Fox News poll: Kasich leads Strickland, 47-43 percent
Republican challenger John Kasich leads Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland, 47-43 percent among likely voters in a new Fox News poll, conducted by Pulse Opinion Research.
The poll, taken Saturday, shows a slight tightening of the race. Kasich was up, 49-43 percent in an Oct. 16 poll.
The poll also found that Strickland and Kasich are about even when it comes to how voters view them.
Strickland was viewed favorably by 44 percent and unfavorably by 47 percent. Kasich was viewed favorably 43 percent and unfavorably by 49 percent.
The poll was taken with 1,000 likely voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Strickland is Obama’s twin. He has the same agenda, forced redistribution of our wealth. We’re tired of hearing him talk about how he feels our pain and knows what we want: Jobs. And then turns around and continues with Obama and his job killing policies. Dems (or socialists/whatever you guys are calling yourselves now) are done for in this election. Strickland took a surplus and turned it into a deficit. One thing he knows how to do is raise taxes. Cap and trade energy bill will put the final nail in our country’s coffin. We need to elect Republicans. We have to stop our country from going off the edge.

Strickland is incapable of doing a good job for Ohioans. He lost over 400,000 jobs, and loss of jobs is the one issue that democrats (or progressives as they are now called) don’t want to touch. They know their job killing policies have doubled our unemployment rates. Strickland also stood behind Brunner encouraging her not to investigate the rampant fraudulent votes last presidential election (over 200,000 of them JUST IN OHIO ALONE!). We can’t trust Strickland. I’m voting for Kasich. Anyone could do a better job for Ohioans than Obama’s twin, Strickland. And if you want the hc bill defunded, you better vote for Kasich.

If Dick Morris did the poll then Strickland has a fighting chance. Whatever Morris predicts the opposite almost always happens.

Its Bizarre that Arizona voters don’t have to show proof of citizenship, considering the hundreds of thousands of Illegals in that State. Just goes to show you,Democrats will do anything to get a vote. They will compromise everything to get one more vote because they know the majority of taxpayers, hard-working Americans are onto them, so Democrats have to continue to find a new minority group, any unsuspecting, unsophisticated groups who will vote for them.

Every day it’s something new. Something else that this administration is doing that is degrading our country. Today, I found out that people aren’t required to show proof citizenship to vote (I saw an article regarding AZ). Everyone knows this will compromise the integrity of our elections system. There’s only one reason why this is being pushed by our govt. They want fraudulent votes to count in this election because they fear they won’t win if they are fair, so stealing votes is their plan now. BTW, the military in two states now aren’t allowed to vote because they didn’t send out the ballots in time. You got it right folks, illegals/dead/Mickey Mouse can vote/military can’t. This is satanic. Show up and vote for the Republican candidate so that we can at least get our state/country going the right direction. Strickland is a crook anyway. He stood behind Brunner in her refusal to investigate 200,000 plus fraudulent votes during the last presidential election (and with ACORN’s help, Obama won). Since DDN has limited their comments pre-election because most Daytonians are voting Republican, I am posting the following here regarding why Obama is an anti-colonialist and why he sends out $$ to foreign countries. I haven’t read Obama’s book, but I’ve heard others talk about what is in it. Both of his parents left him at an early age to fight for socialism (anti-colonialists). He was left with his grandfather who paired him up with some socialist activists. Growing up he surrounded himself with radicals, black hate groups like the panthers, etc. He started his campaign at Bill Ayers (bomber) residence. The people in his cabinet/czars reads like a communist list. One czar wants to sterilize our drinking water supply without our knowledge which would cause forced abortions, etc. to control population growth. Another czar (manufacturing czar) doesn’t believe in our free enterprise system. Obama’s Attorney General Holder refused to prosecute the Black Panthers who were “guarding” a voting booth in Philadelphia PA, dressed in full military garb, boots, and harassing/threatening people standing in line to vote with their sticks (this was caught on video, and I’ve seen it several times). One of those Black Panthers was also caught on video previous to that event commanding followers to “kill all white babies!” Later reports detailed how government officials were told to avoid prosecuting people of color. Obama has continued his father’s tradition of being anti-colonialist. All of his policies seem to lean towards forced redistribution of wealth, especially to foreign countries. Obama believes America is evil, and received her wealth by taking from other less fortunate countries, and so that’s why our tax $$ have been redistributed out of our country. If you wonder where the stimulus $$ went, there it is.

The democrat propaganda is getting old and tired, but some of it is funny. What is amazing is the way the democrats totally lie. Kasich a criminal? Kasich anti-American? Kasich only wants to create jobs overseas? The blatant lies are just too funny.

Max, we haven’t heard from them because: 1. They are lazy/don’t give a darn; and 2. They have no ideas that don’t involve lining their own pockets. Bush II had business experience — running companies into the ground.

@Tiredofit….Much like the Reagan Republicans, the current GOP is different than that with Bush. They learned their lesson with the party disaffected and Independents with the McCain nomination. We really don’t hear much from Bush II and Cheney lately. There’s a reason….LOL

One of the more interesting things about this midterm election - regardless of the levy, issue, or candidate - is voter perception (perceptions, by the way can be shaped, changed, and by their very nature have a trendency to be ‘creative’ to fit our self image). IF there is a common perception Ohio’s economy is in the toilet, and the facts support this, then as we look in the mirror which candidate do we perceive as being represenative of our aspirations? Maintaining the status quo - usually a GOP position - is not acceptable for many who are unemployed or underemployed, facing foreclosure, losing business, or facing more locally levied taxes. Yet, according to the Fox poll 43% favor the status quo which is held by a Democrat incumbent. There are a few things which could be inferred. First, 43% don’t view Ohio’s economy as all that bad, short term, or are employed and want to remain so (state workers, for example). Second, the same numbers are reluctant to assign significant blame for Ohio’s economy on the Strickland-Fisher team. The Fisher-Portman race suggests otherwise in one, albeit, conservative district. Third, with 57% new voters under the age of 30 declaring themselves Democrats, and considering the Independents leaning to the GOP, there is, in effect, a canceling effect explaining Strickland’s 43%. Fourth, the polls only report results from ‘likely voters’ which takes into account lower income people (according to 2008’s figures) who have a voter turnout of 30%. Here is where the pollsters get creative; if they plug in a higher turnout for this group Strickland still lags behind which accounts for the ‘narrowing’ of the margin. It’s not that people are changing their minds or committing, it’s more the pollsters crunching various turnout rates’ predictions…..Anyway, the polls usually have trouble with accuracy during a volatile midterm with so many issues on the ballots. Kasich’s lead is probably more in the area of 8%. This may be of some concern to Kasich in that he would prefer a greater margin to enjoy a victory ‘mandate’ by the voters.

Before Strickland became governor, he campaigned on “bringing jobs to Ohio”. This is what Strickland has actually done: 1) Ohio lost 400,000 JOBS under Strickland 2) Ohio and Dayton lost a Fortune 500 company: NCR We absolutely MUST hold Strickland Accountable. VOTE FOR KASICH.

It is a peculiar thing many criticize Kasich for ‘chasing the money’ when, afterall, isn’t that what we want for ourselves? Isn’t making money, instead of losing or spending that which we don’t have, is what this election is about? Forget the party-line posturing and spin, to keep and maintain what we know doesn’t work - whether it’s a governor or a burned out TV - and expect different performance is a symptom of something else unrelated to politics……Many who support Strickland are also critical of GM’s management, the Wall St. failures, and certainly the mortgage industry. Yet, they are all, including Strickland, failures. When the horse can no longer pull the plow, get a new horse if plowing is to be done. That’s my unsolicited, Independent p.o.v.

Mort, I am glad Kasich quit Congress and went out on his own to make money. It’s the American way and I wish all politicians would quit after 8 years and go into the private sector. The reason we have these problems is because most of these Democrats have never had a job or have never run a business.

Yes, let’s talk about Wall St. This from the Washington Times on Oct 20,2010. “President Obama’s nominee for deputy secretary of state has earned more than $8 million in salary and bonuses since January 2009 as an executive at a Wall Street bank that received a federal bailout. Thomas R. Nides, a six-figure fundraiser for Hillary Rodham Clinton during her 2008 presidential run, disclosed his compensation from Morgan Stanley in a recent filing with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics. Mr. Nides, the company’s chief operating officer, also said he remains eligible for additional bonus money at Morgan Stanley, which repaid its share of the federal bailout last year. As deputy secretary of state for management and resources, Mr. Nides would replace Jacob Lew, who is awaiting confirmation as Mr. Obama’s federal budget chief and whose own nearly $1 million bonus at bailed-out banking giant Citigroup last year came under scrutiny. The powerful position is one of two deputy secretary slots at the State Department, a post described on the department’s website as chief operating officer and “alter ego” to Mrs. Clinton, the secretary of state.”

What I like about Kasich is he won’t block Ohio from standing against the healthcare bill like Strickland and Cordray have done. When you look at the Obama Admin. it is as corrupt and ganglike as any Chicago criminal enterprise. Obama, our President tied in with Acorn, a corrupt organization with money laundering, loaning money to build lady of the evening houses. Real classy Obama! Obama and Soros- Soros and the Tides Foundation funded by Soros, sneaking to hook churches into his snare, Soros against free speech and our gun rights, Soros is communist! Good going Obama! I support Portman for Senate and Boehner for Congress, Kasich for Governor.

Kasich hates Unions but in his Jobs Program Plan, he wants the labor unions to help fund it. JOHN KASICH IS A HYPOCRITE!!! Last paragraph. Kasich has proposed moving home weatherization and other programs not directly related to economic development to other state agencies and having JobsOhio led by 12 business executives with the governor as chairman. Kasich also has said that employees would be entitled to bonuses as a way to attract and reward top talent, but his campaign has disputed suggestions that the bonuses would be “secret.” That notion came from comments Kasich made after announcing his plan last week that “we will not require them to disclose their bonus.” The campaign said that was a joke, noting that Kasich and some reporters laughed after he said it, and that details about pay will be worked out later with the legislature. Cole said that 47 percent of the entire department’s administrative budget comes from federal funds that go to the Community Development Division. He asked how the department would be funded without that money. “If Ohio eliminates from the department the programs with strong federal funding, how do we replace that revenue?” Cole asked. So far, Kasich has been vague about how he would pay for his JobsOhio entity beyond saying it would be with a combination of donations from individuals, businesses, labor unions, foundations and state funds. VOTE STRICKLAND / BROWN!!
