“Heartbeat” bill backers urge House vote before summer break
Backers of the “Heartbeat” Bill, legislation to prohibition abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected, have ramped up efforts to get a vote in the House before the legislature breaks for the summer, probably at the end of the month.
The campaign to get a vote on House Bill 125 has generated dozens, if not hundreds” of calls to House Speaker William Batchelder, R-Medina, Lori Viars, executive director of Family First PAC, a key supporter of the effort, said Monday.
Supporters also have put up a YouTube video that depicts babies calling the Speaker. To view the video, click here.
“We’d like to see a vote this week,” said Viars.
Batchelder said last week that he now expects the House to vote on the bill, but probably not until after the summer break. He has said he has been reviewing legal issues surrounding the bill and other anti-abortion legislation.
Mike Dittoe, Batchelder’s spokesman, said he hasn’t heard “anything to the contrary” about timing for a vote. Batchelder continues to work and listen to input from the House GOP caucus, said Dittoe.

Does OriginalThough think that if you don’t make a lot of money that your children should be aborted? Where do you cut this thing off? And who do you think you are setting yourself up as God? It’s called “playing God” when you decide for someone else that it would be “better” for them if they were aborted, or get the doctors tweezers out and break off parts of the baby’s body as you are ripping it apart in mommy’s womb…or maybe give her a pill that will attack the fetus and cause it to be aborted. Nice. So if our gov’t decides that certain minorities aren’t good, they can abort their babies? This sounds like Hitler. But then, the progressives have the same agenda as Hitler. They do.

The laws of this land should reflect our high morality. They were based on Christian and Jew concepts of the 10 commandments. Thou shalt not kill is one of those, and it includes defenseless babies in the womb. Slimy representatives (similar to your progressive Weiner) have worked to rewrite our laws so that our morals are so low that they can socialize our country and take God out of the equation. Well, how do you like America now, folks? You can’t mention God at our schools unless you are talking about muslims. You can’t say the pledge of allegiance in some schools, and you can’t even bring a Bible with you or pray. This is not freedom of religion, it is a vocal minority who are using these slimy politicians to limit our freedoms. Any politically driven programs, like Planned Parenthood, stem cell research, tax payer funded abortions, for example, should not be funded by taxpayers. This would alleviate some of our debt to get rid of these political programs that most taxpayers don’t agree on.

Raiel, what did this “God” that spoke to you look like? Did he have a pitchfork in his hand? Seriously. This devil said it is okay to kill 6 month old baby in mom’s womb? Bible says evil can appear as an angel in disguise. Guess yours came disguised as “God”. Raiel, the Word says it is murder. God doesn’t conflict his own Word. So maybe you made it up? Quentin: Abortion is always wrong. It is killing someone who can’t defend themself. It is murder, no matter if the daddy makes the mommy do it, or if the mommy just wants to get rid of the “baby” from her having her fun, or whatever her reasons are. Yes, I agree with you regarding our laws, that there should be some changes regarding how the law deals with father and his rights. ITA with some of what you said.

Here is an interesting story and I have seen some close to it before. She aborts a child he wanted and was willing to care for, and in this case, he put up a billboard over it. How many would have cheered over personal information given out if she had suspected him of cheating and done the same? His privacy would be of no value even if she had been wrong and he hadn’t cheated. Same with men having no privacy in courts demanding his DNA to show he is the father to support the child but the double standard in most states where DNA is not admissible to prove he is NOT the father and get out of supporting the child. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/06/07/jilted-ex-boyfriend-puts-up-abortion-billboard/?test=latestnews

Since by law it is from the moment of conception for men, then enforce equality, demand women follow the same standards. She can adopt out a child without his consent, abort, or keep the child and not even tell him until over a decade later yet he is still responsible and must pay support to include it being backdated up to 14 years here in Ohio. Add in that the courts have ruled with the laws backing up his being a victim of a sex crime by her as no excuse and the law should be simple, if women are equal and should be treated so, then they should be equally responsible. If he can’t have a legal “abortion” with no responsibilities to the child under any reasoning, then why should women be allowed to abort at any time for any reason? If women want all the rights when it comes to reproduction, then they have the accept all the responsibilities. As it stands, men have no rights but are responsible and I have seen about 2 supporters of abortion willing to address this problem and who actually believe men should have some rights too or should not have the responsibilities. If you want to reduce abortions and unwanted children who grow up in abusive homes, then look at that area as women would not be able to try and use getting pregnant as a way to force a man to support her and to control him through total control over his access to a child he wants. And as an interesting side note, if you think things like this are uncommon, genetic studies that accounted for adoption and etc have found that and average through history to this day we have 1 in 10 of us that our mother’s lied and the man who thought he was our father and we thought was our father really was not.

OT(really)….are you saying that since there are no guarantees for an easy life, that somehow it rationalizes abortion? You are dead wrong in asserting that Christians do nothing to help the disadvantaged children locally and across the world. (A bit of research is needed on your part, you could actually learn something) By far the most effective charities are faith based and are free of the corruption of far less effective government and American and International (UN) political run charities. More of your donations go to where its needed faster than thru a high overhead, mismanaged government operation. Can you say Haiti? It’s common knowledge for sensible fact based thinker, so its easy to see and understand why you can post such an ignorant tirade and believe you are making any kind of point. Talk about cherry picking. You libs tell others to stay out of your lives. That’s fine, but that’s the line of BS you try to pass. You say we have no right, but what gives you the right to force financial responsibility on us thru taxes while doing your best to lay blame for every stupid mistake you make, so you can expand and avoid responsibility your behavior. As long as someone else picks up the tab. A good example of your hypocrisy is the “you keep your hands off my body mantra”, compared to the California push to ban circumcision. How do you rationalize and justify that? Somehow you can always find a way to gloss over liberal hypocrisy and find fault with anything you believe to be Conservative based. As we are learning thru Weiner and thru pinheads like you hypocrisy lives large in Liberal circles. Is there one thing in your rant, that could not be applied to Liberals? No one is trying to control your lives, but we hope if you are forced to take responsibility for your own behavior, eventually you may do so. Another thing you should notice about this Weiner fiasco, how the press and people like you question Conservatives because we draw a line. Liberals do not have the courage or the emotional maturity to do so. That is why Weiner’s situation and others like Bill Clinton’s are looked at differently. You have no moral line, so there is no standard that you can be held. Just what are liberals and someone like you really doing for the children?

If this proposed law could could be a cure all for the unwanted, abused and neglected children of Ohio, then it would make sense. As it stands now, it is just another cry for control of our lives. How about the focus be on jobs instead of when life is viable?

God told me that abortion is fine up until 6 months because even if there’s a heart beating it doesn’t mean it has obtained a mind or soul yet. Though, God says we should stop be irresponsible fools and educate people on how avoid unwanted pregnancies, even the non-abstinent. Actually, they need comprehensive education more!

Call it what it really is…Right to BIRTH. After an infant leaves the womb, the RTL folks are NOT filling the airways, pages & chambers with demands to protect the HALF MILLION KIDS A YEAR!, in the good old U.S. alone, who are beaten, abused, bought & sold into the worst possible horror imaginable. Why do we never hear the Lovers of Life cry for THEM? Hey Newt, John, sarah, Mitch, Carl, Rev. Feltcher, hows about a bit of love for the KIDS THAT ARE HERE? Incrementalism?, NO WAY!..again, call it by its’ REAL name… Cherry Picking Opportunists & Posers, clamoring about “right to life”, out of one face, while supporting guns, war, forced religion & worship of THIN AIR!, out of the other. You “christians” have WAY too many faces. And as far as some “higher power” demanding this…….Man…Please!

Incrementalism has proven to be an utter failure.Ohio, and this nation, needs a bill that will protect all persons from conception until natural death. God demands nothing less.
