President Obama, first lady and Al Gore coming to Ohio to campaign for Democrats

By Jack Torry Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will hold a fund-raiser Sunday in Cleveland for Gov. Ted Strickland before he and First Lady Michelle Obama appear before a crowd later that day on the Oval at Ohio State University, White House officials said today.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Obama will hold three separate events Sunday — the Strickland fund-raiser in Cleveland, the speech at Ohio State University, and a fund-raiser in Columbus for the Democratic National Committee.

Gates open for the Columbus event at 5 p.m. The program begins at 6:15 p.m at the Oval on OSU’s campus.

Gibbs said the appearance by the president and Mrs. Obama at Ohio State is the first time they have campaigned together since 2008 when Obama won the presidency.

Gibbs said having both attend the Ohio State event is a “good way” to “get a big crowd and have some energy. I think she’s obviously very effective.”

Gibbs told reporters today that the DNC fundraiser is designed to raise “money for the national party that will be used for both their activities as well as helping to fund state activities.’’

In what could be a sign that the White House does not believe that Senate Democratic candidate Lee Fisher can win next month, Obama is not doing any fund-raising specifically for the lieutenant governor’s campaign. Fisher is running behind in the polls to Republican candidate Rob Portman.

Fisher is expected to speak to the Columbus rally on Sunday.

Former Vice President Al Gore, the 2000 Democratic presidential nominee, will do a fundraiser Saturday for Fisher in Columbus. In addition, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., son of the slain former U.S. attorney general, will do a fund-raiser for Fisher today in Columbus.

Al Gore…bbwwaahhahahahaha. Now there’s a celebrity for ya. Notice how the Obamas hit the Universities? They figure us old (er), wrinkled up, middle class folks have figured them (and their agenda) out, so now they’ll try a little indoctrination on the kids/young people. I hope they remember to tell those same young people that they are killing jobs for them, and putting debt on their backs they can never repay. By the way, I was in the grocery store, and I heard an entire row of ppl talking about the election. One was a newly-reformed Democrat, said he’d never been so disgusted at DC in his life. Every one of them said that the Obamas speaking in Ohio, made them sure to vote Kasich for Govenor. Just saying….

WOW…even Al Gore couldn’t win his own state when he ran for president. Maybe they’ll bring Bill Clinton and Larry Flint back again too. Michelle can light a Cigar for all three….about all she’s qualified for. Everyone knows Obama was an empty shirt and now he’s desparately trying to rekiddle his hopey/dopey/change mantra for another loser Strickland. Next he will send the ACORN nuts and New Black Panthers to itimidate voters and pass out crack/weed.

persective… I have to use the word ignorant when people actually believe lies. Ignorant simply means you are uninformed of the facts, and I was wondering how you could have possibly paid less taxes under the repubs when the tax laws were EXACTLY the same. Fox may have told you that you paid less under the repubs, but it is simply not possible unless you cheated on your taxes under the repubs. So wouldnt you now call your statement ignorant?

After reading the comments from the left and the right, one thing is painfully obvious…the Tea Party is truly the Party of those children who were left behind by America’s education system. Anyone ignorant enough to want to return to policies of the Republicans who almost bankrupted America is functioning on a different level of intelligence and reasoning. When are Kasich, Chabot and Portman going to bring in Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney to rally their voters?

I for one cant wait until republicans get back in office. It will be great when we pay corp. more money to send jobs overseas. I cant wait till the middle class is taxed heavier again so the rich can be given tax cuts. I cant wait till unions are destroyed so everyone will make minimum wage. I cant wait till insurance companies can discriminate against people because of preexisting conditions. I cant wait till social security is privitized. Once wall street loses it, we can all rely on govt programs that we didnt pay for, for everything. I cant wait till repubs destroy america for everyone except the top 2%, because then repubs will really have something to cry about.

Wendy, Bush is kicking back and taking it easy because he doesn’t need to, the GOP has it tied up so tight, the dem’s are just spinning with stupidity. The stooges are coming because they want to tour the US for free, before they get booted and loose the free tax money tree. The title of this should have been more like a weather warning “Tax Messiah Alert, please keep you hand on your wallet, and his out of it”. Obamallah is on his way out, so he comes to help Strickland, might as well give it shot, that way they can blame the other for their lose.

Its amazing how the Bush crowd can set flames to a house and then blame the fireman trying to put the fire out. Let’s forget about how the economy was before Obama came into office. You really don’t have solutions except the race to the bottom by outsourcing jobs to china. Polluting the environment with more oil spills. More wars to fuel the military industrial complex that leave us more in debt. When the tea party Palin crowd finally take and kill this country with your supposed common sense (idiocy unchecked). All I will say the samething I said in 2008 and after the Iraq War…I told you so.

hey Tkidding how about learning the truth before you believe everything fox entertainment tells you. Heres the true story..you say..Health care reform. I now pay 28 percent more now that it has been signed into law. I also was told that I have to carry insurance on my kids till they are 26 like it or not. The fact is your premiums will decrease and your employer will have to cover you child until they are age 26(if you are employed, but doubt you are). Next thing you said was,Crack down on credit card companies. I now pay 30ty percent interest. (Thats more than I have ever payed in my life. The truth is you have paid alot more in penalties, fees, etc. Any person who makes their payments will only pay less. And those who struggle to make their payments will pay less. Im sorry if making credit card companies less rich upsets you. you said..Bail out of GM. Now Dayton is a ghost town since GM shut down and moved to Mexico and China. The fact is that this American company paid back every dime ut got from the government plus interest. When the republicans were in office they paid companies through tax breaks to send companies overseas. The republicans are furious that these tax breaks are being revoked by Obama. These are FACTS that you wont hear on fox, because they are true. Got a brain? Look it up for yourself

Having Al Gore in the state is like having alot of hot air blow through. I view him as an air head. I look forward to seeing Portman, Boehner and Kasich either take office or continue. Fisher is anti-gun and I want him gone. I want people in office that will get rid of that control monster healthcare bill. I wonder if Obama will bring in his Acorn affiliates while he is here. I hope they don’t try to lend money out for a pleasure house while they are here if that be the case.

As a long time republican, because my parents were, I looked at some facts and think you should too. On the news recently was the fact that the first paralyzed american is now going to walk because of embryonic stem cell research(which republicans are against), plus my son lost his good paying job because its being sent to china(which republicans are for and encourage), plus Im on social security which republicans want to put in the hands of wall street. If youre gonna vote republican just ask yourself why and if your parents would under the current conditions. The republicans seem to me to only be for big companies and the rich. I wanna see everyone in america have a good, healthy life, a good job, and be able to retire. if youre voting republican because your parents always did then ask yourself what they believed in, and what do you stand for. ,

Gee according to PolitiFact he has only accomplished more than 122 positive things in less than 2 years. A recent survey of Presidential University Scholars only rated him as only the 15 greatest President in American History. Oh don’t forget as John Boehner put it he caused BP to pay ransom money for the oil spill clean-up. On the other hand W Bush at this time in his Presidency went on vacations instead of listening to his security advisors, turned a surplus into a deficit, backed down from China for downing a Navy plane/holding its crew hostage, put us into a recession and planning his war of weapons of non existence. As W would say “is our voters learning?”

Damn shame. Portman has been the epitome of what’s wrong and yet, He will most probably be elected. Change takes patience and perserverance. Those who are hurting seem to have none. So, go ahead and put the party of the corporate interests and those whose campaigns are funded by the international coaltion of big business back in power. I must admit, the Democratic party has run from the truth and have done very little to advance their agenda. So we, the little people will no doubt put these clowns back in office in the insane hope that they will make a difference. We deserve what we get. Sad.
