Burga to head Ohio AFL-CIO

Following in his father’s footsteps, Tim Burga will head the Ohio AFL-CIO, a statewide labor federation of 650,000 workers.

The Ohio AFL-CIO executive board on Friday named Burga to fill the unexpired term of former president Joe Rugola.

“I look forward to continuing to advance the Ohio AFL-CIO’s mission of fighting for good jobs and strong communities,” Burga said.

Burga is a third generation member of the United Steelworkers union, a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and a 25-year veteran of government affairs and political campaigns. Burga has been with the Ohio AFL-CIO since 2002 serving as chief of staff and overseeing the federation’s government relations.

In 2007, Bill Burga — Tim Burga’s father — retired as president after 14 years in the position.

“I look forward to continuing to advance the Ohio AFL-CIO’s mission of fighting for good jobs and strong communities,” Burga said. Yeah right Bozo. I give you GM, Delphi, NCR and MEAD (just to name a few) All union jobs and where are they today? Gone, just like what we hope happens to the unions.

Unions keep them jobs flowing out of Ohio. The top dogs make money off of the workers. Dumbocrats are killing this Country and people just don’t care.

Scott said “Boys, proven fact union workers make more and have better benefits than non union workers. Check it out. Then run your mouths. ” you neglected to mention that union workers produce higher cost goods and are no longer needed. They have out lived their functional life, like out houses and GM.

Its old-school stuff. Unions are outdated, irrelevant “middle-men” in this day and age. Anybody who thinks they need a union to “speak for them” must be very wimpy, weak, and maybe not too bright either. Stop paying those union dues, put it in your Own pocket instead. Unions just use your dues to play politics anyway, and stockpile your money. Pathetic.

WOW!!! Nothing like a little Nepotism in the union ranks!! When will the hard working men and women paying dues to these hacks wake up and see all the fraud and abuse happening right under their nose?? Well, it’s a smart move for the AFL-CIO. With exception of Bernie Madoff not many sons will turn in their father…
