Obama to discuss economy in Cleveland-area on Wednesday
President Barack Obama will speak on the economy at Cuyahoga Community College’s west campus in Parma, a Cleveland suburb, on Wednesday, the White House announced on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
The event is for invited guests only. It will be Obama’s 10th visit to Ohio since taking office and comes with Obama trying to rally support for fellow Democrats in the Nov. 2 mid-term election.
Gov. Ted Strickland and Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher will join Obama, the governor’s office said.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, who is not on the ballot this year, also will join Obama, a press release said.
According to published reports, Obama is expected to discuss asking Congress to permanently extend the research and development tax credit.
His Cleveland-area appearance comes after a Labor Day speech in Milwaukee in which the president called on Congress to approve major improvements to roads, rail lines and runways and create a government-run bank to finance transportation projects.

Liberty, you are so hallow. Please get the facts right. Obama inherited the Reublicans failed economy policy from the past administration, its because of them, this country is where it is today. I thank god everyday, that we Americans re-elected a Democrate again. Dem are for the people & especially for the middle class My 77 yr old aunt is petrified of a rep getting into office again, unlike me, she is a registered Rep, she has already been told at the office, that her sSI will be cut, along with Medicaid. Please, don’t speak the hate but the facts.

Ranking of past 6 U. S. Presidential administrations by avg. annual % increase in federal debt: Ronald Reagan (1981-1988) +129% overall — 16.1 % avg. annual increase George H. W. Bush (1989-1992) +40% overall — 9.9% avg. annual increase George W. Bush (2001-2008) +73% overall — 9.1% avg. annual increase Richard Nixon/Gerald Ford (1969-1976) +72% overall — 9.0 avg. annual increase Jimmy Carter (1977-1980) +29% overall — 7.2% avg. annual increase Bill Clinton (1993-2000) +29% overall — 3.7% avg. annual increase Now, before you right-wingers start blaming Reagan and GWB’s pitiful performance on a Democratic congress, the Dems held the Senate for only the final two years of both of those administrations. And, just to set the record straight, Obama has increased the federal debt +38% (2010 estimated) — roughly the same as Reagan in 1982-83. Now, let’s argue over how much of this should be added to GWB’s total federal debt additions of of $4.4 trillion. 40yrs of fiscal irresponsible Republicans!!! DO THE MATH PEOPLE, LOOK IT UP YOURSELF AND DON’T TAKE ANYONES WORD!

Some facts on the Stimulus, many people are saying the Stimulus did not do a thing for the economy. They say some how, some way that we would be better off if we never did stimulus. Now lets use some common sense here, that would mean that all the company’s that some how took money would be doing better if they hadn’t taken money..LMAO….It makes no sense any way you put it. Let’s take the car companies. The Republicans would have you believe we would be better off if they failed, taking our last American Manufacturing jobs with it. Jobs Saved in the Car Manufacturing sector Steel- used to make cars……thousands of jobs would have been lost. Plastics- Used in all cars…..many jobs would have been lost Rubber- plants manufacture rubber…..Jobs…..Different company’s make things used in cars …Jobs…..Jobs Glass….The glass manufacturers and the windsheild and window companies…Jobs Light bulbs = Light bulbs for car interior and exterior…..Jobs….Jobs… Leather ..to make seats and car interiors…Jobs…Jobs Cloth…used in car seats…and roof…jobs…jobs 8 Electrical equiptment used in cars…..jobs ….jobs Stero….used in auto’s….jobs….jobs Speakers…..used to deliver sound to stero ….jobs …jobs carpet…for floors of cars….jobs…..jobs 13.Computer’s used in all cars now to control engine and fuel delivery….jobs….jobs Aluminum…used to make wheels……..jobs….jobs 15 Tires….used on all cars…..jobs….jobs 16 Brakes….used on all cars…jobs…jobs\ 17 Engines used in all cars…jobs…jobs Auto parts/ fluids/ spark plugs etc etc etc….JObs…jobs ….jobs 19, Manufacturing plants that assemble cars…jobs…jobs 20 Car dealers ……Sell Cars….Jobs,….jobs Marketing companies….Advertising the cars……jobs….jobs… Is it safe to say that saving the Auto industry saved a few Million Jobs?…..People lets use some common sense here. This is just one part of the stimulus, jobs were saved in every sector of business. Corporate offices and plants for all those company’s mentioned above. The only thing the Dems did wrong is under estimate the Damage the Republicans did on the economy during there 3 Decade…Thats 30 yr reign of running our country. The only time in those 30 yrs when a Republican wasn’t running the country was Bill Clinton…he balanced the budget and left surpluses. Don’t let them play mind games with you, use your common sense. The 2 greateset terror attacks of our time both on Republican watch, the Marine Barracks and 9/11. Don’t be fooled by lies and fear mongering, recovery is coming and it will be slow but we must hold course.

What’s Obama know about the economy and how it works. All he has done is throw billions at labor unions trying to pay them and ACORN back for electing him. Created huge bills to pay like health care for illigals etc. What did Obama and Strickland do to save 15000 jobs in Wilmington? Blame Bush? What Obama did to Dayton and NCR was facillitate them to move to Georgia. In Novemeber a wake call will occur.

If these people in power had to really work everyday , I mean if they had REAL jobs they would be fine with 65 to retire!

@ Laura, Boehner is only the messenger. 70 may be an early retirement in the future. CHANGE also doesn’t always work in your favor. President Obama and Sherod Brown will be on the ballot in 2012.

Obama has spent billions of taxpayer dollars and the economy has nothing to show for it. Sometimes the best solution is to do nothing and let the economy repair itself based on Economic principals that have stood the test of time. Look, it’s not the Government’s job to save us all - Obama is not superman. Sometimes not doing anything is a better solution than continiously doing the wrong things over and over again without ever learning from your mistakes. If democrats can’t get it right then why wouldn’t you consider a Republican for a change? All I know is this “hope and change thing” is not working for me or anyone I know for that matter.

Oh, I almost forgot… If you are from Cleveland, lost your job and voted for Obama (who has never held a REAL job), then no complaining. You get what you deserve. Unemployment, higher taxes, higher utility costs, loss of equity on your home(s), and a sense of guilt that should make you want to set yourself on fire and jump into Lake Erie. Bet most Clevelanders don’t remember how just last year Obama tried to make a point about his “Green” agenda by bringing up the whole Lake Erie catching on fire in 1969. Obama is the worst President in the history of the United States… just like Ben Quayle from AZ. says. According to Obama, the United States is United due to the Unions… what a bunch of hog wash. Have fun cheerleading at Tri-C union leaders and deligates…go “F” yourselves!

Hope everyone in Cleveland is ready to hear the exact same regurgitation that the Great Divider provided to the residents of Milwaukee, Wisconsin the other day. BTW, invited guests consist of union members being paid to NOT go to work Wednesday, but insteact visit Tri-C for the same old, same old tired blame Bush and the Republicans for everything. Wake up Cleveland, get smart and move like I did… better yet, get your passport!

I sit here reading the posts shaking my head in amazement. Posters are lamenting extending the retirement age, GOP opposition to legislation, (which seems to pass anyway). remember Obamacare? Remember the stimulus? Extending tax cuts for the “richest Americans”. Then we have comments on how Obama “has slowed the bleeding.” All without a real clue what they are gnashing their teeth over. Has a good portion of our electorate really lost the meaning of what being “American” is? The posters suggest that government is our salvation, that we just need the right government solutions to bring back prosperity. Would those Americans back in 1776 been lamenting the same things? I doubt it, otherwise we’d be the United Socialist States of America. Yet they passively sit back and allow this government to spend us into oblivion without a word, attacking those who scream for common sense and a stop to this slide towards socialism. We simply can’t give one party control and then vote them back out as easily as one of the posters implied. They cry to repeal the tax cuts for the rich, do they not know who drives the private sector? It certainly isn’t the government, it’s not the poor either. It is those evil “rich” who provide the jobs we desperately need. Don’t like yours or what you earn? Then take responsibility and do what the “rich” have done to make a better life. Yet the posters wealth envy falls right in step with the class warfare the pols put out there to an ignorant citizenry. Obama has stopped the bleeding? How so? If anything, he has prolonged it by policies that injure and scare small business which drives our economy. What small business man or woman is going to invest to grow their business, which means jobs with looming tax hikes and dozens of new regulatory offices in place? The uncertainy is why the private sector is not hiring. Why can’t Obama see that the private sector drives our economy? He does, it just doesn’t fit with the re-distributive promises he made to the uninformed who voted for him thinking they would get their homes and cars paid for. Oh yes, they exist, just Youtube them. A strong private sector is not what the unions want either. He truly is trying to reshape America. So now we the people say “No”. We are called “racists”, “haters”, “evil” “greedy”. We aren’t listening to scare tactics, we are grateful that some in our government are saying, “Wait a minute. How are we paying for this?” We are listening to a people who are saying “enough”. We don’t want the liberal utopia that has been long awaited by many, but not the majority. I don’t want a political party to have an idea how to make me prosperous. That’s been the problem it seems to me. I want my government to get out of my way and allow me my God given rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Those of you that do as evidenced by your posts, I pity you that you have forgotten what we as a people are all about. Vote for your living come November if you must, but be very careful what you are voting and asking for.

Liberty, You may want to do some research because the Republican party is running on fear, replace, and repeal. John Boehner wants to extend the retirement age to 70 and the Republican party wants to extend the tax cuts for the richest Americans. The Republican party has no ideas on how to fix the economy.

Jakie , your absolutely right but you have a few typos slow down. Americans have become blind and very stupid ! Get a majority in and hold them accountable not just the house but the senate. Why say democratics are not doing anything if republicans vote NO most of the time! That is right WAKE UP let them vote their way and get something passed and if it is wrong the american people will take action.

Thanks Dayton Daily News allowing Obama supporters to know that he still cares about Ohio. The Republican Party has failed to pass anything to help out American families while watching constant job loss continue. Under Obama the bleeding at least slowed, now the lazy Americans that are sucking the system dry need to get off their rear-side and contribute like myself.

What this article does not say is that Obama is raising taxes on gas and oil companies to pay for this. All of the costs will be passed to americans right when winter is coming so we will all have higher heating costs. I thought Obama was for the poor and middleclass. This is so political but I’m so happy most americans can see right through Obama. This $50B will not create jobs. If the $900B did’t create jobs how will $50B create jobs. Are people that blinded that they lost all common sense. This is a political move to shore up the liberal’s union base. Everybody knows this will not create a single permanent job and its all about the Nov election. Once the republicians win I will be switching my scrutiny towards the republicians and they had better do the right things.

Glad he could find time in his busy vacation schedule to visit Ohio and talk about how he is ruining America.
