U.S. Rep. Jordan to seek House leadership slot; mum on possible U.S. Senate bid
U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Urbana, said he is focusing his efforts on becoming chairman of the Republican Study Committee, a group of conservative lawmakers, in the new session of Congress.
Jordan, who was re-elected on Tuesday, has been the subject of speculation about a possible 2012 U.S. Senate race aimed at unseating U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, who is expected to seek a second term.
Jordan said that he understands the importance of the Senate race but that’s not what he’s thinking about now.
“We are totally focused on the work we’ve got to do,” said Jordan. That work includes stopping any tax increases and repealing the overhaul of the health care system, Jordan said.

Hey Jeff, you might want to take a look at the wealthiest politicians since 1990. Those be the Dems. 78% of Democrats in office for over 10 years avg over 10 million in personal wealth, compared to 53% of Repubs during the same time period. THAT my friend is becuase of sweetheart deals the corrupt DEMS amke once they get in office. you might want to google Charlie Rangle and Maxine Waters to start….

Jim Jordan for Senator? He is the wrong Republican to take on Brown. Jordan is just a career politician just like Steve Austria and others. We need a Republican that also runs a business. Putting up a career politician versus a career politician will get you nowhere.

It’s interesting to hear all the republicans saying cut the Federal Budget. When in fact since 1990 a great deal of Republicans became millionaires doing contracted work for the government. I bet when they turn on the light switch the Republican roaches will scamper.

I guess the welfare based critics are out for blood after the recent election results. They are fearful that fiscal conservatives like Jim Jordan will cut their welfare, or maybe put a time limit on it. Welfare is not a career choice, but a short term helping hand for people in dire straits. But it is not to provide decades , or lifetime, support. So, Yes, we need leaders like Jim Jordon in both the House and the Senate. It’s the Economy Stupid! So he will join other fiscal conservatives, both GOP and Democrats in working to create new jobs and get the economy moving forward. He will also work to stop reckless spending.

Jordan is a poor choice for senator. He has done nothing as a congressman. Brown is a better choice.

Jordan,,,US Senator? Seriously? All I hear/see is his same old rhetoric. What has he done? He was in office the whole time that our economy was (and is still) falling apart; no ideas? Not to mention his criticism of the Government actions taken that kept the banking industry from going completely under. More concerned about his ego; be thankful we will have a primary election and will have a choice if he runs.

I think it great that he wanting seek the position of the Communist Brown. We someone like Jordan in there that thinks like a conservative. Eliminating trade barriers, easing of EPA crap so we can have businesses in Ohio again. Brown had better get his resume redone because he is next on the Tea Party’s list in Ohio. He holds up any kind of business friendly legislation. He is the reason people in Wilmington are suffering today.
