Rev. Jesse Jackson to appear at Columbus rally Wednesday

The Rev. Jesse Jackson is scheduled to be in Columbus on Wednesday for a “Rally for All Workers, Our Schools and Our Community.”

Jackson is expected to speak out against Senate Bill 5, legislation prohibiting collective bargaining for state employees and limiting bargaining for teachers and local government workers, said Brian Rothenberg, executive director of ProgressOhio, one of the groups organizing the rally.

The rally is set for 11 a.m. at the Teamsters building, 555 E. Rich St., in Columbus, a press release said.

Faith leaders, elected officials and union and community leaders are expected to join Jackson.

Who’s paying Jesse? He is nothing but a trouble maker and an extorter. He strong-armed millions to help pay for his out of wedlock children. He is the epitomy of unionism…a lazy bum who lives off the backs of others and has never had a job. Next the Dem’s will be bringing in Larry Flint and Bill Clinton again..

I have seen unions at work and would NEVER be in one again if I can. They protect the lazy workers and those who should be fired while blowing the dues on things that are a waste. Try having the union leadership “meeting” with you because you actually WORK for your money and it is making the lazy ones look bad so you need to slow down and stop. Or watch as the drug addicts and drunks are protected from being fired so you have to eithe rpick up the slack or dumb down to their level of work. Add in that the way most union places public and private work are it is WHO you know in the union over WHAT you know and your qualifications making the hiring decisions. Besides, if unions are so great and important, then why are they not upset and fighting to allow our military to unionize? Imaging how big that would be for them but of course the liberals are fast to point out those in the military CHOOSE to do that so the price they pay is their own. Same with how often they are fast to insult military people and call them “leeches” on the government and dumb or brainwashed.

Who’s paying Jesse? Who’s paying the bills for the Wisconson Dems to hide out in Illinois? Who’s paying for all these outsiders to come in to protest? Its speaks volumes when the unions allow Jesse to inject his manufactured racism into the mix. Unions, the world is watching you, and you’re not looking very good.

Bob, Don’t like paying your fair share, huh? Are you aware that the “conservatives” are the one taking rights away from all “public employees”? The amount you think you would save will be offset by a much larger contribution to STRS, merit raises only (if the supt. likes you) min.20% for Ins. premium. Dam those liberals. All laws that pertain to public empl. will change. :(

Not all Union members choose to spend our money that way. I am a teacher and I have to pay union dues weather I join the union or not. I hate knowing my money is going to elect liberals. Hopefully this bill will make it easier for me to opt out of the Union.

I believe the unions receiving public/state employee money are as corrupt as the unions representing the private sector. I believe the monies will even support causes as high as Obama’s ventures. That I do not support. Obama is putting up a middle of the road front these days while he is really on the extreme left. I don’t want my money going to any of that mess. Nothing to support that Islam Cult/false god mess that is against the West and Israel.

Miss Thelma, You got it right on them unions. While they supposed to help us, they use our money for politics. They are probably paying Jesse Jackson a big chunk to come to Columbus. I am tired of big government and I am tired of the unions taking our money as a liar then giving it to corruption.

I may have some age on me. I can still see what is going on with these unions. They have a history of corruption and they are usually hooked up with the Democratic Party. In this case, public money, they cost the tax payer more money and the money does help fund the corruption within the liberal party. Bottom line is I am against the public employee, employed by the state, hooked in with unions and I support Kasich and the other governors.

S5 doesn’t go far enough. Get the Right to Work LAW PASSED. Indiana is going to steal our jobs because they are passing it right now. The public unions are not the ones keeping business out of Ohio. It is the threat of a business getting unionized that is keeping jobs going to the south and now Indiana.

Yes, I’m getting pretty tired of all of those uppity teachers driving around in their expensive company cars, wearing $$$$ clothes, having their lunches catered, not to mention the pace-maker surgery my child’s 30-something first-grade teacher just had. Just like us? You bet they are. What are you worth? And on the off-chance that they are over-paid (not), all of that money goes back into the local economy. Don’t sh*t where you eat Ohio. You used to be smarter than that. And STRIKE while you’re at it.

It appears the unions were fine with “wealth redistribution” until it’s THEIR wealth the government is going to distribute.

The real issue is whether public sector unions should even be allowed to exist. Frankly, when even a modicum of common sense is infused into the equation, the answer is a resounding no. And the foundational reason is simple. There is no one at the bargaining table representing the folks who are actually going to pay whatever is negotiated. Gee, what could possibly go wrong? Well let’s see what went wrong: California, New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan, Chicago, New York State, New York City, Wisconsin…on and on I could go including almost every city and state where government workers are unionized.

To DEY, The danger of the public sector unions being the seemingly endless supply of money from Joe Taxpayer. The governments, both federal and state, can’t go bankrupt when the union demands get to high. I also think an excellent point is made about the way the unions can all join together against one company or government and the businesses themselves are prohibited from doing the same. Elections are held and the majority gets to put into power the person that will promote the values and agendas that the voter would like, so to now say that the majority of the people are behind the unions and do not want the governments to start making the cutbacks that are needed is simply not true. We can only hope that the fiscal conservatives can continue to band together to fight back in future elections.

The Democratic Party has sold its soul to the public sector unions. The three major public sector unions spent over $171 million in the 2010 election plus an estimated $250 million equivalent value of so-called volunteer activity such as get out the vote efforts, door-to-door campaigning and poll watching. However, AFSCME, the NEA, the AFT (American Federation of Teachers) or the public union sector of SEIU are government employees. Their salaries are paid by the taxpayers and a portion of their salaries go to union dues which are slush funds for political activity and the promotion of left-wing causes.

Ya, that’s just what Ohio needs…an extortionist coming in to stir things up even further. Imagine what the rhyming reverend might say, “That Senate bill 5 is nothing but jive.” “Collective bargaining is more than jargoning.” “Give us more so we’ll never be poor.” “You can extort with a clever retort.”
