Ex-Strickland aide heads new progressive think tank
Janetta King, a top aide to former Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland, is the president of Innovation Ohio, a new non-partisan progressive think tank that opened for business on Monday in Columbus.
The group also released a report that said from 2008-2009 - at the height of the economic downturn - Ohio teachers saw their pay drop an average of 3.8 percent, compared to a 2 percent average increase nationally.
The report was aimed at countering supporters of Senate Bill 5, which would restricting collective bargaining rights for teachers and other public employees.
The group wants to promote public policies that “will move Ohio ahead without leaving some of its people behind,” King, deputy chief of staff for policy for Strickland, said at a press conference.
She declined to identify funding sources for the group or any Republicans who might be joining the group.
Dale Butland, a long-time consultant to Democrats and labor groups and a former aide to U.S. Sen. John Glenn, D-Ohio, is the group’s communications director.

I tend to agree with most of the posters here. We have coddled our public employees for far too long. It is time to take our cues from The Great One, Ronald Reagan, and dismiss all public service employees and replace them from the vast pool of unemployed currently struggling to find employment. After all, how hard is it to stand in front of a room full of crumb crunchers and read from a book until they graduate? Or drive around and eat donuts while looking for bad guys? Or sleep half a shift waiting for the fire alarm to go off? Or prescribe medicine like a nurse? Or drive a bus full of schoolkids or citizens around snow/ice covered streets? Or fix potholes? Or repair bridges? Or test our water/soil? Sheesh, how hard can it be? EMT for a heart attack victim…cakewalk. I’m sure we all know plenty of out of work folks that would leap at the chance to do these jobs for half the wage. Bring ‘em on! They will be soo happy to have a job they won’t even care if we start reducing their pay or eliminate their benefits. We all win. The hardcore unemployable will have jobs and our out-of-pocket costs go way down. Count me in as standing proud with all you super smart people!!

Thank you, Hortence, Here’s a hint. Non-patisan; not partisan, free from party affiliation, or BIAS, …. The last financial statement listed on the Policy Matters Ohio website is from 2007. It lists the Economic Policy Institute as one of it’s benefactors. Who is on the Board of Directors of the American Policy Institute? Some of the Board Members are: The president of the International Asso. of Machinists, an officer of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the president of the Communication Workers of America, the preident of the United Steel Workers, the President of the UAW, the president of the State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the president of the AFL-CIO, and the president of the American Federation of Teachers… Are you saying Policy Matters Ohio is not agenda driven? Follow the MONEY! I stand by my earlier post.

It appears as though none of you know what partisan means. Here’s a hint: it doesn’t mean “without a point of view.” @It is what it is, I don’t think that you have looked at the financial documents of Policy Matters Ohio. If you had, you would see that although they do get financial support from unions, it is very little support relative to the vast majority that comes from foundation grants.

Pay attention. Wisconsin has allowed their capital to be invaded with radical groups. If you look at the photos you will see the Communist, socialist, anarchist literature hanging in their capital. If you watch some of the videos you will hear the Communists and Socialists openly telling you they are there and why they are there. They are hoping to recruit and they are handing out literature. The teachers went back to work. So who is in Wisconsin protesting? The people that are camped in the capital are they even residents of Wisconsin? I’m glad that our capital has not been invading. These union people that are protesting are protesting against us private citizen taxpayers. We are “the man”, “the boss” that they are complaining of, we are the people they want to take down.

Raiel, if you want people to take you at your word, you need to stop lying. Did you know that intentionally lying against me is against God’s law? Do you believe in God, Raiel? You are trying to make me look like I’m making all of this up, but there is proof and now what do you say? That YOU are sorry? Because you really are very very sorry, Raiel… Tell the truth! God sees you!

While the ties to Labor Unions and the Egyptian youth revolution have been brushed off as a conspiracy theory a recent interview with Secretary of State Hilary Clinton actually reveals the relationship. Interviewed for Masrawy.com, an Egyptian news site, Secretary Clinton confirms the long standing relationship with Egyptian labor unions and their State Department funding. The Secretary also acknowledges that the government of Egypt wasn’t at all happy about this support according to the State Department transcript. Go to the link for more information. What did you say Raiel? Eh?

How do you claim bi-partisanship, and then decline to name any republicans? Hey Hershey, do you think that might have been a good opportunity to ask a follow-up question? Typical DDN left slanting lazy journalism.

“Communist Democratic labor unions are funding rebellions in Wisconsin and Egypt.” If Squirrellygirl were a TV character, she’d be the hilarious ignorant person who gets everything wrong. In real life, it’s sad and scary.

Once again, William Hershey writes a lie. Innovation Ohio is very much partisan. Its ENTIRE staff is made of LIBERAL Democrats. Not just Democrats, but the “left of the left” Democrats.

Follow the money. This is another ideological non profit that exists to influence public opinion. Both sides of the political spectrum use these propaganda machines to produce press releases that the media quote as gospel. If this organization is anything like Policy Matters Ohio, financial support will likely come from the public service unions.

It’s a progressive think tank. Democrats are the majority who are with unions, and unions are communist based. They are funding rebellion in Egypt, and in Wisconsin.

A non-partisan think tank? I think not: “The report was aimed at countering supporters of Senate Bill 5, which would restricting collective bargaining rights for teachers and other public employees.”
