Antioch College supporters petition Ohio attorney general
Supporters of Antioch College took their case to Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray on Friday, Feb. 27.
A group of Greene County residents led by Otha Davenport of Xenia presented a petition to the attorney general’s office calling for an investigation of Antioch University. The petitioners are looking to clarify the factors that led to the closure of Antioch College in Yellow Springs on June 30, 2008.
The petitioners allege that the Antioch University Board of Trustees has violated the various fiduciary duties of care, compliance, loyalty and the duty to maintain accounts imposed under the Ohio Revised Code.
“The thrust of the petition is that the Board of Directors for the past several years … have taken actions that were not in the interest of the college,” Davenport said. “There’s been transfers of funds that were probably not appropriate. There have been pledges of assets of the college for construction at other (Antioch) campuses that probably were not appropriate.”
Antioch University, based in Yellow Springs, operates campuses in four states: California, New Hampshire, Ohio and Washington.
The petition carried 15 signatures from former Antioch College students and faculty, alumni and concerned citizens. “The Ohio Revised Code only requires five,” Davenport said.

I hope all of us who attend at McGregor feel tired of senseless havoc… Beginning at the old college and now at the new university… it is different, odd and disturbing. Employees walk around and powder themselves but essentially what are they really doing for us, the students?? (Other than charging us too much money??) It has been a rough road for nearly two years and alike that most of us feel the same. Being without a library for nearly a year is only the beginning. I sure wish I’d had known then, what I know now…. Look at the time we’ve wasted and continue to waste. This place needs an overhaul and I feel ashamed for being apart of the Antioch College community as being part of McGregor University.By Wordell

Do you expect productivity(?!) out of your socialist haven? You pay money to an anti-capitalist/anti freedom institution, and expect results? Be careful how you complain about your “collective”, the commissars of political thought will be questioning you in the future. And for the library, pick up a copy of “Das Kapital” by Marx, and Mao’s “Little Red Book”, they’re all ya’ need “comrade bunky student”. These two works will prepare you for your future. The fact remains that Antioch had produced a toxic atmosphere of non-tolerant political correctness. A lot of liberal students went there and left after the first year. They discovered they were not allowed to be free thinkers or ask certain questions.By Jay
