Kasich appoints Seth Morgan to retirement panel
Gov. John Kasich appointed fellow Republican Seth Morgan, a former state representative from Huber Heights, to the bipartisan Ohio Retirement Study Council.
Morgan, a certified public accountant, starts his term immediately and will serve until June 30, 2012.
The ORSC reviews proposed legislative changes that might impact the state’s five public pension systems and makes recommendations to the General Assembly.

DDN is a 40 hr./9 to 5 work week. Posts on Friday are expected to last until midday Monday. There is no weekend news in the world of the DDN, as expecting a paper to exist for their readership is as absurd as a government to exist for it’s people. Hope Y’all had a correct weekend.

When we were 20-25 years old we all had decisions to make about our careers. Some chose factory work, some chose public sector work. Public sector employees made less money but had decent benefits and retirements. Now that the government has shipped the factory jobs out of this country, people are angry at the public sector workers. There anger is directed at the wrong people. Most people would not want to be a policeman, fireman or teacher but now they want to blame them for this budget mess which is not their fault at all. Blame the real people who created this mess, your elected leaders. These people are your middle class. I don’t see the governor or his cabinet making any concessions, they are your upper class. The governor is putting a spin on this to blame the middle class instead of taxing the rich. This is not hard to figure out if you just stop and look at it.

Ohio was a hot bed of republican corruption and right wing crime…and now Kasich has made sure thats where were at again. Kasich will go down as the most corrupt failed Gov Ohio has ever had. What an accurate reflection of the stupidity and ignorance of right wingers in Ohio. So dumbed down, so low information…so faux noise…

How nice to see all the polite…NOT…..people from the left posting their hate filled name calling garbage. Good Lord do you people even read what you’re writing? You insult and make hate filled comments about a wide group of people that YOU DON”T EVEN KNOW! Why are you filled with such hatred because people disagree with you? Our country is founded upon FREEDOM to believe and think as we feel. I don’t agree with you but it doesn’t mean we have to spew hate filled garbage speech. Most of you I cannot take seriously because of the hate your hearts are filled with for anyone whose ideas and beliefs don’t match yours. Present your arguments in a rational manner if you want to make your case. Here let me show you what you ha ve called folks who disagree with you. Teabaggers, republicants, meth head teabaggers,Seth Morgan is an inexperienced, arrogant punk. How appropriate that Kasich should appoint this worthless infant to the retirement council. Morgan ran one of the nastiest campaigns ever seen in this state. He’s a liar, a punk and has absolutely no morals.. You,who preach tolerance of everyone one,are the most intolerant hateful people going.Sad.

Bull Pucky. Tough economic times have always been dealt with through spending cuts AND increasing revenue. I am referring to increased revenue NOT on the backs of the middle class, but on the wealthy. Record corporate and CEO profits, yet the middle class gets squeezed. Shared sacrifice my but. Wake up America, we are being bamboozled!

Seth Morgan is an honest and decent person. Further, he is well qualified for the position. Too bad you union members managed to run much of the business out of the state. Dayton is dead. The state has an $8 billion deficit and it is growing. The public workers, including teachers, have demanded more and more. SB 5 is only a start to correct some of the unsustainable demands made by the public sector employees. Wake up! We are on a sinking ship. Our grandchildren will be living in a socialist state, if corrections aren’t made NOW. The sinking middle class consists of the tax-paying working people in this state. They are taxed to death. Maybe you greedy union members will eventually see the light. It is almost too late. Are you all really that stupid? Or, do you allow stupid people to speak for you?

This 30-year experiment in trickle down economics is well stocked with historical markers by now. Overall taxes are the lowest in generations. And yet, infrastructure is crumbling around us. And where are the job creations with all these tax cuts? In the last 30 years, the only job spurts we’ve had came after Reagan signed on to the largest peacetime tax increase ever (and yes, that historical FACT totally infuriates the meth head tea baggers) and, of course, the booming 90’s came after Clinton enacted a modest increase on the top margins. So history tells us that higher taxes didn’t hinder job growth (actually, growth exploded) and history certainly tells us that tax cuts didn’t create job growth (Bush sent us into a Hoover depression). Kasich could follow the Clinton/Reagan model. But nope, he’s following the anti middle class, union-hating Texas model, which has turned that state into a sqaulid cesspole.

Really, I have to agree with you. I think the pension system is gone. Just one more step in completely crushing the middle, working class. What the teabaggers and other republicants don’t seem to understand is that they are coming after them too. It is easy to start at the government level then move to the private sector. By the time this Kock brothers plan is fully implemented it will be too late for all of us. I heard something the other day that made the most sense I’ve heard in a while “If it wasn’t for the unions, you would still be working 10-12 hours a day seven days a week for minimum wage with no paid vacation or benefits.”

Let’s see. Mr. Kasich wants to take down public employees benefits and pensions. He hand picks one of his political buddies (a CPA) to be on the board to review. I may be going out on a limb on this but I bet his findings will exactly reflect Kasich’s plan for reduction.
