school’s child molesting Teachers/Coaches (and Youth Directors for elementary-aged children) as reported by the Columbus Dispatch newspaper: “We understand that if something happens between Dwayne and a student, we will be big-time liable,” executive pastor Jim Augspurger said on the recording. “That’s a risk we take. I think before God we did the right thing and it may not be the worldly, may not even be the most prudent thing, but it is something we have done,” he said. “We’ve wiped the slate clean. I understand the situation it puts us in.” After those administrators got caught by the Columbus Dispatch, one of those who participated in that 10-year Conspiracy of Criminal Negligence, Deception, Fraud, and Cover-Ups against we parents (including John Kasich) publicly stated the following (as also recorded): “I was a Lead Pastor here for eight years and a Director Of Junior High Youth Ministries in the past. This is a Watergate. The church covered it up. I was in the meetings. I’ve known all these years that it was a student. And I was told to get back to wiping noses and not to let it out.” John Kasich remains silent and refuses to do anything about those serious crimes. John actually continues to send his very own daughters to that private school where those administrators remain in power, remain as a serious threat to unsuspecting consumers, and remain as horrible examples to all students (including John’s daughters Emma and Reese) on how to treat your business customers and your fellow man. The truth is that John Kasich clearly does NOT have the courage, integrity, leadership abilities, or the common sense needed to be a suitable Governor for Ohio. Please refer to the irrefutable and overwhelming evidence at http://NotKasich.com and http://ABCsOfBetrayal.com Please bring these crucial facts about John Kasich and his extremely poor judgments to the attention of Ohio voters.

Taxen ted Strickland is the governor. He’s cried the blues many times - ad nauseum - about the lack of funding for higher education and becomes the lead crier and handringer about looming future cuts that will effect higher education. Now we find out that his opponet is doing well courtesy of the largest state university Ted’s gang is supposed to be overseeing. Doesn’t sound to me like Ted’s gang is very effective with my education dollar nor do they appear to be a good watchdog of tax payer funds. One thing you always get from Strickland - LIP SERVICE

Karon, as has been pointed out ad nauseum, trains will COST Ohio taxpayers MILLIONS to operate. There is simply not enough people who will ride a 38mph train to the points of dropoff every day. It has been pointed out time and time again that the trains would require 50,000 riders every day to make it break even. At a cost of $78/roundtrip to Cincinnati, with a final train leaving at 4pm, and additionals like cab fair, bus fair, possible overnight costs if the train is missed makes a normal trip to cinci cost over $100/pp. right now, the cost to drive that distance is about 5 gallons of gas, or 15 bucks. Gas would have to go up to $20/ga to make it the same cost as taking a train for one person. It is just a waste of money to build a train no one will ride and the taxpayers will be on the hook for.

But a talking point only libbie, who cant think for themselves, will keep saying it, no matter how stupid it is. Maybe another non-thinking liberal zombie might believe it. As far as OSU pay, if a potential employer offered you a certain amount of money to work for them and they pay you that amount, who is to blame for the pay, you or the employer? Blaming Kasich for what OSU voluntarily paid him is another ridiculas argument. But, when you have a record like Strickland, and a liberal minded media, this is the stupidity you get. I doubt Ted Strickland is going to be wasteful with taxpayer’s money when he has paid $9,166 for his medical expenses because he refuses to take publicly-funded health insurance that is not available to his constituents. If you don’t believe me, read the article from August 1st written by this same author. She mentions in it there, in addition to the millions of dollars Kasich made ripping off middle class Americans at Lehman Brothers. there appears to be enough stupid people who are eligible to vote, however, that this crook might now be elected Governor after royally screwing us on Wall St.

As an alum of OSU, I think the university wasted their money by paying Kasich. Kasich is a pompous, braggart. Now we find out his aide got paid too!!!! If Kasich gets elected, he’ll be running for President in 2012, and then we’ll be stuck with Mary Taylor who’d rather work from home.

Strickland is getting more pathetic everyday. He uses taxpayer’s money to try to shore up his base-unions and welfare recipients and tries to convince Ohioians that Kasich has done something wrong. What a coward!!!!!!!

Ted - you ought to be ashamed of yourself with the awful job you’ve done running Ohio for four years. You’re an idiot - and your supporters are idiots as well. BTW - BHO is as idiot as well.

Is anyone questioning Strickland on the cost to taxpayers for his use of Ohio’s aircraft and fleet of cars, not to mention staff and aids to go on the campaign trail? He claims his travels are job related but 95% of these trips are campaign related yet we get stuck with the bills.
