Kasich to Obama: butt out
President Barack Obama says that he strongly disapproves of new laws restricting public employee unions in Ohio and Wisconsin and says states should not use the financial crisis as an excuse to erode bargaining rights.
Gov. John Kasich says the president should mind his own business.
“Why doesn’t he do his job? And when he does his job and gets our (federal) budget balanced and starts to prepare a future for our children, then maybe he can have an opinion on what’s going on in Ohio,” Kasich said at an unrelated press conference on Wednesday.
The Associated Press reported that Obama said in a White House interview with a Cleveland TV station that public employees should not be blamed for a financial crisis and that sacrifices should be shared in tough economic times.
Ohio adopted Senate Bill 5, which restricts collective bargaining rights for the state’s 350,000 teachers, firefighters, cops, prison guards and other public employees. Unions are seeking a referendum on the November ballot to block the new law.
Wisconsin’s law covers 175,000 workers, but not police and firefighters. It’s temporarily blocked by a court order.
Information from the Associated Press is included in this report.

The rich? You mean like George Soros? Soros was thirteen years old in March 1944 when Nazi Germany occupied Hungary. Soros took a job with the Jewish Council, which had been established during the Nazi occupation of Hungary to carry out Nazi and Hungarian government anti-Jewish measures. Soros later described this time to writer Michael Lewis: The Jewish Council asked the little kids to hand out the deportation notices. I was told to go to the Jewish Council. And there I was given these small slips of paper…It said report to the rabbi seminary at 9 am…And I was given this list of names. I took this piece of paper to my father. He instantly recognized it. This was a list of Hungarian Jewish lawyers. He said, “You deliver the slips of paper and tell the people that if they report they will be deported.” Soros was a teenage Kapo and described his time serving the Nazis as one of the most enjoyable times of his life.

“By the time the commission is appointed, reviews, and makes a decision, the damage will be done.” This is an example of how the progressives operate, how they roll, if you will. They get your eye off the ball by creating chaos or diverting your attention to another subject. Like, “the gas is going up and we’ll check out if the regulators are up to sumtin!” all the while the FED is pumping printed money into circulation and monetizing their debt. Banks all of a sudden have reserve cash, and our dollar doesn’t buy what it use to, it’s worth 20% less, and gas goes up 20%. What a coincidence! But at least Obama checked out the regulators! SNARK! Guess who is behind all of this manipulation of our economy? You get one guess, and his first name is DICTATOR, as in “Dick!”

What I don’t think people are getting is this: Obama’s vision of the “American Dream” is not the same as it is too most Americans. While most Americans envision an America where everyone has the same chances to get the things you need to have a good life. But Obama wants no cars, which means he is willing to sacrifice the cause of not having those cars on the road: no jobs. You see, in an economy that is failing, where people can’t find a job, they are more dependent on the government to give them their needs. In the true American Dream, Americans can find jobs and work for their dreams. Obama said under his policy energy prices would necessarily skyrocket. Abra Kadabra! Like Magic! Gas prices are skyrocketing, and there’s no backup plan. No drilling permits in America, but billions of our tax dollars sent to Brazil for drilling there. Redistribution of our “wealth” to Brazil. Redistribution of our “wealth” to oil rich countries overseas. But workers here in the states, nothing for you. No permits, no work. See what I mean? And the unions sabotaging Chase Bank and our stockmarkets should alarm every true blooded American. Haven’t heard much about this in the media. Wonder why…

Roger is right. This is what the left wants. The more chaos they create, the easier it is to invoke their controlling policies. They create the problems, then claim they are the only solution. The unions are more than willing to help out, all to the ultimate detriment of America and it’s citizens, and yes, the union members. That’s the Alinsky playbook.

It doesn’t matter if you are a dem or repub, higher gas costs are going to contribute to our economy going off the deep end. Today, gas is $4.16/gal. It was $3.99 yesterday. We will lose more jobs because of it. And Obama knows it is the printing of the money, Quantitative Easing by the Fed that is causing a huge part of the increase in gas prices. We’re done for under this administration. They are winning. Socialism is here. You think you will be free under Socialism? Think again.

I think all of you Democrats and Republicans better wake up and smell the coffee before it’s too late….If gas prices continue to rise with “No End in Sight”, it won’t matter whether you have bargaining rights or not, or how much you pay for insurance because no one will be able to afford to pay anything. The cost of gas is affecting the cost of everything, and your Counties, Cities, and States won’t be able to keep there budgets in line…Ya all need to Wake up, before it’s too late…I believe the President stated there is nothing illegal going on, but will appoint a commission to review. By the time the commission is appointed, reviews, and makes a decision, the damage will be done. The Petty squabbles that your complaining about mean nothing compared to the problems on the horizon as gas gets to $5 and $6 dollars a gallon and more.

Jack and State Worker have it right! SB5 is only asks they pay more in to things like healthcare. These workers may say they are paid less but look at the benefits package for healthcare and retirement and the total is WAY more than the private sector. Also complaints they will not get SS when they retire are a joke because the retirement they get is MUCH better and they do not have to pay in to SS like the rest of us. Heck, maybe these state employees should be FORCED to go to a VA style system for healthcare since they get better treatment going to PRIVATE doctors under they plan than disabled veterans get. Also the Dayton VA and recent cases of police officers keeping their jobs because of union protection YEARS after they should have been fired are perfect examples of one of the biggest problems. SB5 really doesn’t go far ENOUGH if you look at what it really does. Those thinking it is bad may want to talk to someone convicted by a police officer who was caught repeatedly in lies to gain busts against innocent people or a veteran who now have hep, HIV or etc because the unions helped ensure people kept their jobs, benefits and rest instead of helping dump the BAD public service employees and protecting the good ones who have tried to report things. And yes I have been in a union and seen how it is more who you kiss up to than anything because if you try to do what is RIGHT and report serious issues, the UNION will attack you while protecting someone that can cost the lives of people with their actions. To the good public service people, I applaud you and appreciate you but also I have been on BOTH sides and LEFT because it was all insider BS costing the taxpayer a fortune because the lazy who use their time smoozing and kissing rear NOT working are the ones protected the most while the GOOD workers were punished for making them look bad.

The thing I don’t like about all this is the supposed attack on the middle class that this bill offers but consider this: If we assume that 70% of Ohio’s 11 million people are considered “middle class” and we assume that all of the 320,000 State employees fit into that middle class, we find this “attack” is only on about 4% of the state’s total middle class population. I would hardly call this an attack on the middle class. So why are the Dems so emphatically trying to make people believe their lie? The assumption I made is that each of these 320,000 State employees make, on average, $20 per hour (however, I’m sure the number is much higher). Union members pay one hour each pay period to the Union whether they want to or not as their “fair share”. Now here’s the fun part, you multiply that $20 per pay period by the 320,000 union employees, we find that the Union is making over six million dollars a pay period from union workers. Of course we have to double that to get the amount per month which comes out to $12,800,000 PER MONTH!!! This is what the Union is concerned about, not Ohioans! This all adds up to about $153 million each year and again this figure is probably low. Since the Union helps to fund the Dem Party I would like to know how much of this goes to them, and how much goes into the union bosses pockets?

Like I said before, if the devil isn’t bothering you, you’re doing something wrong. Get it? Obama seems to think his job is to usurp authority over the states. He sided with Mexico President against AZ Governor, and now here he is siding with the unions against SC on Boeing jobs and Ohio Governor Kasich on SB5. I’m so glad Kasich called President Obama out on this. Obama is the one who has shown nothing but contempt and disrespect to Republicans. Don’t you remember Obama’s statements about Republicans being his enemies, Tea Party members as extremists, and suing AZ Governor for trying to protect AZ citizens from illegal aliens, Mexican drug cartels. We have a war on our southern border, and Obama is encouraging illegal aliens to stand against our American laws.

To those who state that Union/government workers are lazy and unmotivated, I would like you to show some statictics to verify this claim. Most government workers I’ve encountered (and I’ve known many)are hard-working individuals, many in jobs with high stress-levels, high risk factors, high levels of public scrutiny (everyone thinks they’re your boss)and lower wages than comparable private-sector workers. Persons who have chosen public service as their career choice, have done so with issues like pay, benefits, job security and the retirement system as many of the deciding factors. Government employees provide many services to the taxpayer. They provide safety (police and fire), try to protect your property value and quality of life (housing code enforcement), provide your water and dispose of your waste and sewage, build and maintain roads and bridges so you can get to your non-government jobs. The list goes on and on. When you buy goods and/or services from someone else, do you try to dictate what benefits the employees recieve? When you hire company “ABC” to replace your driveway, do you tell the company that their employees can’t have bargaining rights and that you shouldn’t be paying for their employees’ retirement or healthcare benefits?Wake up people. Kasich is a disrespectful cohort of the super-rich and 95% of us will just get poorer while the other 5% just get wealthier and have more control over us peons.

The union bosses are nothing but slugs and thugs feeding off of the union members and taxpayers. Are you people aware that the union bosses refuse to let the peons that work for the union bosses to unionize. Union bosses have even fired their employees for attempting to unionize. Obama is now suing republican states that have protected their citizens from the union thugs. Obama should mind his own business. And those of you that think Kaisch should show the President respect, NONE of you EVER EVER showed Bush respect. Obama every chance he gets shows disrespect for American citizens of all colors and persuasions that do not agree with him.

I can guarantee you that not ONE person would have said, bust the unions. This issue was no where then, not even a thought. Then along comes Kasich/Koch and suddenly it’s the best solution to balance out budget? In 35 years, no one else has said, this is how we will balance our state budget - till now???

these posts are sad and people are so mislead. Union folks do pay into retirements, just like everyone else. Many will not get SS benefits like most everyone else. But that aside, it’s simply economics: busting a union does not help the budget and won’t stimulate jobs and won’t bring down unemployment - all things this state needs. It’s not about lib or conserv or union or not, it’s about OUR state needing certain eco policies that are not driven by a wall-street mentality. Stop being hateful people, the union thing is not about the budget. distance yourself and take a real look.

I am a state worker and a union member. I oppose the union and it’s socialist ideology. I oppose the lazy and the incompetent workers in my office that the union protects. I’m disgusted by the waste of tax money the union demands. Obama is a Marxist who has appointed self-avowed communists to his cabinet. Some unions are ran by self-avowed communists like the former president of the SEIU. You can tell the level of intelligence of the SB5 repealers by their comments. Selfish, emotional arguments laced with insults and idiotic comments. Every one of these little people are worried about no one but themselves. Have you ever heard one of these anti-SB5 morons talk about what’s best for the state or the taxpayer. Have you ever heard a teacher have empathy for the taxpayer? If you want to live in a stagnant society, if you want less choices, if you want a bureaucrat making personal decisions for you, than support these unions and Obama. If you like working so your neighbor doesn’t have to, than support Obama and the unions.

These posts prove to me several things. 1) The average union worker has no understanding how State and Federal Government is set up and how it operates. 2) They believe they are special, entitled and deserving of things the private sector is not. 3) Unfair labor negotiations and practices, harrassment and criminal activity are quite alright if it benefits them, but will cry like spurned schoolgirls, when the law and reality get in their way. 4) Factually challenged to the point that all they can do is call names and repeat the Union mantra. 5) Spells and uses grammar on par with the average 5th grader, knowing if they actually had to compete in the real world, they would struggle. 6) They actually believe Obama is for them, forgetting what Obama has done in South Carolina, to GM workers, and he has denied collective bargaining rights to some government employees. 7) Prefers to be ignorant on facts, wraps themselves with lies and assumptions when the truth and facts are easily assessable.

The United States of America is named because our Founding Fathers designed our Three part Government with Checks and Balances. The Executive, Judical and Legislature. The Federal Government was designed as a Central Focus Point and not an almighty Governing Power. The Supreme Court still hears issues of the Federal Government overstepping the boundries. States are Autonomous Intities which are self Governing. The Federal Government has on Power to dictate to the States. So Obama, as President, can make a personal statement or opinion, but he has no power or Authority to override Ohio’s Sovereignty. Governor Kasich is well within his right’s to remind the President of his Role, which is to stay out of States Rights. So thank you Governor Kasich for trying to solve the mess ex-Gov Strickland left for Ohio. Some one has to make the hard choices and Gov Kasich is working for Ohio.

Look what Obama has done in South Carolina to Boeing. He has stunted job growth in South Carolina by stopping a Boeing factory from manufacturing aircraft. Unions are the blame for that. Lawmakers in Columbus had better take note. I will encourage to vote you Republicans out if you don’t introduce that legislation. OK, first off wake up makes the most sense in this whole thing! Second, Yahoo just did a story showing that if you go ONLY by taxes, then the wealthy are getting wealthier but when you take in EVERYTHING then the poor and middle class have gone up too. Also claiming it is wrong to say this by our elected Governor is BS since Obama had no problems telling us that anyone who disagreed had to “come along for the ride” but “at the back of the bus” demonstrating that any compromise was wrong and not going to happen. Face it, you can’t scream “Bush was SELECTED not ELECTED!” and dress him up as Hitler while destroying the property and assaulting people who liked him and then scream that to tell Obama to get off the vacation and campaign trails and actually WORK instead of spending money is wrong. We can’t spend our way out of this and overspending by BOTH sides caused a lot of this mess. We also sure can’t go from $10 TRILLION in debt for entire nation’s history to $14 Trillion now and claim it is all the fault of the last President. Sorry but adding more than 1/3rd again to the debt and claiming even cutting the rate we borrow is “extreme” and “cruel” is crap. We need to cut back to UNDER what we are spending to even touch the debt and “reducing” the deficit doesn’t do that. It also means cutting for ALL areas and not just military, teachers, police, politicians, welfare, SS but ALL areas with NONE being left untouched. BTW, having tried to get a government job, hint, it is who you kissed the rear of and not anything else that gets you the job. Not just me but many much more qualified didn’t get hired as part of the government “in-sourcing” Obama did early on. Instead those with no military background or other special advantages were hired though they had been complained about and even reported for not doing their jobs even when others with degrees, training and MUCH better knowledge and skills tried too. If you ever wonder why the people at the public sector never seem to work, hint, those who do the unions don’t like since it makes the lazy look bad and non-union jobs are all based on WHO not WHAT you know. Laws on hiring mean nothing then since the same government people who are tasked to investigate these things work for that government and guess how THEY got their jobs?

Unions Libs are amazing. It’s never bothered you that your Union Leaders and Democratic politicians have has an incestuous relationship for years. You benefited by it. Throughout the past 6 months, I’ve yet to see where anyone claiming to be Union ever questions how their Union allowed the rank and file get themselves in this position. Your Union leaders make some big salaries, you always pay union dues, you’re forced to, even if you don’t want to. You complain about how much of this and that you have to pay out of pocket, how you agreed to concessions, but your unions keep donating millions and millions to the Democratic Party. Why are you having to pay more, when the Union keeps funneling money in Democrats campaigns, and this is the result. They deflect any blame to the Republicans and to Kasich, and you snap to in lockstep agreement. Something tells me your union and the Democrats let you down.

It’s got to be killing you Tea Bagging Morons that unemployment has dropped 3% since the Stimulus, and looks like it’s going to fall further. You idiots should get off your meth pipes and apply at AK Steel. Since GM has been saved, it’s making steel like crazy. You’ll have to pass a drug test to get hired. Hopefully for you baggers, there won’t be an IQ test.

Have been on both sides of union & mgt -good & bad both.Only reason I have ever seen to get rid of bargaining is if you have bad leadership/ management- makes their job easy . The Gov should belly up a few ans before he downs the Pres. - Where was he when wall st got greedy, how come all the wars , pre 2008 never reached the budget? Start leading Gov. and cut your sal 10-20%, cut your ret plan 10-20%, cut your health Ins cov 10-20% , then start complaining. Go to work and quit picking sides. Lets get some more trickle down effect. Since 1985, 5% of the top people , own 85% of all the wealth. 5% of 300 million people is - 15million people . They run the country like it or not. That is the US, so get use to it folks.

In Ohio, Republican Gov. John Kasich’s approval rating stood at just 30 percent last week, according to a Quinnipiac University poll. Earlier in the month — even before Kasich detailed a budget featuring cuts to Medicaid, local governments and more — the University of Cincinnati had that number at 40 percent. Both surveys showed nearly half of voters disapproved of Kasich. Kasich has plenty of problems. First, he’s very abrasive. Then, he declared war on the unions in Ohio, including the police and firefighters unions that traditionally support Republicans. Now he’s paying the price.

Wish everyone would wake up. stop pointing fingers at each other and do something to create jobs. We are all in this together and as long as we point fingers nothing will get done.. Why dont we start at the top. 99 weeks of unemployement, really, study shows that people are back to work with-in 2 weeks of unemployment running out( done by bush). He can’t secure our borders because it is too hard for him. Instead, he’ll tell us that we can’t put salt on our food and that we need to pay more “sin” taxes for our soda pop. Thug president needs to be set straight. Socialism won’t be tolerated in America. Union thugs will be investigated in time for their crimes against America and our economy. If not under this administration, then it will be investigated under the next. The same thing that happened to the “progressives” under Presidents FDR and Wilson will happen again. Why do the liberals say the same things regardless of the article like the brilliant Princequeeno. Define arrogance. Is it different than Obama’s, or Sherrod’s shameless comparisions to Hitler on thee Senate floor? Most Ohioans beleive he has been very respectful. (most is defined by more than 6.7% of the population). Your painful reality is, that MOST Ohioans are sick and tired of the unions, their tactics and their poor results. Don’t expect you to understand that because you have no comprehension beyond your monthly union newsletter. Your time has come and gone through you own short-sightedness, and you eventually will have to accept it. Time to grow up, Skippy. The legal reality is, the federal Government has no business getting involved in State’s issues. A bit of knowledge of how the government operates would make that obvious.

It was exposed in a meeting in NY where his idol, Pivon, of “Cloward and Pivon” who wrote a book on how to overwhelm our economy and cause the banks to fail and stockmarkets to crash. You can read about it for yourself on yahoo, just search for “Union Leader Lerner” and “Pivon” and “NY meeting” and “sabotage”… Obama is worried about the union votes. Obama’s in campaign mode…
