Focus group: Ohio independent voters “unhappy”
With the Nov. 2 election just four days away, Ohio independent voters are “unhappy” with the political system and hold negative views both of Congress and President Barack Obama, according to focus group research released Thursday.
“This unhappiness has the potential to threaten incumbents of both political parties and raise questions about the legitimacy of the political process beyond the outcome of the election,” John Green, director of the Bliss Institute of Applied Politics, said in a press release.
The focus group research stemmed from the latest Akron Buckeye Poll by the Bliss Institute.
The full report may be viewed here.
The research found that independent voters thought the political system had been unresponsive to the public, especially on the economy.
“We’re not being heard,” one participant said.
Another participant said that politicians, like NASCAR drivers, should “wear patches on their suits from their sponsors.”
The Buckeye Poll was conducted by phone in August 2010 with a random sample of 600 Ohio adults. Eight independent voters were chosen from the original sample for a focus group on Oct. 20.
The survey and focus group were conducted by the Center for Marketing and Opinion Research for the Bill Institute.

Do i have to get an auto insurance when i buy a used car? or else, they don’t sell the car to a person who doesn’t have an auto insurance? I currently have a lease car that will be returned this January next year. But i want to get a used car soon so that i can work on the car, but i won’t be driving it around. The car will be in my garage until i return the lease car and get an auto insurance. I live in Philadelphia, PA Any suggestion?

I am planning an eco-friendly baby shower for my sister, and, trying so hard to think of different things to do. Anyway…… I came up with a wishing well where each guest will be asked to bring one organic jar of baby food, but I don’t know how to present it in invitations or at the shower? I searched and searched the internet and could NOT find anything to help, hoping you ladies can!!!!!!

Lot of information about how to get cheap auto insurance? Getting your first car insurance policy may not be a priority but it should be. Car insurance protects one of your first investments, your car. But car insurance can be complicated and often new car insurance shoppers fail to compare car insurance rates and in turn fail to reap the financial benefits of finding the best and affordable car insurance available to them. Information here is great. Love to come back again.

Survey after survey say that not enough Daytonians and Ohioans would use the trains. Its not that Kasich is against them— the numbers don’t support it. Kasich has a better plan for JOBS than Strickland. Strickland is relying on government to find jobs… yeah, good luck with that. VOTE FOR KASICH!

The REPS were over the three houses from 2001 to 2008.When the REPS were in charge of all three houses. They were hand a surplus. When the Dems got control they were handed a busted ecomony.A wall street crash. A housing market crash.Should I go on.The DEMS only hold 58 seats in the SEN.And it take 60 vote to pass or move a bill forward. In the Congress.the DEMS hold 256 seats.and every time they pass a bill with out REP help. Because Rep voted no .That bill was sent to the SEN for final passage vote. BUT sence the DEM only holds 58 seats. And you need 60 vote for final passage. The REP block it there to. I vote for poeple who are willing to work with each other. No matter what your differences are.We all breath the same air in this country.Buy from the same stores. And probably drink the same type of beer.I just can’t vote for a person that Divides this country by parties. By spreeding hate.Spreading fear,Telling lies. And is not willing to work with the other side. For people rights. Right to work,Right to health care,Right to vote,Right to have SSI there for us on our retirement age,Right to fair wadges to take care of my family. John Boehner on Jobs Voted NO on increasing minimum wage to $7.25. (Jan 2007. See i look at all the facts before i cast my vote. And so should you.vote your merit. Not theirs.Vote past the hate and the lies ohio.By the way, I’m a American. And proud of it.Check the facts your self.Google John Boehner on the issues.Or Google John Beohner vote record.Scroll down to (Rep John Boehner (R-OH8)Voting Record-gov Trak-us.) You decide who John Boehners for.

Seems like only @”only the truth” is being sarcastic but for the most part, s/he is right on. Privatizing SS and medicare would be great steps in the right direction. Government is not efficient and is riddled with waste, fraud and abuse. Government needs to get out of the way and let the free market enterprise work. Capitalism works, Socialism fails every time. Wealth envy must stop. When business makes a profit, everybody makes a profit. When business does not make a profit, the lower and middle class suffers most, not the wealth. Government that governs least governs best. It is not the responsibility of government to take care of you.

So a random sample of eight Ohioans—of whom it seems the ones quoted were boneheads—is worth discussion according to DDN? It’s sad to see a once-respectable paper reduced to nabobs who can’t even write grammatically—much less to tell the difference between real news and puffery. If we want reliable opinion, a larger poll and several more focus groups would be needed; this article only presents opinions that ought not be so respected.

I wish we could get the republicans back in charge. We need to do away with social security, medicare, and medicaid. If we can get repubs back in we can pay corporations more to send american jobs overseas. We can tax the working man more while giving tax cuts to the rich. We can get rid of stem cell research once and for all, so the sick can suffer and make the health care industry rich. And finally, we can once again allow insurance companies to discriminate against sick children, and deny them health coverage. i for one cant wait till repubs get back in because Im wealthy and healthy.

I agree that I don’t like the change in the comment system with DDN. With the new intrusive screening for flying, trains are looking much more appealing. I have concerns about Kasich’s ties with Wall St. and Bush. And I am concerned about his energy policies. I believe Kasich is too backward-looking. The entire country hemorrhaged jobs during the economic crisis-Strickland is not at fault. We need to consider everything to encourage jobs, including trains and green energy. Trains are successful on the East and West Coasts, why not Ohio?

I don’t think he meant it like that. I believe he was referring to the fact we can only comment on blogs and not other articles like it used to be.I think it was the nastiness of some of the posts that caused this.Although Karon does love and go on about her trains :-).

Karon…really? It’s bad enough we can’t comment on any news article any more and it’s because of bone-headed comments like yours.

Evidently Chachi thinks voters don’t have the right to expect politicians to serve those who elected them. Must be a Boehner supporter! If, like me, you think we deserve a representative who puts constituents first, before Party, before lobbyists, before corporate donors, before golf, and before personal ambition, elect Justin Coussoule. He has already proven his leadership and service as a West Point grad and Army captain for over 5 years.

If we want good government, we must hold politicians accountable. Stop re-electing people like John Boehner! For 20 yrs. he has served lobbyists and special interests instead of his constituents. Put Congress on notice that no office holder has a “safe seat”, it has to be earned!
