Bowling for Soup to perform at WittFest

Bowling for Soup will headline Wittenberg University’s annual day-long music festival — WittFest — on May 1.

The band, best known for its hit “Girl All the Bad Guys Want”, will perform at 10 p.m., concluding a day of music that will include campus acts Just Eve, the WittMen crew, the Wittenberg Dance Company, the Wittenberg Dance Team, and WittFREE, a band comprised of Wittenberg professors and alums.

WittFest will take place in Myers Hollow.

Local acts, many including Wittenberg students as performers, also scheduled to perform include Derek Ellis, class of 2012 from Fort Wayne, Ind., Colin Evans’ Band, Clark Manson, class of 2013 from Covington, Ohio, Three Strummers and a Drummer, Happi Campers, The Possibility and the Promise, and 9 Volt.

National recording artist Saving Jane will perform for one hour prior to Bowling For Soup’s concert.

“We’re excited and the bands I’ve talked to are really excited to perform,” said Union Board Music Chair Michael Giavasis, class of 2011 from Canton, Ohio. “I think that it will make for a great day of shows.”

Inflatable games and novelty attractions, including a henna artist, a photo booth and a caricature artist, will be set up between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. A picnic lunch and dinner will be served by Sodexo, and there will also be food vendors set up throughout the day.

The rain site for WittFest is Wittenberg’s Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Center.

It’s a good time. many years ago I got to see the Violent Femmes and Gin Blossoms in back to back years at Wittenberg when it was just a concert. Now it’s a day long event. good for Wittenberg.
