Kasich leads Strickland by 8 points, Ohio Poll says
With less than three weeks to go before Election Day, Republican John Kasich now leads incumbent Democrat Ted Strickland by eight points in the Ohio governor’s race, according to the Ohio Poll released Friday.
Fifty-one percent of likely voters say they’ll vote for Kasich while 43 percent are behind Strickland, the poll found.
Republican Rob Portman’s lead over Democrat Lee Fisher in the U.S. Senate race opened up further to 22 points, the poll said. Among likely voters, 58 percent say they’re voting for Portman while 36 percent are supporting Fisher.
The Ohio Poll, conducted by the University of Cincinnati Institute for Policy Research, called 705 likely voters on their landlines and cell phones between Oct. 8 and 13. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percent.
The same poll in September showed Strickland trailing Kasich by four points and Fisher behind Portman by 15 points.

Strickland had his chance. So did Democrats—who’ve had Control of Congress since 2007! Over $1 TRILLION debt, second yr. now; 9.6% Unemployment; 17% Underemployment; Health insurance increasing avg. 9%; oh, and..Obama “just realized” there aren’t any “shovel ready” projects….

Taxes are outrageous-health care is rediclious-degrading our country while visiting other countries-ACORN-ARIZONA- 15 OTHER THINGS. Tell me what he did for the Nobel Prize? I beleived in republicans true republicans but the last 8 years and over 20 months how we forget this party has done nothing but run the state of ohio down and this country down it is a fact if you have kept up. As far as Kaisch and Portman you really must either be running scared, very wealthy, or related to these guys. They have NO AGENDA they say the same thing as their party. Create jobs, small government, low taxes. First of all these guys on jobs they say nothing about good paying living jobs. Small government the last administration had just as much of a government as this one.Lowering taxes on who large corporations who shipp jobs acroos seas and nothing for the everyday tax payers. Ohio this state is know as the ignorant voting state because we do not do research on who we vote for we just trust what we hear. I disagree Ohio is going to show no matter what the poll say now that we the people own this country and no money is going to buy this state or country. And we are not stupid to vote for liars who say one thing and then change their tune to get votes we see through this. Both these canidates are for privatizing and messing social security messing with medicare, doing away with the minimum wage, outsourcing and many other state and country demising things just for your vote. I as a woking class have had enough of this type of political views. Ohio has lost too many jobs to put these type of wealthy people in office to get richer. The ohio voter is not stupid they see through people like this that are for large corporation, Insurance Industries to control the people of this country. It is a shame this adminisrtation only has been given 20 months to recover jobs and this economy but we give years to my party I used to support! We really want to see this country fall instead of working together.

WFTA. That’s right, Clinton signed the North American Free Trade Alliance (NAFTA) to attempt to seal the similar deal that the “EURO” did for Europe. Bush opened the door for World Free Trade Agreements (WFTA), that’s what sailed our jobs to foreign countries to seal our doom for secured jobs in the United States. This whole world is run on the money system, realize that BIG BUSINESS runs the world leaders not the Republicans nor Democrats. Vote for whomever the BIG BUSINESSES put out there that THEY control. The most powerful party in the U.S. is Lobbyist. Stop trying to be politically correct when you are wrong with supporting opposing issues instead of uniting and solidifying our country with the best qualified candidate instead of your brainwashed political choosing. We need unity on one direction in the U.S., securing our U.S. families first and foremost. Protect the Constitution of the United States instead of depleting it of value. Keep in mind this freedom of speech is secured by other sections of the constitution. Example: like 2nd Amendment, one cannot protect and defend your 1st Amendment right with rocks and sticks. Come on Americans, think what you are doing when you vote, select the best value for our country, not the value that will destroy our unity. Signed, A very concerned U.S. Citizen

Both Kasich and Portman are useless if anyone has followed these con artist during or before the campain. People apparently have given into their lies, the large corporations they support, insurance companies, taking away a living wage, high insurance rates that will be rising since thaey have you under conrol now, no social security retirement or medcaid for a populus vote to be called a republican. I was a republican until I seen what has happened in the last administration and the last 20 or so months of the republican party in this one. I will not vote and if I had to vote it would be for the people not the large corporations who ship jobs across seas, or non profit insurance companies that went for just profit instead of caring for humanity. Will voters ever wise up to what we call these guys or todays politicians (true republicans or will we continue to sell out America!

We are doomed if Kasich wins…doomed! The guy does not look trustworthy. Strickland is an honest and caring man who has done great things for Ohio. When the Republicans start deiscriminating against gays, deregulating businesses that lead to another mess, and make the rich richer to the detriment of the middle and lower classes, we will be there to bail you out again. And we forgive you ahead of time.

One has to ask how the juvenile court in Lucas County Ohio could have jurisdiction over a child who has lived in Indiana his entire life and has never lived in Lucas County, Ohio. It is my understanding that custody issues must be handled in the state where the child resides. It is my opinion that this child has been endangered by the courts of Indiana and Ohio. Both states have been notified of the alleged arrests for violence and the arrests for drug paraphernalia. It has been alleged that this man uses drugs and refused a drug test in order to visit his son. No one knows if any of this is true because neither state has ordered a best interest hearing for this child. I don’t care if the man is a Sunday school teacher, every child is entitled to a best interest hearing during a custody battle. A child psychologist report was filed in both Ohio and Indiana courts that stated the child would be irreparably harmed if removed from his home. Judges in both courts ignored this report. The child has been endangered by the courts of Ohio as well as Indiana. I asked Governor Strickland on two different occassions to look into this matter. Govenors can pardon convicted murderers but can’t intervene when a 3 year old child is endangered by the very courts that are suppose to protect him.

The Dems have controlled Ohio and the U.S. Congress for four full years and what are the results? If you like what you see now, reelect these incompetents - maybe that “hope” might work out for you, but if you’d like to give someone else a chance to make a difference, it’s time to put some new faces in office. Can’t wait until 2 Nov and 6000 +, like me, have already voted in Clark County.

The hypocrisy of the left is so obvious yet the poster here don’t even seem to realize it. Democrats have always been and still are the party of slavery. Republican have been and still are the party of liberty, individuality - everybody counts as an important individual. In the democrat plantation you are just another servant in their collective.

It is a shame we are so confused that we headed for a path of destruction if Kasich or Portman gets in. These guys have said many times before if anyone has kept up with and their party they are for messing with social security, medicare and now wages, schools and now they deny it. And we are voting for these already wealthy more corrupt party politicians who made the last 8 years and 20 months of almost putting this country completely in hole. And we vote for this what is wrong with this. This race should not even be close people in Ohio are not stupid. We have had no bipartisan on the republican side the Bills in senate and house show the votes if you have kept an eye on this party the last 20 or so months. They come out with same routine we fall for all the time spending, large government. Try doing something for the normal workers not just say it during elections. I hate to say this but what did they spend when they were majority? Their governemnt is just as big at the time they were majority. This does not work anymore if you have kept up on their political ploys and agenda. History will not lie this party is not going to help the day to day worker. So to say this guy is leading is saying this state does not want good jobs but poverty jobs, no security after retirement, no medicare or good wages.

Who will make sure you are not bankrupt because of medical bills. Who will make sure, your kids are safe in school and are not confronted by some psycho carrying gun into school. Vote for a person who will not retort to a lie to wage a war on another country just to settle personal score

Some one said - 9.6% Unemployment so vote GOP. To that, sir, recession is almost everywhere and so is unemployment. Check every other country. Europe, Americas, japan. Lets keep china out, well they are communists, right? So yes, lets leave them out. Now what got us into unemployment mess? No regulation on Wall St. Banks betting on failure of securities so that they could make more and more money. Ever wondered how insurance companies racked up 26% (on an average) more in profits last fiscal year? No, you won’t care and blame obamacare. Get informed, little knowledge is dangerous.

I work for a world wide company that treats me pretty good. They pay me well and my check is always there in the bank when it’s supposed to be.The left always wants to make it us “little folk” against the big evil nasty corporations. Those corporations are part of our economy. If businesses don’t do well no one does well unless you’re a govt. employee. Hey Tea Party people and fiscal conservatives, the Democrats are only ones too reduce the deficits in the last fifty years. Bush was given a 238 billion dollars surplus by President Clinton and in four months May 2001 turned into a trillion $ deficit. With the Bush tax cuts without a vote of Congress. Vote Democrat the Party of Social Security the lowest cost to administor below 10 % while private pension plans run well over 20 % and lose your money. And the most sucessful and popular government program in the history of world. Republicans and Bush tried to privatize it in 2004 and failed. Aren’t the S. S. recipients glad now the Repubs did. Portman wants to privatize Social Securtiy. Kasich lost millions for Ohio pensions while working for bankrupt Wall Street firm Lehmans. Did not get the job done and let those people down. Vote for Democrats, keep your Social Security safe.

Republican should vote early if they can to make sure their votes are counted and in case something were to happen on election day that would keep you away from the polls. We can’t take anything for granted here. I won’t feel relieved until Kasich is voted in and Strickland is voted out. I fear for the path our country is now on, and I believe we might see the end of the Republic. I’m not being a drama queen here. We can’t afford the higher taxes, we can’t afford the hc fiasco bill that I hope is defunded and eventually repealed. We can’t afford any more of our hard earned tax $$ going to foreign countries to make Obama feel better about America’s colonialism! Pray to God and then vote. We can’t allow the end of our republic. Those of you planning to vote republican: Do you really believe you’ll be earning enough to pay the 3% higher restored tax rate? If so, it will be a minimal, negligible increase at that level of earning. Businesses have tons of capital to invest in employees already. Less greedy wealthy individuals support the restored 39% tax rate on the highest earners, which does not even tax their income below 250g. Don’t be fooled. With write-offs, the rich pay less than the middle class and will continue to do so as a percentage of income.

Why would anyone vote republican? Favoring a return to the middle ages, a time when instead of a central government to regulate air, water, and consumer safety standard owners (the top two percent) dictated the rules and paid nothing for work? Bush had us on the way there, and if democrats don’t win, the country will likely end up more in debt as always happens when the gop is the majority.
