Gov. Kasich to speak at Dayton Chamber of Commerce on Feb. 16

Gov. John Kasich will speak to the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce’s board of trustees on Feb. 16 and the topic is House Bill 1, Kasich’s “JobsOhio” plan to create a non-profit corporation for economic development.

“This is an honor to have the governor come and address our board,” Chris Kershner, chamber vice president for public policy and economic development, said Monday.

“We look forward to participating with him and his administration on ways to improve the business climate in Ohio.”

The House last week passed House Bill 1 and it is now before the Senate.

The meeting will be at 3:30 p.m. in room 106 of the Dayton Convention Center, said Kershner.

The chamber’s board is opening the meeting to members of the business community but an RSVP is required, said Kershner.

Those wishing to attend may call 937-226-8266 or email mar@dacc.org, said Kershner.

The more money the government takes out of the pockets of tax payers is less money the tax payers have to spend, and the less money businesses have to spend on expansion of their businesses, and thus less hiring and even causes more lay offs. You can’t justify spending your way out of a recession. You want more jobs? Cut taxes on businesses so that your area is more business friendly. Businesses will move here if we cut taxes and will move out of the area (as we have seen) when taxes are increased. It’s that simple.

Paul , actually building up infrastructure is powerful and creates thousands of jobs! Kasich said no to the trains, this shows me Kasich either doesnt understand about infrastruture or he doesnt care about creating jobs!

I’m glad we have Kasich right now; he’s got the horsepower and the know-how to help Ohio.

Perspective, Yes I absolutely own a car! Living around Dayton I do drive , also drive to Cincinnati. Actually though if their was a train to get to Cincinnati or Columbus I would take the train! Cincinnati traffic congestion is a nightmare! I would rather my tax money go to trains than highways!

I despise driving to work, especially when there is snow and ice on the roads; however, I really like having a job, and as an adult I realize that I have to live with the cards that are dealt me. I don’t live in an area where it is prudent to have trains because they would cost too much to build and then even more tax money to subsidize operating them, and we don’t have enough people to justify the cost. As an adult, I made the decision to keep my job, and thus, drive to work. How about you, Karon? Are you an adult, too?

No I do not enjoy driving especially long trips. I always take plane or if their are trains around I take them! The highways are dangerous and road construction and traffic accidents can make the commute a nightmare! I dont enjoy being glued to a steering wheel , it is a waste of gas and time!

Ohio has plenty of highways and we do not need more! Fix the highways we already have , and the rest must be put into alternative transportation!

I am not against cars, but I am against car and highway policy only! We need plenty of alternative transportation such as passenger trains and streetcars for the cities!

karon karon karon. Wars for oil? The USA gets very little of its oil from Iraq.Approximately 2.4%. We were importing oil from Iraq long before the war started. I have to ask you karon why do you hate automobiles so much? Do you own one? Would you have our country just let the highways degrade into unusable strips of asphalt and concrete? Don’t you like the freedom of being able to get into your car and drive anywhere in the continental USA you choose?

I laugh when I see statements like the government should be protecting us , But when it comes to taxes people say they dont need the government in their lives.

Our Federal Government SHOULD be protecting our country, and that is why we are on foreign soil fighting wars instead of here on American soil fighting wars. Somebody buy Karon a toy train—please! OMG!

Ah…Karon, that’s bad logic and because of people like you we now have $14,000,000,000,000.00 in Debt.

If we can afford wars and billions we spend on highways each year in this country, we can afford passenger trains for this state and country!

Is that why Obama stopped oil drilling in our waters? So that we could be more dependent on foreign countries for our oil? Doesn’t sound like a very good plan if he is trying to help our country in ANY way.

Karon, did you grow up in America and attend public schools? Is that where you learned incorrect grammar and spelling? Did you see that commercial where this guy’s dad told him an inferior guitar was just as good as the one he wanted, and he said “NO” and then the guy buys an expensive car at the end of the commercial? It reminds me of you and your trains, Karon. Everyone can see we can’t afford nor would our state profit by trains, but you still obnoxiously push the issue.

I would rather have my taxes go to a train, than to oil companies and supporting wars for oil! The more we build this country into a first class mass transit system the less dependent on oil and fighting wars!

Defeating Obama in the next election is an admirable aspiration. Karon did you get inferior toys when you were a child? You still want that toy train, huh? Grow up.

Kasich does not care if Ohio gets jobs , because that would make Obama look good. Kasich and his republican friends only care about defeating Obama in 2012

EBruce…you are so funny….if you don’t have a job…start your own business!!! You can’t wait for government to help. I deal with start-up business all the time. That is where job creation is.

EBruce—what would YOU have Kasich do? Raise taxes on businesses? That’s what I thought…you just don’t GET it, do you? That’s why we’re in this mess…because Obama and his fellow cohorts thought we could SPEND our way out of a recession, and that RAISING TAXES at every opportunity would help rather than hurt our country—but they were wrong, and oh so wrong. And the voters sent them a message, and guess what: they still don’t get it! Just wait until the NEXT election…

Gov. Kasich is an excellent choice as a Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees speaker. His vision of JobsOhio is awesome! For the first time in several years, I am hopeful Ohio will see improvement in its business climate!
