Congressman Jordan responds to State of the Union address

U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Urbana, released the following statement after the President’s delivery of his State of the Union Address:

“After two years of reckless spending and putting record levels of debt on the backs of our children and grandchildren, I am glad to see President Obama finally say what the Republican Study Committee has been saying all along, that ‘the only way to tackle our deficit is to cut excessive spending wherever we find it.’

I urge the President to put his call for spending cuts into action by pledging to sign our Spending Reduction Act, a $2.5 trillion spending cut package that will begin to restore fiscal responsibility to Washington.

The President’s call to freeze spending at unsustainable levels is devastating, and would only result in fewer jobs, higher taxes, more borrowing, and more debt piled on the backs of our children and grandchildren. That is nothing less than recklessly driving toward a brick wall at 80 miles per hour, then putting on the cruise control and calling it ‘responsibility.’

The American people have spoken, and our mission in Congress is clear. We must reject the out-of-control spending of Washington and begin to restore fiscal responsibility, to protect taxpayers and create the jobs people need to secure a better future for themselves and their families.”

And Mr. Jordan how long have you been in office. You claim no responsibility for any part of this debt? What do you bring to the table? Ideas? Hope? Or maybe just “No” votes that do nothing to help your district… Criticize and preach but the real deal is while you may have some loyal constituents you haven’t done anything to make it a better USA. I truly don’t know why you’re in office. Please you and your ego run for the Senate so I can vote for the other candidate!
